    Thanks, Ma! This was really helpful. I couldn't tell, from what I've read, whether there was some difference between the fully-weighted keyboard or the Graded Hammer Action keyboards that was just down to preference. Now, I guess I can assume that the "semi-weighted" keyboards are a cheaper option that mimics the acoustic more accurately like the GHA keyboards. It seems like, if budget would allow it, the GHA keyboards are the best option!

      That's about the gist of it. Though it seems digital piano manufacturers are making up new terms all the time - these main ones will help you get something reliable.

    • @ThePianoPriestess
      @ThePianoPriestess  Před 2 lety +1

      hi, I haven't tried the casio px s1000, but your steps to choose are: 1 - compare the specs of each keyboard, what do you get and what are the capabilities of both, /2 - how does the price compare to the differences in those specs /3 - which key action to each have and is there a more realistic feel option to either /4 - play both and decide which is your personal preference both to play and to listen to. Hope this helps.

    • @ThePianoPriestess
      @ThePianoPriestess  Před 3 lety

      Hi Deepti - yes Yamaha p125 is a great option for your kids - it's generally considered a solid entry-level digital piano. GHS just means the same as GHA = so the keys are weighted in varying degrees up the piano to give the feel of an acoustic when playing higher or lower keys. It's not exactly like an acoustic (nothing is really) but it is the most similar in that price point. Good luck!

    I am not going to play an acoustic piano anytime in my life for performance/exams/recitals.
    I want to learn music first, then to play by ear.
    I want to play violin, cello, brass, guitar, piano sound and make arrangements ( that's my end goal).
    What shall I buy? Will 88 weighted keys digital piano will limit me to be able to play piano only without other sounds?
    As most places i read that weighted keys are not good for playing other instruments.
    Kindly help me 🙏

    • @ThePianoPriestess
      @ThePianoPriestess  Před 2 lety

      It sounds like you won't require fully-weighted keys then. The technique you play with will differ without the fully weighted or hammer action keys, but if it's simply for your own enjoyment a simple keyboard will suffice.

  • @rafnaegels8913
    @rafnaegels8913 Před 3 lety +5

    So the more realistic, the more expensive? Can you make a video about cheapest decent hammer action digital piano’s? And are there keyboards out there with hammer action that allow you to play other sounds? I want the realistic feel of a wing piano, the sound versatility a keyboard and i want it cheap. (but i’m be prepared to compromise)

    • @ThePianoPriestess
      @ThePianoPriestess  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Raf - I haven't tried every option out there so it's possible you might want to talk to a retailer - but I can say that I went on a journey similar to you a couple years ago - my latest digital piano has an incredibly realistic key feel, full graded hammer action, it's 88. keys - but also has incredible synth sounds & performance/ looping capabilities + more. It's not the cheapest but it's not the most expensive either - it's a Roland Juno Ds88. There aren't that many really good sounding/feeling digital pianos that also function as decent synths in the middle-price market - usually this sort of thing is a 'workstation' for composers and in the thousands. Most people who have a lower budget and want to play piano, will forgo the additional synth abilities and go for a solid digital piano - like the Casio privia, or Yamaha Clavinova, or P45.

      @@ThePianoPriestess one more question. If i would buy a very affordable weighted key piano. Would i have trouble translating these skills to an accoustic one? Or is it just a slight adjustment to the feel of the acoustic keyboard?

    • @ruthpower8403
      @ruthpower8403 Před 3 lety +2

      @@rafnaegels8913 it is an adjustment in feel - but if you've established good technique with your digital piano, it will have more impact on the acoustic piano tone - so it will only make it feel & sound better. If you established your technique on a keyboard in the long term (without weighted keys) and went to an acoustic it would be very different and more of a learning curve.

    Hi, there is any difference between hammer action and graded hammer action? If yes, which is better?

    • @ThePianoPriestess
      @ThePianoPriestess  Před 3 lety +7

      Hi :) hammer action has the mechanism where you get that spring back from the keys - so it's more realistic = good. Graded hammer action is going an extra step in that the spring back is slightly different in the lower register than it is in the upper register, which is even more like an acoustic piano = very good. So graded hammer action is the more realistic option of the two - but both are good & just fine for learning creative piano!
