    Currently binge watching all of your videos. I’m so bad at managing my money and it’s been really stressful lately. This video randomly popped up and I’m so glad it did. I could thank you a million times! I will be coming back to your videos very often to learn more!

    So glad that you are back! I absolutely love watching your videos. I was never really in to the whole sinking funds thing. But now after watching your videos I have started! I am doing them online though because I am so forgetful I am afraid I would lose the cash.

    I have a separate account for my sinking funds because I do not want a ton of cash in my home, even though we have a safe. I just transfer the $$ to my checking account when I pay a bill like home/auto insurance. The money does gain interest while it's in there. I do have cash for Christmas however, because I pick up gifts throughout the year. Great job on the debt snowball!! We only have our cars and the house left.

      Maureen P same over here. I have electronic sinking funds. The idea of all that freakin cash in my house would give me anxiety.

      @stupidsmartperson Před 4 lety +2

      I do the same. Especially because I have a sinking fund for a new car (would like to save up $20,000) it doesn’t make sense for that to be in cash When it could be earning interest in a high interest saving account.

    My girlfriend and I want to start this, but we don’t know exactly how to start it. We were going to start for March, but I’m having a hard time trying to figure out what to put, and when... like for example, rent is due the 1st. It’s February 26th right now, I get paid tomorrow, she gets paid Friday... so we obviously will have to take it out in full of our paycheck, but then the next paychecks following, we just put in a portion, correct?

      karla de leon I ended up finding them. They are stickers and, personally, $4 is steep. Considering how many pages of stickers you’ll need. I ended up purchasing the Budget Mom’s digital financial planner. It’s similar but you have undated pages you can print forever.

    I love how organized and specific your budget is. However, I was raised by and accountant and and an insurance adjuster. The idea of having that money in the home makes me anxious for you. What if you are robbed? What if there is a tornado, fire or flood? What if something happens to you? Then someone else has to take over your bills for a while and they only know about your bank account. It's a great idea, but at least for the sinking funds I don't see why it can't go into a savings account. You can keep a log with the full balance broken down just like you do on the envelopes.

    • @MoreyJune
      @MoreyJune  Před 4 lety

      If there are Fridays in the month (like January), I usually divide the minimum payment by 5 rather then 4. It really depends on when the payment due date falls in the month and if I have 4 or 5 Fridays (paychecks) before that due date.
