Seventeen was one of the first songs I wrote for Peach Pit. I wrote it 4 years ago and at the time i'd been thinking a lot about when I was in high school and the dumb things i'd done and when i'd treated people shitty. I think like most people I tend to hold onto that sorta stuff for way too long, anyways the song’s all about those times when I was being a dink. - Neil Smith

I'm turning eighteen in almost an hour. It was really good being seventeen and knowing this song, it was always in my head and made me dance a lot and forget about the confusing stuff going on, while getting drunk too. It was a hell of a crazy age, listening to this song for the last time as a seventeen year old is a nice closure, but now I'll have dark things hanging over my head as an eighteen year old lol ;P

Well, short answer: it sucked.
Long answer: My year as an eighteen-year-old wasn't really how i wanted or expected it to be, because of the whole pandemic thing, so I didnt do much besides studying and trying to distract myself with music and tv series. I tried new things though, like making music and learning a new language. I think I had more time to remember what i like and actually do something about it, like really trying to learn it. The confusing stuff and the dark things hanging over my head actually got worse, but it made me notice that i need to take more care of myself, so i'm working on it in a healthier way now (trying, i guess). But, yeah, i think i did the best i could as an eighteen-year-old who just started college in a pretty weird world condition and is still trying to figure out what to do about life ^^ I'm trying not to freak out about how it has been almost a year since i wrote that comment lol
Anyways, more years are yet to come :P seventeen will always be in my head still.

There used to be a burger joint called The Peach pit in the small town I went to boarding school in. They sold burgers the size of a plate for dirt cheap. we used to pool our cash and buy one and then asked them to cut it in quarters. One of the best burgers I ever had in my life.

Found this song on my 17th birthday two years ago. I was deeply in love with a girl who couldn’t care less about me and working so hard at school for college grades. As a fifty year old bloke I have decided my life's work is to track down every CZcams cover of Sharon van Etten's song "Seventeen" and give it a like. This is obviously not a cover of the song in question, but it still gets a like, because it's rather good.

You all in the comments talking about being seventeen are funny. I’m 28. Been listening to peach pit for a while now. Enjoy life no matter how old you are. It always gets better, it’s just up to you to make the best of the inevitable ups and downs. I was anxious about getting older when I was 17, I’m still just as anxious now, only with more knowledge and understanding and I’ve learned to enjoy things as they come and not worry so much.
