At times I ask myself, "Why don't I just work on my truck myself" then I watch these videos and I remember why , "oh yeah it would never run again"
Hahahaha. It is amazing how much he knows. And the process he goes about tackling the issues. He doesn't sweat it at all.
I do work on my own stuff and sometimes you just have to stick with it until it is done no matter how difficult it is.
i mean he only had to pull the airbox, the battery, the battery tray, AND the ECM to be able to change a hose out
I felt the same way once. But, I became a Master Barber because of my experience and knowledge. Yes, I made mistakes (Very few) but I watched and listened to people who knew more than me. Same with car repair. Raymond's experience and knowledge was gained by learning from others and making mistakes. (Very few I'll bet) Give it a try! It's only money..., lol!
@@jamessowards3822 Amen!
A full shop, full racks, plus more floor space coming 👍🏼 2023 is your year Ray!
Now if only parts would arrive so the work can be done and the lifts cleared for other paying projects.
I hope my load noises didn’t mess up the recording to much on the F150 gear change.
@@jamessowards3822 At least the tools I sent him to help with those ultra tight squeezes got there :D
Are you sure ? Automotive world and making money from it’s been in decline for decades you either do the job to cheap and don’t make money .. or you put prices up and don’t get customers and lose money anyway ! Automotive businesses are not a asset they are a liability
@@iamasmurf1122 there are many of us out there who are still prepared to pay for quality. Too many times in life I have learnt that going cheap isn’t always the best option.

Just started watching your videos a week ago Ray. My TV put up random videos of your repairs. I just saw the one where you were fired, about an hour ago. I have just subscribed to your channel. I respect and admire people like you who hold the same honest and hard working values as I do.

God bless you, and may your life bring you joy and contentment. 🙏
You deserve it. 🙂
Welcome to the party 🎉 enjoy 😊
@@MitchGaar Oh, I guess most would manage in some way or the other the taking apart part. But as soon as it comes to spill containment and getting it together working again, that may get very interesting ;) Some might after a while just leave everything disconnected and throw all the parts in there, close the hood and pretend everything is fine.
@@alexanderkupke920 See the vid about the Pathfinder timing belt? Yeah.. I would have rolled it out of the building and blown it up. 😤😖

This was posted at the right time. First snow of the year in Chicago and came in for a break from clearing the drive. A good way to make a 15 minute break take 54 minutes.
I'm not sure why I'm so enthralled with your videos 🤣. I'm 63, retired military mechanic, pay everyone to do everything now 🤣🤣, haven't even got a clue what's under the hood any more, but I learn something new every video.
Thanks 👍❤️.
You have done enough in your time so it's good to leave it to the younger generation.
Same for me and I am 75...
We don't always need to see all your work when your hands, lighting or something is blocking our view because your commentary fills it all in for us viewers. Great job in all you do. We all need more like you.
I don't know about anybody else but I'm missing that old phone ringing! Video's just aren't the same without it
Speak for yourself matey, personally, I don't miss the bloody thing! Used to wind my wife up as well and that's a no-no in any country! UK Pete.
and the calls to PEE-TAH?

Personally I don’t miss it at all as I watch the videos for Ray not a telephone
I miss it too.
I respect your quick recovery from that differential replacement. Great resilience in the Rainman!
I dont think his Videos are in Order. But yeah some differential jobs are a nightmare.
If it were yesterday he’d still be complaining about it he was wasted after the diff job🥲

I was initially worried about a lack of customers, which is usually the case with a start up business, but it looks like you are doing exceptionally well, which I'm happy to see. You're on your way to a prosperous operation. 😎
its the new times customers just want to see their car on the show took me 3yrs then people begging for me to fix auto and tractors and not even
His old customers followed him.
A good mechanic/ technician, can always find work. And once you build a reputation as both good, and fair, work seeks you out.
I bet half the members here don't realize where your name is from Mr junior samples BR549 i caught that right away great profile name!!!
CZcams has got to be the best advertisement tool ever for start-up businesses. It shows potential customers the kind of work you do, so they know what they’re paying for.
Wow ray u are busy and work waiting to come in that a sign of someone that's is good at his job
Rays videos are the best source for learning as he describes every single step of doing any fix and his camera angles are always in the right place to show us whats happening. Hats off to you for hard work and teaching us all.
Looks like business is booming, that's a good thing ,
The good thing about making CZcams videos of you work is your customers can see just how hard many of these repairs are. Most of us would be struggling for hours before we got all the parts out of the way.
As a dirt driveway reluctant do as little as I know how "mechanic", I appreciate shop porn where you have all the tools you need. I love watching you put something on the lift and get sh!t done. I wish I could become a mechanic at a real shop and have you as one of my mentors.
Hey Ray. You have such patience. I would be cussin’ the whole time. I’ve wondered how you have the balls to post all your amazing content with the prospect of a mitch gaar complaining about an old heat destroyed electrical connector breaking. You and wife unit are amazing. Both of you keep it up.
I agree Ray you're the best.
Besides Ray has no idea how to make a soldered joint in wires. He never reflops the dingwanner before zinwabben it. So it is never going to warf.
Cussin is my stress relief
In the early 70s I worked for a Sun Oil company garage in Tulsa. It was the shop my dad had retired from. I once was working on a 1960s era Chevy 6 cylinder. Nothing special, I was to replace a leaky valve cover gasket, replace spark plugs, points and condenser. Someone walked by the front of the truck, saw me and informed me the shop foreman was looking for me. He said he’d tell the boss where I was. Where was I? I was avoiding leaning over the fender to do the work. I was inside the engine bay standing on the floor with everything I needed to work on within easy reach. My needed tools and parts on a tray balanced between the radiator and the right fender. Those days of having under hood space have been gone for years. The boss laughed at me and said I was the only one in the shop skinny enough to do that. Yes, those days are gone too.
Enjoy the longer videos, and appreciate the effort you put into the production and editing of such !
Hello I love watching your videos of repairs since I have been fighting a rare cancer now since I was 32 and iam 58 now it helps keep my mind straight Iam in a bad situation and married to a narcissistic wife who cares less about me .Plus having no family at all no one. These videos help to take my mind off some of the pain and hurt I go through everyday and night .
Stay strong, Mark. You have friends here
Stay focused on your heart temple, Mark. Sending positive energy your way, we'll see each other on the flip side.
@@sueharrison8193 Thank you since ism so alone in this world its horrible and having a wife who thinks shes perfect and everything she ddf oes do wrong is my fault .I .wish I had someone as a freind to help me through this
I am always amazed at how much stuff you have to remove to complete a repair. You are one patient man.
Much respect for your work ethics and level of mechanical aptitude.
You deserve every success in your business Ray
I admire your ability to not use the foul language to tell that 5.5mm bolt exactly what you thought of it. You’re a better man than me
My FJ is just sitting on the lift. Please make a video on the repair.
I feel like I go over uncle Ray's everyday so he can teach me how to fix cars with all the camera work making sure we can see then explaining everything. Many congratulations on everything you do and your continued success.
I know, I missed a day. Life happens.
Great to see you so busy, Ray👍 Keep doing what you're doing🤘🤘
Now in the new space you can put a new rollup door and a 4 post rack so that someday you can add an alignment machine
Hey Ray, nice video but you forgot to clean out the air intake nastiness that you noticed when you took the air filter box off. I can’t believe how hard they made it to change that line.
Good morning from Chicago☃️ Raymond's and wife unit,😉 hope you all are having a great day today in Florida 😁well here in Illinois we're😡 freezing our butts off🤣🤣 BROTHER! ♥️👋🏻👍
Bummer, here in Florida the trees are blooming and budding and it will be 80+ (degrees not years old) for the next week.
We’re doing the same thing here in Wisconsin @stephen rogers
Being a shade tree mechanic, I woulda fixed the leak with a piece of old inner tube and a gear clamp. 🤣
Had to go back and look at the previous routing of the positive cable. Was definitely incorrect before, good job catching that one Ray.
I did the same thing. Beauty of video footage. Ray is on point. Makes me feel more normal for doing the same kind of things. I'm not alone when I find things not put back correctly and my ADD makes me fix it. LOL
Yeah it looked so obviously correct when Ray had got it done finally, and so wrong the way he initially had found it. Kinda made sense to have both battery clamps oriented the same way to line up.
I do believe your business is growing nicely with repeat customers! Congratulations!
So many good one liners and no one to share them with. While reaching back into her neither regions I can't find the hole, maybe just the tip. 5.5 going down all the way down on the other side. It's a tight squeeze but I have to get it in. Its why the 8 year old in me loves your channel.
Great video. Thanks for spending little bit more time in doing all these jobs you share. I know filming all these videos slow you down and editing takes time away from family. Just want you to know I'm thankfull for your willingness to share your talents with us.
YAY!!! The break clean spray gong-a-dong is back! Thanks Ray!
Hey Ray, a bit more challenging without the lift but as usual you prevailed. I felt your frustration over that battery cable routing. Then I laughed when you tried to remove the brake clean cap one handed because i knew what was going to happen. All this when you're working late and trying to get home. As always Ray, a great video. Cheers!
I love how you are able to find where thing goes and route even if the person who worked on this car before you got it wrong…
You really have such a dedication to repair the car the right way.
Nu View did a great job ripping out the tile.
Better plug those floor drains. If they don't drain into a grease trap rated to catch oils and greases from industrial processes, somebody will be liable for some hefty environmental quality fines.
Better yet, get demolition and construction permits from the city, or county, if not within the city limits. Flying blind without instruments is asking for trouble. Maybe not today, but eventually...
that's the "blue oval", Rainman.!!!! 👍🏼🤣
Loved the snidely little dig about people calling to say you can't set up a Differential properly. Just a bunch of jealous moronic Turd's who hate to see the success you are having and how well you are followed. Ignore the haters. Had a few words to say back to some of them lol. Keep doing you that is why we sub and return.
😉
They are probably “engineers “ who work on a production line doing the same job over and over Ray has multiple skills and adapts to the job in hand.his channel is for entertainment it’s not an instructional video go Ray 👍🇬🇧
Setting different and other gearboxes is an exercise in patience and sometimes futility. Put it together, check it, take it apart, wash rinse repeat. The whole process is dull and repetitive and would require a 6 part series. I reassembled a three cylinder Suzuki once that had been completely disassembled. Including the trans. I didn't have to shim anything but there was 147 different ways to put the gear train back together and only 1 that was right.
After reviewing the video at the 6:07 mark, I noticed that the battery cable was initially in the wrong place causing you to misremember the routing. However you properly deduced to correct installation path of the positive cable all on your own. Good job Ray.
Personally I think of few things with misrouted before Ray even got under the hood and that's why the line rub through
14:09 I think that's because most of us don't have a lift and when you're working on a car the same way most of us do, it's more relatable. I don't know. (vgg) 👍
Ran into s a similar problem on a Mercedes in the 60's. There was no way to reroute the hoses to keep them from rubbing. I ended up taking a larger diameter piece of hose, splitting it and putting it around the two hoses at the rubbing point. Mercedes came out with a fix, consisting of two split pieces of hose to mount over the hoses where they rubbed. An official repair that duplicated what I thought of on my own.
Its great to see you so busy!!
We had a minivan like that for a battery truck at a towing company! We called it , the moon machine!!! It went thru 3 transmissions carrying all that weight! The motor was holding up though! Thanks Ray for the video!!!
Good job Ray 👍
Nice and shiny!!
Shop is really shaping up, Ray. Congrats.
You work hard. I wish you and your family a prosperous 2023.
I’m so glad to see you’re so busy with your new business. Stay safe and sound. Thank you for the great videos.
Awesome job Ray. The shop extension looks amazing. Be nice once you have a door, and it set up.
Nice work Ray..
Shop expansion coming along very nice @Rainman Ray's Repairs

Shop is coming along nicely
you make the time go by quickly while im on the treadmill watching your show. thanks
Thank you foe this video , i learnd a lot !
Nice job n nice video keep it up Ray, wish you a good luck. Cheers
Great job Raymond Ray you is the man man.
Don't you just love it when the customer sees this part and when they get the bill can't understand why it costs so much. The go thing about your videos they can see how involved it is and all that has to be removed and then reinstalled in order to replace just one small part. Great job brother really enjoy watching your videos.
Love your vids Ray, so much info gained from them, thankyou :)
Once upon a time I tried to hack up a compression fitting patch on a ps line. It lasted about 3 seconds. Drove a couple months without assist. Quite a workout! Finally threw a line on.
thank you Ray an excellent upload,,👍👍
In the UK they're called Transit Connect.
I love watching your videos I laugh when your daughter asks what you're doing May the gravitational forces be with you Have a great day

Solid repair. No runs, no drips no errors.
Thanks for the video Ray keep up the great work 👍 nicely done 👍✅. Take care of yourself and family ❤️❤️❤️.
Love the videos as always. The best, most honest mechanic vidja maker I've seen. Wish you were up here in the great white north!
Ray, you sound so much more enthusiatic since you opened your shop!!! I am thrilled to watch you through your journey.

We like the down and dirty stuff because that is how we have to do it. We like to see others do it the hard way! Great job as always!
Coming in with the strong hand for the WIN. Nicely done. Really like the variety you have been recording. Keep up the great work.
My kid in the garage today was a Deutz 4006 tractor. 😂
Ray, i liked this video, very informative.
You are a marvellous mechanic and video master . Just so complicated noises such calmness
I've seen this film many times. It's really wonderful.
Awesome video ray
Good job
ray your a GENIUS
25 yrs ago my 84 dodge pick-up steering arm sawed my transmission line like that. I broke down right in front of an old abandoned gas station in Arkansas and around back in the gravel driveway I found 2 hose clamps and an old piece of fuel line. I had a Sawzall blade in my truck so I cut out the bad spot put the clamps and hose in place and never had another issue. I sold the truck 2 yrs later.
I used to watch sunday morning Cartoons when i was younger, now i Watch Ray.. "Roobie Roooo"! 👍😎
In my military career as a Bradley Mechanic we had the dirt for our lift. We had pits in the maintenance bay but when you are in the field so much the repairs happen were the vehicle breaks done and the includes changing packs out (engine transmission assemblies)
Ray, you remember taking that plastic holder you took off because there was on on the other pipe. You should have used it at the bottom where it sits next to the AC line to hold it away from it.
Another awesome power steering hose/line replacement
Another great job ray well ✔ 👍
I used to work at a ski resort in Swain NY, and they used Snow Groomers, which used ATF as hydraulic fluid. Every so often they had a hydraulic hose failure and it looked like a crime scene. Well eventually they realized the hose failure was due to a hose rubbing on the frame due to vibrations. They wrapped the hose up with carpet scraps and zip ties to hold it in place and, boom, no more ruptured hoses!
28:26 That blue cable wrapped around is killing my OCD
Good day to you
Yeah, those quick-connect fittings are just sooooooooo helpful !!!
Hard work mate !
Flashlight with laser pointer would be a cool upgrade for pointing out lines and parts in the depths of an engine bay for us observant viewers 😉
So good you have heaps of work Ray even with some late nights. That job was in tight tight confines but you still managed to get a camera in their somehow. Well done to you.
Let’s goo..let’s get it! 💯
Love you’re videos greetings from the NL
These 'regular' repairs are more profitable and satisfying - satisfying both for you and for us viewers- than the endless gear-fitting of those custom differentials. Man, what a job that was.
Happy Sunday Ray.
A little tip about Spotify; it has shuffle and repeat settings so you can listen to the whole playlist in a random order then once it’s played through it chooses another random order and starts playing from there.
That’s a quick and easy way to extend background music
Really pleased your business clearly has taken off Ray. Good Man and keep up the good work! Best Wishes from the East Midlands, UK.
