    Listen, if you're happy with this copy and paste feature from the Forza devs, fair play, but this is nothing but the same old stuff from the other titles. This is a big part of the culture, allowing people the freedom to create vinyls, and I feel they have completely dismissed this side of the community, and it's disgusting. Built from the ground up, but the editor is completely the same? It's shocking!

    Even though I hate Apple, I can respect their process, and GT's vinyl editor is like how Apple goes about producing things. They wait until their version is the best to release it. And usually that feature is much better implemented than other products that have had that feature for a while. Sam goes with GT and Polyphony's vinyl editor, they made it better than what was previously done. Hats off to your PD

    You forgot to mention on GT7: You can color in community made decals in afterwards. Lets say you have a Cutout of a figure you have on your car, and you want to add a shadow or an outline around it... just repaint it into a different color, move it around to create the desired effect and you're set. No idea if Forza offers that!

      You can do something very similar in forza titles. It is kind of limited, though you can only scale it up or down uniformly you cant change their dimensions individually. Only change color and scale.

    Pro tip in GT7 (@ 3:06), you can access and apply vinyls that you saved in your collection by navigating to the sidebar, on the left, under My Library while you’re still in the Showcase Content Search. You do NOT need to back out and go all the way to Load Styles. Saves you a few more seconds.

    As a long time Forza fan, I’ve been frustrated with the vinyl editing system for years now. As well as the topics mentioned in this video, there’s also the fact that you CANNOT ever edit someone’s livery you downloaded, as they’re always locked. Same with decals. I feel you should be able to edit them, without the ability to share them, as I’m sure thats the intended reason to locking them in the first place. Secondly, many cars have certain areas where the vinyls just aren’t optimized to cover. They’re usually invisible from a bug issue, or that part of the car is specifically off limits. There are more issues I could point out, but these are my two big gripes.

    Just a heads up, Forza also has options for Ambient Light, Ambient Dark, Sunset, or Daylight modes as well, and has since FM5. It also allows you to use Forzavista in the livery editor (at least on FM7) to get a full spin around view. However, there is no excuse at this point for STILL not having features like changing vinyl textures, or decals on windows/mirrors, or how HORRIBLY jaggy all the designs end up on FM2023, as if they through 720p decals on the 4k (lol) cars

    • @AutomotiveVP
      @AutomotiveVP  Před 5 měsíci +10

      No, I can't take it into anywhere in FM23, and the lighting just gives me one option. I just made sure I did not miss out on this, but I definitely can't find anything that allows me to do this. They should have rebuilt this whole feature. Yes, when you apply them to the car and look at the cars after making a vinyl, it looks so pixelated. It's frustrating.

    you should've showed how the different projection types work in GT7, because I've been told that you can apply layers similarly to how they'd work on Forza except they're not stretched, or you can apply them similarly to Real Racing 3 where they stretch accordingly to the camera angle, that's a massive advantage of GT7's livery editor over Forza's

  • @chewthegum
    @chewthegum Před 5 měsíci

    You can change Gran Turismo's editor backdrop from the plain white. Under "editor options" there are 3 different outdoor options: clear, sunny, and cloudy, with "sunny" having the most neutral color tone. There is also a plain black similar to Forza's.

    God damn FACTS. Once again all spot on. I can’t stand having to scroll through FM23’s shit legacy gallery. Having to guess how long I need to sit on a blank tile for it to load, or having to play a little forplay with the gallery by toggling back and forth to get the next crop of designs to pop up. It’s been like this for AGES. And not being able to see the back… like, come on. Sometimes when you’re balls deep in the deep end of those pages, you’re really trying to pick “the best” vinyl, and some of them have botched or phoned in backsides. But do I have the energy to dive back into the shitty gallery to go look for a new one at that point? Nah.
    And then of course, the broken editor. Inconsistent surfaces. Lack of textures. Lack of camera angles and backdrops. Same. Exact. Shapes. It’s just LAZY.
    Imagine being a new hire for the creative department at Forza. “Congrats, your salary is 100k per year. You’ll need to be sure to understand how to use copy and paste. No, we don’t want to coming up with new ideas. That would be stressful. Yeah, don’t worry, watch, we’ll get racing game of the year, bet on it.”

    Even as a diehard Forza fan since Motorsport 3, even I cannot defend the new Motorsport.
    What’s sad, Horizon 1 had the ability to preview designs and look around the car before obtaining them. You are now forced to download it and view it in Forza vista which takes up a design slot unless you remember to remove it. The matte/gloss vinyls material is available in Horizon 5 but not Motorsport which baffles me. Horizon 5 players are having huge troubles to this day having their designs/vinyl groups transferred to Motorsport which has killed the creative scene for that game as they don’t want to use this editor again to recreate the same liveries from scratch. Not to mention the lighting in the Forza booth is atrocious so colors might not come out as you want them to when on track.
    It’s honestly the biggest disappointment of 2023 for me as I was really itching for a new Motorsport. Keep up the good work!

  • @DanniV8
    @DanniV8 Před 5 měsíci +1

    Is it still this in Forza, that if you use a player made layer group, you can't even share the final design. So if you want a manufacturer or brand logo that's not included with Forza, and you want to share the livery after creating it, you have to make the logo from scratch as a layer group yourself? GT7 lets you share the livery you created even with decals from other players. This probably goes a long way to explain why there's so many more liveries shared in GT7. I used to make liveries all the time in Forza but never shared them because I didn't have time to create replicas of each and every brand logo I wanted to put on my cars. Now I make liveries a lot in GT7 and share most of them. The livery editor in GT7 is simply much better than in Forza. The only thing I'd want PD to add that's already in Forza is layer grouping. Sometimes I've already spent a huge time creating a shape for a livery and then decide I want to move it a bit to the left or right and then I have to manually move every single layer that's part of that design. Oh, and did I mention that if you like a shared livery and want to use it, but personalize it a bit for you, you can do that if the creator has the "allow editing" box checked. But naturally you can't share it.

    One of the things I notice in FM with vinyls, is somehow black vinyls actually look black. Some reason black in the game looks wierd, but if you put black vinyl on the car, it kind of looks good. Is that just me? Am I crazy? Lol.
    One thing that keeps me on this full of plastic shit, is playing with the Honda Type R TCR. It's a fun fucking car. I searched for a Mugen livery and got this gorgeous black/gold/red/white vinyl and somehow, the car looks pretty good...on the outside. Inside is too gray and plasticy. I wish GT7 had this car. It would look amazing with a livery like this.

      Played around with a few screenshots I took with this Honda TCR, and man, if only Forza had a contrast setting in the options, it would look pretty good. All I did with my phones factory editor, was move the contrast all the way up to get rid of the washed out look, and it also made blacks black. It looks really good. Also turned the vibrance up just a little. Damn. Give us these settings in the options. Lol.

    Most of the custom pictures in the game are mostly made by in game shapes and their shapes is afaik is on bitmao format
    Meanwhile GT7 are allowing users to upload their ow. Shaped and decal in bpm/vector format so its basically infinite pixels
    The most insulting is that in FH a lot of people got banned because they are using an external tool for making their own custom liveries because they count that as a cheating lmao. Idk if its the same in FM i cant find any info because the game is pretty dead atm

    The livery editor of Forza is literally recycled over and over again. No wonder the modders created Forza Painter Tool for FH5. The community didn't like it (yes the community who are literally yesmen to Turn 10 and PG hated it and classified users of Painter as cheaters), and the devs even banned people for using it, which caused backlash. The Forza Painter tool is a blessing but the devs thought it was cheating.
    Meanwhile Gran Turismo actually innovates on its livery editing and allows for image imports (which Forza Painter tool does btw) and allows for high quality liveries without compromising frame rate.
