Sometimes people get caught in a situation where their Cub is dead and they cannot access under the seat. This shows you how to open it in an emergency scenario.

Cubs are only Workhorses when setup right. Luggage rack, bag frames (Kajima) and saddle bags (Chase Harper) look good and are extremely functional, a side stand is also useful. I can go anywhere, do anything with my Cub. A sprocket alignment tool is also a huge asset for rear wheel alignment. This eliminates any Hunting on irregular surfaces.
Once again CZcams University to the rescue. Thanks for the tutorial. I would have never found that white push here spot without that description. I had a 2x4mm thin piece of carbon fiber stock from an old RC plane that was the perfect tool to slide between the rear subframe pipe and the plastic inner housing. Press in on the barely seen white thing and pop the seat opens. Brand new battery drained in a month of sitting. This anti theft setting must have been accidentally turned on

20 years ago I would have looked up the tool online and purchased it for this video. Now a days? I prefer the budget method.

I was wondering what that little port was for, I didn't realize the actuator was just in that area, I thought it was to pass wiring through for accessories :D
Honestly, me too until I saw it in the service manual!
Chain maintenance is a big issue. Do not use spray chain lube, use chainsaw bar oil (90%) & ATF (10%). Button bottom oiler will put oil in the correct locations where pins and side plates come together. Oil both sides of chain & oil every 300 miles. Wipe off excess. My chain looks brand new after 2500 miles. Buy 2 chains and swap every 2500 miles. My Cub is 2019 with 7200mi.

So the service manual comes with a new bike? Mine is used, and I don’t have it. I guess I’ll have to search for one?
@@gerblake9359 no, the bike comes with a user manual. The service manual is what Honda uses to fix the bike. The service manual has to be purchased separately. I can get you a copy of either if you would like.

So if the battery is dead you cannot open the seat to change the battery? They designed it that way? Reminds me of the DeLorean. Key to open. Electric battery needed to exit. Sometimes people got into the car with the key to discover the battery was dead and could not get out.
This is incorrect. You need battery power to operate the seat, but not change the battery. Have a great day!
@@Yoshi-Mooch I stand corrected. 2:36 I thought the battery must be under the cover with the rectangles with white lettering. I now see the red wire in front of the seat must be part of the battery. Thanks for the clarification. Still - be careful getting into a DeLorean. :)
