at 3:30 you ve said powering vtx from main battery pad. But you can also do it with vbat pad which is 2 left of the vtx pad.

Not sure if you have a video like this but I would love to see a comprehensive troubleshooting video what to look out for if something goes wrong with drone. For the 5v board, do you just layer the red wire on top of the battery wire or wrap them together or keep them separate on the + lead? Planning to do this on my quadcopter
On my last three builds I've started getting power for the camera from 5v out from the VTX, I've noticed there is a lot less noise. It all started when I hooked my runcam swift2 to the VCC and noticed some wavy lines, switched it to use the 5v from the vtx and it was gone. I'm going back to my older builds and redoing it that way. I wish I knew the science behind it.
Great series. Well done. Btw, most PDB's have a 5V and a 12V BEC output (like the Matek Systems PDB-XT60 shown at 4:45). Why not connect camera to 12V pad instead of Vbat (cleaner supply after regulator)?
As long as the 12V BEC can sustain 100ma it should be able to comfortably sustain 800mw power signal or below on any VTX.

Can i ask you something i have an eachine tx805 and thera is an output 5 volts coming out this vtx so do i connect these 5 volts to my 5 volts on the controler or not or i should put them to power up the camera
Is it always better to solder cam and vtx grounds to exact same pad, or if you have two ground pads close to each other you can use them and don’t bother?
Question : I just bought a Syma x11c mini quad which has a pretty good 720p camera . The camera records to the quad , but it has no FPV . Can you split the wires from the stock camera and add a VTX without harming the original camera operation , and therefore get FPV with minimal weight added ? Because if that works , all your old camera drones , can be made into FPV drones just by splitting wires . I look forward to hearing your opinion . Thanks !

I have the same tvx and pdb board as in your video. Can I attack the red wire from the vtx to the spot on the pdb that says 12v?
Thank you so much. Been looking everywhere 600mw ts832 powered off the wrong spot next to vtx . Video only goes 50 yards and starts cutting accidentally got the answer from you. I assumed if they have a pad for all the wires and osd even 3 volt for satellite spectrum. So I'll move red and hope its finnaly working
i do not have SPF 3, but i do have the PDB power distribution board. Is it possible to use Arduino with the PDB or is there another way? and i have the AKK FX3 beta flight. you show i can solder the camera wires with it, but where does the green wire go? those are my two questions

I have built a flight one board and can’t get the osd to work.... it has video in and out and a cam control??? I’m lost .... my vtx has a smart audio cable .... I can’t figure it out....
Great video as always. I do have a question. How to switch a cam. I am just switching a cam for trouble shooting reasons and when I plug, sorry yes plug no soldering for the geprc phantom toothpick quad. When I plug another cam into the flight board the quad deeps at me with no video signal. It has a caddx eos 2 turbo. I switch it with a caddx tarsier and a run cam nano 2. Neither work on that quad. Is there something I need to do in beta flight for the quad to recognize the cam? Sorry for the long question.

I have the blade qx180hd i just bought the foxeer and a reciever to turn my phone into fpv. What do i do?
Question, on the Mamba 405 stack, I decided to try and see if I would get a cleaner FPV video signal by powering the FPV camera from the 5v and ground of the VTX. Everything looks pretty good, however, I now have lost the OSD? Nothing has changed from the previous configuation, other than the FPV camera getting power from the VTX instead of the FC. The video out from the FPV camera still goes to CAM and the VTX video wire still goes to VIDEO. Don’t understand why that would lose the OSD? Isn’t that FPV video wire feeding that signal thru the OSD chip? Appreciate the help!

I think I need a 26v step down to 12v BEC. any other options or links to affordable chips would help. next time I think ill get a 4 in 1 or fc with a 12v reg or a hv vtx. thanks in advance.
My camera just has a red n black wire so I just have to hook that to the grnd and 5v correct?
Hi, I have a F4 V2 pro, a panda vex, a runcam owl, I’ve run the cam into the cam plug on the board, and the vtx into the vtx port on the F4, but I have a black screen in the goggles, ie I think the vtx is working, but I have no picture and no osd , any ideas what is wrong, I also can not see gps in betaflight, do I have a duff board ? my baby ratel camera is getting lines in video. I redid wires,.. thinking trying moving power wire from happymodel vtx to betafpv 5v on FC.. im lost with what else to do to get a clear pic
My setup doesn't seem to be working and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I connected my vtx and camera by soldering the two video wires together and connecting the camera to 5 volts and the vtx to 9. Even if my frequencies between the VTX and monitor are the exact same my monitor has a black screen. Did I do something wrong with the wiring or is it an issue with the monitor and/or camera? Btw I'm using the exact same VTX and camera as the ones in this video.

Curious about battery usage. Says uses less Mah if higher volts. So if hooked to battery wouldn't it use less battery mah if at 8v or 12v.. ???

You didn't mention you could power from pdb it had 5v and 12v pads
On your first board, why not use the "vbt" pad two pads left of "vtx" and the conveniently placed "gnd" pad between the two :D Great video still and its still good to let people know they can power from the + pad on the esc. Thanks for the info and I'm subscribing

Yes make sure your VTx takes 7-to 20 volts or more.

Hi, i started with hd,but did buy a trex~2.5 reaper vtx~ n a v4 lolipop antenna. justwish i was quading 6~8 years ago .Good video i subbed about a year ago.took me over 18 months to buy all the gear to fly with non dji. i seen how easily they could keep you. not sayin there rubbish either.not for a poor man i do like there flight times though ,couldnt buy an s8 20000 for LOL.peace

No that is perfect.. That means you VTX will connect there.. the 7-24v is the input on the vtx

Hi.. thats very good and detail explanation ....(*****).....I have a question Sir....I have built my qav210 using matek F405 STD. (installed also low ESR caps on main Lipo power and all ESCs. For Power the vtx and cam, using 12V direct from PDB --> micro LC Filter 3A and common ground for Vtx and Cam, offcourse V in and V out wired into F405 itself.. I'm Using AKK Fx2 and Sony Had II, Google Eachine VR006 and Fat Shark Spiro net Mushroom Antena (I didnt know whether this is a clone FS or genuine...one?? ;)))).
What im so confuse now,.....How to get a super clean and strength (Not Long range) video receiving signal ?? because during flight the receiving signal is not good..I mean video is clean but weak signal ..could it possibly the fake antenna? or should I replace them ??? pls help regarding this matters....since video quality is crucial for me during flight. I dont wamt my quad has around 1 km and the video signal is blank......thats not good i think.

@Drone Mesh: What about connecting 7-24V+ cable from vTX to one of ESC pads on FC (Bardwell FC4)? This is what Joshua Bardwell wrote to me: "Since your vTX supports up to 26v input, I suggest powering it from an ESC+ pad instead of the 7.6v output. This sometimes works better." ... Did you hear about it?

The first board u talk about is the one I have vbt next to the yellow wire for trans isnt that bat voltage .does ts 832 Automatic pull 600mw of power cause osd says 25mw and in betaflight only let's me save 400mw 500mw wont save my video is perfect for 100 feet then crap
