I just learned something from you and I think it is very important. That's why I'm making a comment on it. The idea of cutting a noodle and trimming the side of your bed so you don't catch your leg on a piece of wood is fantastic. That is something I'm going to do in my SUV. I love that idea
Cool video's, just found you today. We have an older class-B. It is a 1994 Dodge maxi originally converted by a Canadian company called Great West. The back came as a u-shaped dinette that was then converted into the bed. Too much work, I filled the space with a piece of plywood put the original cushions down and put a 3 inch memory foam over that, very comfy. I have also used some of the other hacks, like the shoe storage bags and lighting. Our bathroom is twice as wide as the space needed for the toilet so I added one of the plastic multi drawer storage units in the space beside it, lots of storage now. My wife and I travel in it but no pets.
thanks very much - glad you enjoy. I've seen the Great West along my travels and they look nice too!! I've always heard good things. All the best and happy safe travels
Howdy sir! Been a while since I've commented but have been following along! Thank you for posting the great videos of all different topics. Especially like the thrift store finds (ours seem to charge almost full price these days) and how you are able to cleverly and cleanly build and integrate things into your rig. Enjoy and be safe out there!
Thanks very much _ I am glad you enjoy the videos. AS for the thrift store... hard to find a place that would beat their prices. :) thanks again - all the best
I hadn't seen people put them on the awning arms but after one hard bang against with my head... somehow the idea just POPPED into my head. lmao That's all we can all hope for is to find the right one for "me". :) all the best
Love your van and video, thanks. You remind me of me. You're intuitive, you let your heart satisfy you, me too - it's so damn satisfying. I play trumpet (poorly), and have several, but I gravitate to my lowly worn and dented one the most - like a favorite old sweater. A while back I needed a pepper mill grinder but didn't want to spend $20 for the junk they sell, so I kept the thought on a shelf in my mind (a technique I use often to get things I don't want to pay for), and don't you know not too long after I stopped at a garage sale just lookin', and there was the perfect pepper mill - got it for $One dollar. I've had others in my life that cost nearer $50 not as good; with a quarter turn of that head handle it rains down pepper, now I go out of my way to use it 'cause it's so easy to use and everything tastes better now, ha. Sorry, tend to get carried away. Dig your attitude. ciao.
Thanks very much - glad you like the vids. I really do enjoy finding a good deal and saving money that I can use for the gas tank. :) It all good thanks for sharing. all the best
You always have some of the greatest thrift store finds. FVM and I are going to have to take a day trip and come visit one of those thrift stores sometime soon. I really like the shoe organizer thing on the window valance.
Thanks. I get sometimes when the decals start looking bad to take them off but if not I think most look fine. But.. that is the beauty of it all - personalisation. :)
Stealing the sweatshirt on the seat idea.. Not cause I travel with my dilapidated cat but cause the pocket thing is brilliant.. The bed set up also intrigues me. I am wanting to do something different in my van and you just gave me an idea. Thanks!
Thanks for some great ideas, especially the bed. I am currently completely gutting a manky 88 Dodge Xplorer. I will do away with all of the gas amenities and convert to electric and solar with a battery bay and inverters.
Hi dano I like you dont want to go hog wild and rip out the whole interior in my conversion van, not a rv. But i can deal with it. Im just going to be a weekend warrior in the vanners world! Will not be out in the winter, still will enjoy the traveling part for a couple weeks at a time due to existing health issues! Will visit family in other states and have my own lil spot of home with me. Keep up your upgrades ill get ideas from all of the youtube friends like you! Thanks ur friend Everette and Peytonkitty p.s. I have a 1990 Dodge B250 conversipn van love it.
You have it exactly right ... If you like it then that is how it should set up and so many great ideas out there in YT land. :) All the best and happy travels.
Keeping it simple! Yes simplify! Speaking of which, I ordered a product that was on Shark Tank that might simplify starting a camp fire, especially when weather conditions are not favorable. Would like to send a packet or two to you. Please let me know an address to send it to! Thanks!
That is very nice of you and with all the best that is ok. I know I may be weird but when I see what many others do on YT I have vowed to not be like that. I appreciate the offer - I really do - but I really prefer not to ask or ever "take" from anyone. I hope that makes sense. I also hope you take no offense to my reply to your nice offer. :)
No offense taken. It is more important that you stay true to yourself and what you want to do with your own YT channel. If you change your mind, it is a gift that is freely given to you to try out a product that you might not know about. Just thought it might be something fun to try while out camping. You take care and thank you for all the incredible video's. LC
I love that screen on the double doors. Have to make something up. I sent you some pics on fb awhile ago. You can get clearer light covers on amazon. The ones we had were getting yellow. The led's are much brighter now.
It is one of my very favorite things! It makes a HUGE difference in getting air to move - Class B's tend to have small windows. Lucky for me my aunt is a seamstress... left to my own devices it would be all duct tape. lmao
Impressed with your ability to think outside the box and come up with ingenious ways to save money by doing it yourself. I am getting ready to start and have recently been watching your videos a lot. Keep it up , we can use all your great ideas.
You have made several practical yet subtle changes to Cousin Eddie. The best part is that the changes you have made do not detract from the resale value. I bet it is a fun (not) chore to flip that mattress. I would buy tickets to watch that! Hahahahah
Thanks. True about the resale - the way Class B prices are going now I am pretty sure I could sell this for more than I paid for it. But... not selling! lol Yeah it takes two angry people using harsh language to flip this. lol
I know what you mean about the Class B prices. I won't even allow myself to look until I am a little closer to buying one. I am afraid I won't be able to afford a decent one. Seems like you may have mentioned in another video that you had someone help you with the flip. I bet if your aren't angry when you start, you are by the time you are done. Hahahahah
People don't always agree but.. even if I could afford I don't think I would buy a brand new RV.. ESPECIALLY brand new Class B. I think 5 to 7 year old Class B starts to close in on better value. Yeah - I usually get my uncle to help me - it's not all that fun so I turn to family for the crap jobs! lmao
For many years I ALWAYS bought new. These days, it just doesn't make sense. Vehicles tend to be a lot more reliable and you can count on them getting a lot more miles on them. An RV especially is going to be a safe bet. I couldn't afford a new Class B unless I sold my house and rolled over the entire amount on it. It is good to have willing family. Hahahaha
I agree totally. I think especially RVs - if you check them well and find one that was cared for properly it is so worth the savings... everything saved is gas money. :)
I'm sure you know this - A spray bottle, filled with water, would be a useful tool to discourage cats from clawing furniture. It got to the point where all I had to do is show my cats the water spray bottle and they would stop. * Cats usually scratch to trim their nails, mark their territory (they have scent glands on their paws), to stretch or out of boredom. Good thing cats are so cute, eh? : )
I often consider how nice it would be to have flooring that is easier to care for than carpet. However I feel like switching to something besides carpet would be dangerous for the pets. If hard braking occurs pet can slide into something too easy on slick floors and get hurt.
Dano, 1st video seen on your channel. Very nicely done, no over drama mama! Flipping your bed, open rear doors, slide 3 boards 2x4x6' up to edge of bed. Slide mattress out over them and flip, then slide back up the slope into position. That's if you have back doors, if not - oops. With me: Free Idea's, Use M or Lose M. Good intentions only and always. CrazyLarry
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video and I do all I can to always be drama free. As for flipping the bed it is a bit of work. It has to be forced into the back door. Basically, I have to take the center out plywood out and then drop it down to the floor to get it out through the door and then flip it... then back in. It still takes some fighting and a bit of bending but it works. lol I guess that is the price of having a larger bed in there. I hope that made a bit of sense.. I do appreciate any and all ideas. :) all the best
As long as you have a glass lined tank, which means an Atwood for an RV, a Hot Rodd is a purchase that will make you money over time compared to using propane to heat water. However, that's only true if you need hot water for a shower. If you don't, or don't use the shower and use campground facilities, your method of hot water from a coffee maker makes a lot of sense. There are also Sun Shower bags that show up at thrift stores from time to time. Hang it somewhere on the outside of the rig and you'll have hot water in a couple hours of sunlight.
That has been my thought. I use the RV shower only a couple times a year. If not for the pets it might be different but I tend to go to places with facilities. I've been doing the coffee pot thing for a really long time and I think it works great. I thought of it because of winter camping when the RV was winterized and I've kinda just kept doing it.
Yeah, the Hott Rod (correct product name, I always get it wrong) goes for between $90 and $100. In your situation, you can burn up a lot of propane before you start making money. When I was a fulltimer I used the RV shower exclusively so a Hott Rod had a short payback time, plus I always had hot water when I was hooked up. In your situation. the coffeepot method is all you need.
I've got 2 cats as well and a large dog who will be traveling with me. Not sure yet what I'll be living out of as of yet. Would love if I could find one of these for a good price. Remains to be seen. Have fun!
There are a lot of good options that can be found. Much of it will depend on the amount of space you need. For me, I think with two cats this Class B works.. most of the time. lol Sometimes it feels a bit cramped for the cats and my first thought for you would be a large dog could be tough, but you would be the one to know what your dog can deal with. My best advice would be to search around for ideas on rvtrader.com and then go to see as many different types of RVs in person BEFORE buying. From all the people I have known I would say the biggest mistake ever made is not buying the RIGHT one for them. An RV that doesn't work for your lifestyle will quickly override all the fun of the experience. That's just my two cents. :) I've made the joke before - take all your pets and yourself and spend the weekend in your bathroom. lol
How are the cats? I haven't been watching for a few months. Couldn't get the RV but I still want to get one to do some traveling. Ant good thrift store finds?
Have you thought about putting a scratching post in the van for the kitties. You can usually get them cheap at the pet store. You can put some catnip on it to get him interested. Never know might work.
So where is leisure van hangout? That would be cool to see all the oldies. Like what you have, and myself last year they made them....I go to RV shows and come home and mmm still like it...maybe rebuild it when the time comes....cheaper....like your updates, I have the clear pouches in bathroom.
I think they have Leisure Travel gatherings in Manitoba every year. I agree and have said many times maybe I'm just weird but I prefer this to the brand new ones.
The pic of the mattress was old - when I first got it. I of course took it out of the plastic wrap. I also do check to ensure no mold - it's all good. :)
if you are talking about the screen - velcro was already on the inside of the doors (previous owners) and in this case velcro works best. I do use magnets for most other things. :)
I love it, I want it, I have a 36' 5th, bad decision, just me and my husband now will be retiring in two years, do you mind giving me an idea price wise!
Brand new Class B's are insanely priced - you can look around on rvtrader.com to get some idea. this 99 Leisure Travel and similar age and style Class B's seem to be going for around 20K now. I paid around 15K a few years ago but because of the prices on brand new used seem to have gone up. hope that helps
What is your opinion on the Chrysler engine? The transmissions used to be prone to overheating as they changed up and down a lot. I think it is time for a London Broil again......lol
I am VERY happy with the engine. It is the larger 5.9L and it is still strong!! I have heard many bad reputation things about the second thing you mentioned.. I haven't had any problems myself but to be safe I don't say it out loud. lmao - no really. It is past time for a London Broil. :) all the best
This might be a surprise but... I searched online for Class B's for a really long time and looked at a bunch in person. I found this one at a Camping World in Springfield Missouri. It was over 600 miles but they treated me awesome! I got it over 4 years ago and paid about 15K - which was and is a great price. I know Camping World is getting a bad reputation but my experience with them was very very good. My suggestion is to always keep your eyes out and also be ready to jump at an older model Class B.They do not last long when for sale. I knock on wood because this one has been almost trouble free.
Again, being honest I still look online from time to time and around 19K seems to be the prices for these types now. I think it is because brand new B's are INSANELY priced, causing the older ones to go up. I think unless you get lucky from a private seller that is about normal now.
Two more weeks till retirement. It's the longest two weeks of my life! So my "no time restraint" adventures start soon and I need to learn how to edit videos. What do you use?
CONGRATS !! and you will do great! I must admit I hope you do make videos. :) I do mine about as low cost as possible - just the GoPro Hero (cheap model) and my cell phone. I use Windows Movie Maker because it is pretty simple and easy to use. I was going to buy some fancy editing software but I actually think this free stuff does fine, like I've said.. I'm not looking to be George Lucas or anything. I am under no illusions :)
Thanks. Simple and easy to use is exactly what I'm looking for and I like that price. In May I'll be in Ireland and in Vermont for fall. I want to be able to create some decent videos, so thanks for the info about Windows Movie Maker.
Hey, Dano, I quit smoking in July 2015. I don't need the ecig now but I still suck on nicotine pills. You do what you have to to keep those real cigs out of your mouth.
I just learned something from you and I think it is very important. That's why I'm making a comment on it. The idea of cutting a noodle and trimming the side of your bed so you don't catch your leg on a piece of wood is fantastic. That is something I'm going to do in my SUV. I love that idea

I loved your hacks...the t-shirt bag, the shoe bag, hoodies on the seats....you got some really brilliant ideas.
thanks very much. Not sure about brilliant but maybe every now and then I stumble across clever. lol
Yes there are so many useful tips that anyone can use, I always love your tips!
Thanks. I try to share possibilities for others. :)
Hey Mr. Dano! Some very cool ideas! Good to know we're going along with you on another Road Trip! Cheers! Thumbs Up!
Thanks! Hopefully some useful nonsense. lol Yeah - I'm ready to get the wheels moving. :)
after a day of driving or exploring a decent bed makes it possible to do again the next day...interesting video, thanks for the tour!
Exactly! :)
The sweatshirts on the seat are fabulous ideas. Thanks.
no problem :)

Those noodles come in pretty handy. We love our Roadtrek 21’ too. It just perfect the way it comes.
I hadn't seen people put them on the awning arms but after one hard bang against with my head... somehow the idea just POPPED into my head. lmao That's all we can all hope for is to find the right one for "me". :) all the best
Yes , the bed is def the most impt. Chair and table, great idea, good use of space. Looking forward to your adventures. 👍
thanks... me too lol
Love your hacks. It’s the little things that take the wrinkle out of one’s day. Love the sweatshirt slipcovers! So handy. 👍
Every now and then I get a decent idea. Hope some are helpful. :-)
Excellent video as always mate. Looking forward to seeing your trip.
Thanks very much! I'm looking forward too. all the best
You always have some of the greatest thrift store finds. FVM and I are going to have to take a day trip and come visit one of those thrift stores sometime soon. I really like the shoe organizer thing on the window valance.
That thrift store makes it pretty easy - on both selection and price! :) That shoe thing has worked great for me. :)
love your videos...a lot of ingenuity in cooking, gadgets and organization.
thanks very much. I hope from time to time I stumble into something helpful. :)
Recently found your channel and am going back to find where the name “cousin Eddie” comes from - love it!
I want to tell you but also not sure how bad you want the answer on your own. lol If you reply I will either confirm or tell you. :-)
Wander Dano I’m still looking - it’s a challenge now!! I’ll be back to ask if I don’t find the answer. 😃
Love the hoodie idea. Thanks for sharing.
No problem
Love your ideas!
hanks - hope they are sometimes helpful
Once again great tips thank you!
thanks - hope some may be help to some. lol
I like your ideas, one day I'm going to be a full time traveler.. don't know when.. thanks .
hope these were a little helpful.. best of luck with full time goals
Lots of good ideas. I am like you, I like the decals. So many people strip them off and make their van look like a white deep freezer with wheels.
Thanks. I get sometimes when the decals start looking bad to take them off but if not I think most look fine. But.. that is the beauty of it all - personalisation. :)
LoL "Deep freezer with wheels" Cousin Eddie is in Great Condition! In Fact I got 1st Dibs..
lol My plan is to run it till the wheels come off... then I'd probably put him up on blocks. lmao
Wander Dano ll
lol
I love the sweatshirt over the seat ..which I have stolen to store my umbrella and long ice/snow scraper.
I'm really glad you liked the idea. It is never stealing - just glad it was helpful. :) all the best
Love your organization tips, thanks
thanks - glad you enjoy
Stealing the sweatshirt on the seat idea.. Not cause I travel with my dilapidated cat but cause the pocket thing is brilliant.. The bed set up also intrigues me. I am wanting to do something different in my van and you just gave me an idea. Thanks!
It's not stealing - glad to share. :) Again - to me... a comfortable place to sleep is the most important thing. Travel can suck otherwise. :)
Super intelligent mods! Well done 👍
thanks very much and just keeping it simple. lol all the best
All great tips but I love the shoe rack thing for organization!
thanks - that shoe thing (whatever they are called lol) does work pretty well. :)
Thanks for some great ideas, especially the bed. I am currently completely gutting a manky 88 Dodge Xplorer. I will do away with all of the gas amenities and convert to electric and solar with a battery bay and inverters.

love the clothes in the bag tip. I use it in my RV
Yeah that is about my favorite idea. :)
Debra If you roll them up then stack them on end in the bag, you just have to look in and pick which one you want without removing all of them.
Thank you
I had tried that way too.. :)

Yeah - the bottle works on Vinny too - I have NO idea why I don't do it more. lol It took twice for him to just react to the bottle.
I often consider how nice it would be to have flooring that is easier to care for than carpet. However I feel like switching to something besides carpet would be dangerous for the pets. If hard braking occurs pet can slide into something too easy on slick floors and get hurt.
Understand that. I have liked the foam mat I put down over the carpet. It was cheap and protects the carpet. :)

Yep - I always travel with a post for them. Even if it is just for a couple minutes a day they do use it.
Wander Dano that's good. I always enjoy their antics. I can tell they are well loved kitties.
Thanks very much. Glad you can see that through the jokes I make about them :)
Put a small scratching post like material up for the kitties.
I take their scratching post with now. :)
👍👍
thanks
How or is, your mattress able to 'breathe, so as to avoid mold, etc: truly like your vids! Take care~
The pic of the mattress was old - when I first got it. I of course took it out of the plastic wrap. I also do check to ensure no mold - it's all good. :)
K thanks. I'm getting a class b like yours
Thanks
There are some good ones out there - best of luck in finding "yours". :)
"back to a favorite place" ummmm lets see, THE THRIFT STORE! hahahaha
lol
Hey dano I'd brag if I had a nice rv like yours😀
lol I do feel fortunate tho :)
Decals are nice. Consider using magnets rather than Velcro for things. The body's metal.
if you are talking about the screen - velcro was already on the inside of the doors (previous owners) and in this case velcro works best.
I had a Chrysler and it had a Mitsubishi engine and a Hollie Carb. That is good to know the new Dodge Eurovan style is not getting the best reviews.
From what I have seen these dodge 3500 vans have a pretty decent history and reputation.
I think it is the new Promaster model-now of course you cannot believe all you read...lol
oh yeah. That is what makes it so difficult - so many different opinions and a one time problem can get blown into they all stink kind of thing.
Have you ever overnight around cemetery area in your RV Mr Dano?
no - not sure I'd like that lol
Norman Abdullah
So where did you purchase your rv? Was it in Ohio? I'm shopping around now for a decent used one and hoping to get one within a year or so.
Yeah, that is a good price! So far, I'm finding a '99 (same as yours) for $19k online. But I'll keep shopping around online.
Again, being honest I still look online from time to time and around 19K seems to be the prices for these types now. I think it is because brand new B's are INSANELY priced, causing the older ones to go up. I think unless you get lucky from a private seller that is about normal now.
omg, you're right about the prices on the new ones. You can buy a small house with those prices.
Even if I could afford brand new I just wouldn't let myself pay that much. Why are they so much.... because people will pay it! lol
Hey Now, Dano...I like that tee shirt. I can't read what is says under Wander...it should say Dano :-) I'm looking forward to your new adventure.
Hey Now... lol Thanks - it is a life is good shirt (that's also what it says under) It would be cool if it did say that ;) I am looking forward too :)
I want to be able to create some decent videos, so thanks for the info about Windows Movie Maker.
well... If THOSE are your destinations... you BETTER make some videos. :)
yes👍😴
ok
Hey, Dano, I quit smoking in July 2015. I don't need the ecig now but I still suck on nicotine pills. You do what you have to to keep those real cigs out of your mouth.
I agree. Plus, it is one of my few remaining "vices" lol
how is the gas mileage?
I normally get 15mpg
lol u should put another team's hoodie (one you hate) on your seat, that way your cat will be destroying the enemies merch and not your Yanks.... haha
lol not a bad idea other that it would ruin my state of mind everytime I would see it. :-)
@@WanderDano good point
:-) lol
plz be careful not to bang your head when you stand up forgetting the wood cabinet right above you...
that hasn't happened .. it's not really in the way and would take work to hit my head on it. :) lol
Je pense que je pourrais vivre dans ces vr-la.
there are some that live in them all the time.
I want me a Cousin Eddie
:-) There are still some out there to be found.
If you can't sleep comfortably you'l progressively hate your RV to the point you never use it. There's nothing as important as a good bed.
I agree one million percent !!
i don't want to be rude but its all a bit half assed isnt it ? your turning the inside into a bit of dogs dinner !!
lol
I ENJOY YOUR YOU TUBS,,, YOU ARE TALKING BOUT YOUR BED,,,HOW TALL ARE YOU,,I AM 5'11" WOULD I BE ABLE TO SLEEP ACROSS LIKE YOU HAVE YOUR BED?
Yes - You would.. I'm 5'10 and there is plenty of room. I have done RV tour videos with all the measurements.
confdouble
I will go with ... thanks. lol I don't know what that means lol
Love your ideas!
Thanks - hope a few are helpful. :)
