    Great tone, great playing and demo. I've switched my mind a couple times between this and Taylor mini.

    I was looking at this guitar and the GS Mini. Your videos (and videos of some others) helped me to decide to buy this guitar. I can't wait!

    Jarvis...that guitar sounds fantastic when you're fingerpicking slow, soft tunes. The tone is beautiful....nice playing too....
    and your love of music and guitars make your videos a real treat! Thank you from the USA! That guitar must be a winner
    by the way you're enjoying playing it!

    Watching you play and have so much fun makes me happy. I have the original DJR and I love the warmth it has. For an all solid body guitar, I got it for such a good price from City Music. No regrets!

    Just got one today to add to Martin collection. Really nice to have for travel and beater. Sounds much better than I thought it would. So comfy.

      Update. I swapped out the saddle (which was really loose) with bone, and put on Authentic 2.0 PB strings. Huge sound improvement. It is quickly becoming my most used guitar due to it's comfort and portability. I even take it to work to play at lunchtime.

    • @capohd28
      @capohd28 Před rokem

      @@IRequireMedication Yes, I stayed with 12’s and use Authentic 2.0 PB. Not a big fan of the monels. After a year of playing it, it has become one of my most played guitars due to it’s comfort level and playability. I also changed it to a bone saddle which improved it’s tone as well.

    Thanks for this review!

    I have been playing the first original model for a few years now and love it. It's a professional dred guitar in a smaller , more comfortable size without compromising sound. How does this newer model compare with the older one as far as sound ( in your opinion). In this review it still sounds great, but know when playing in person it can be slightly different.

    Hey Jarvis! - Where have you been hiding? This is the first time in a good while you have come up on my You Tube subs. Anyway, good to see you again You're looking well. I happen to have a Martin JrE. Incredible box! Going on two years old. Is it possible it sounds better than when I first received it from the factory. I think so. Absolutely problem free. Next time I restring, I think I'm going to do the nut and saddle thing. ( Considering putting the Santa Cruz strings on...). No one - I repeat NO ONE - does a better and honest review of guitars on the planet. These DJr's are the best guitar for the money. I, personally, wouldn't even consider a Taylor mini. You're having a blast playing the all wood Martin. You make it sing Jarvis. Ahhh, the familiar sounds of The Guitar Spa. Talk to you soon man!

  • @billr2375
    @billr2375 Před 5 lety +1

    1 3/4 inch nut width? So rare it seems to find on these smaller parlor/travel guitars...I want one and want it now...the change over from my Country Jumbo size with 1 3/4 inch would be minimal to none with this guitar.

    Hi Jarvis, love your reviews and playing. I have one of these coming in next few days. Wasn’t able to acquire the original version.
    This new version sounds slightly thinner, would you recommend putting pb’s on or stick with monels?

    • @TheGuitarSpaSingapore
      @TheGuitarSpaSingapore  Před 4 lety

      Domi Darko the new sounds thinner as they are now shipped with 12-54 instead of mediums 13-56 which gives you a fatter thicker deeper lows but that means that the TOP will be prone to swelling below the bridge area

    • @domidarko1166
      @domidarko1166 Před 4 lety

      Thanks for the quick reply.😀 Not sure whether to keep it now as I prefer the original. Not sure why they changed the design.
      I saw a video from Maurys Music where he played both with light monels and the original still sounded fuller and richer.
      This one is still great but I think I’d always be wishing I had the original.

      @@TheGuitarSpaSingapore Hi, i am going to keep this now as its great guitar and the old version is not available. Martin told me all their guitars are designed to take mediums including this one but i'm sticking to lights just in case. Ordered some Authentic PB's for more richness. Had a GS Mini before but this sounds better to my ears.

I got Framus Grand Auditorium right handed planned to sell and maybe to buy Martin or Taylor mini gs lefty which you compared. This recording recorden on right handed yet and has near the same chords as a background just added solos drive.google.com/file/d/1cZRwXGS8g-dxfrSp9wKag0O-ashOKK3S/view?usp=drivesdk

      Not sure if that's tongue in cheek, but I tried several examples of both. I wanted to like the Taylor, but the Dread Junior was a much better sounding instrument, especially in it's bass response. The smaller Taylors, sounded "jangly" to me. Personal preference of course, but they were miles different.
