I think Wagner had every right to stick up for himself today. Booing mid-game is bad enough, but to do it whilst we're winning is classless. In the end, he knew best and a lot of fans had to eat a hefty serving of humble pie. Hopefully this experience will make fans think twice before booing ahead of full time in future

No, he did not know best. He went defensive. They brought on 3 forwards and started ripping us to shreds. Only a moment of brilliance from Barnes with luck and world class finish from Sara we got the lead back. The substitutions were poor and weak minded. What was he thinking? Shall we defend for 30+ minutes at home at 2-1. Utterly moronic with the subs there. Glad fassnacht scored but we looked weak without a Striker. Barnsley is a CF at best.

Well, it drove them on to prove those fans wrong and win. So it was positive. You may want the multi millionaire footballers protected emotionally and wearing pride socks as they hug each other every time they pass one another while telling them what they love in the world, but I want football. Catharsis. Discourse. Please take your fluffy only child football to another club.

Like many others, I have often been bemused by some of Wagner’s substitutions of late. However, if we look at recent results, there is no denying that they often seem to work. I feel a section of the fanbase made their minds up long ago that they wanted him out, and are looking for anything they don’t agree with to justify this position. If fans are prepared to boo while we are winning, they can’t really complain if he bites back (though no doubt they will). In a way he is protecting his players as much as himself - it can’t do much for confidence and team spirit when your fans are booing, particularly when you are ahead.
Whenever I feel that Wagner’s decisions are wrong, I remind myself of two things:
1/ He knows more about the current physical and mental situations concerning his players
2/ There is probably a reason why he is a coach, and I sat behind a computer screen for40 years

Booing a winning team and manager is ridiculous. Of course a manager would not want to take off arguably two of the better performing players - but Hernandez and Sargent were carrying injuries and signalled to the bench to come off. Fortunately, we have a reasonable depth of squad with quality players to come on for a shift (and even score!). Also, can’t understand those that say Wagner is to be sacked in the summer regardless!! So, are we saying that IF we get in the playoffs and even promoted we reward the manager with the sack! These are the same people, if they had there way, would have a couple of months ago “sacked Wagner, written off the season, bring in a temporary manager and look for a new manager in the summer”. Yeah, great plan!! Come on City!!!

I think Wagner was right entirely in terms of management. Wagner’s comments post match should be taken as a man who is trying his best to get results together for the football club. He must be under a huge amount of stress to perform. He know’s he’s not here next season, but for him to get passionate, it says to me that despite knowing his time with this club is limited, he is trying his all.

The booing and chanting was embarrassing. I felt like it made us look really unintelligent.
Our fans have got to stop thinking they know more about the fittest of players and respect the fact David and his team have spent many more hours with the players than the 1.5 we get to watch on match day. We have a fittest/rehab team for a reason, and quite rightly the manager follows their guidance.
Josh was clearly struggling from about the 35th minute. I've heard fans say they wanted Van Hoojdonk on. His fittest isn't there yet. It was clear to see when he did come on, it's going to take time. Just like Wagner has said.
I'm disappointed this victory has been a little tarnished by the booing. Wagner was right to say what he said. He's taken a lot of criticism extremely professionally and it was time for him to say enough is enough.

Surely no Manager, knowing two of his top players are showing signs of struggling, would leave them on the pitch. It seems to me that Mr Wagner was right in his actions. I’m sure he would have been happier to have Sergent and Hernandez fully fit for the rest of this match but he
has responsibilities to consider the next games. The fans don’t have those same responsibilities. With Rowe already sidelined it would have been suicidal to risk losing two more players. It seems he was vindicated as one of his substitutes scored the fourth goal.

I want to preface by saying that I am just an overseas supporter so I cannot claim to have anything more than a distant view of what's going on at Carrow Road or fully grasp the prevailing sentiment among NCFC supporters. But for me, the 23-24 NCFC season was encapsulated in what transpired this evening. Everything that has beguiled or befuddled me or the any other fan was featured tonight - individual displays of talent, glimpses of offensive proficiency, baffling defense, shoddy, inconsistent play, and yes, even the debatable coaching display in second half tactics and substitutes which elicited a negative fan response and reaggravated what I assume is an unresolved tension between the people who run the club and the supporters whose passion and patronage keep NCFC afloat. Everything that was right and wrong with Norwich City in 23-24 was on display for 90+ minutes. What on paper should be a 4-2 home win against a decent opponent is instead an imbroglio of disconnect and mixed messaging between club and supporter. It is not my place to comment on the booing but Jack mentions "blind faith" and I wonder if the last few years of relegations and off-pitch gaffes have made an agnostic of more than a few believers.

I’d rather have Sarge on the pitch for 60 or 70 minutes for the rest of the season than him playing 90 for half a dozen games then hobbling off with a season ending injury.

I don’t get the boo boys at all. We were winning for f*** sake! I disagreed with the decision to sub Sargent with only 55 minutes on the clock but I keep that to myself in the moment because we do not help the players perform well if we create a toxic atmosphere during the game. I can’t remember a time like this before where we will be winning games and everything is going well but things instantly go toxic at the first minor sign of trouble. I really don’t know what is wrong with the fan base right now. If you want to get frustrated with the board fine, I get it but booing the manager mid-game when we’re winning and still fighting for the points is so damned disappointing.
I sit in the Geoffrey Watling and my god, it was easily the loudest the stands been at any time all season. Get some perspective folks…

Weird isn’t it.. the Watford player was in motion to clear the ball and Kenny chucks himself infront of him at the last second and gets kicked: penalty. But quite often if a player is winding up for a shot on the edge kf the box and is a player puts their foot infront of them and gets kicked that is usually a free kick to the player that was going to have the shot…

I'm still angry and upset Idah leaving on loan...it's a joke and very very disrespectful to the player ..and they immediately replace him with a unknown Dutch player....If we make the play offs we will be very lucky ..and if we do get thru and make the final and win...then I'm afraid we will struggle ..to survive the orem...it's a fact ..we need four more players at least with prem experience..The fans are disrespected by the board and now our own manager . There used to be a phrase "supporting your team through thick and thin". You talk about supporters having to endure "turgid times"? Compared to what? Derby, Portsmouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Reading etc? How many exciting promotions and Premier league seasons have they had lately? Many similar sized clubs would give their right arm to be in the championship play-off places right now. There used to be another phrase:"fairweather supporters". It's appropriate right now.

Regarding the substitutions, it seems a strange time to make a change - presumably if players were struggling they could have been changed at half time or later in the match ? , surely starting line up should be fit enough to last more than 55mins ? .
It's hard to believe that Wagner wouldn't have know that some fans wouldn't be happy & their reaction.
if NC hadn't won the game the atmosphere for upcoming games would be poisonous- it seems there's a few supporters that have decided they don't want Wagner & are unwilling to 'back down ' ...

Not a "brave comment" from David Wagner but a foolish post match reaction. Sara instead was the one that got his after match comments spot on. Wagner should have said he understands the fans frustrations (bubbling for a long time, not just this season) and that he likes the fans' passions. That would have given him the additional respect he so desires. It's easy for some fans to have a go at other fans for booing but the very fans that are criticising the Barclay in this way are stoking division! Personally I love the Barclay and the passion they have whether that is positive (nearly always) or occasionally negative. One thing is key now, let's get behind the team for the remaining matches.
