    I finally tried out the RR not too long ago.. I didn’t think I’d dig it really but after that session, I’m buying one for my home studio tomorrow. Honestly, minus the screen not being touch sensitive, this one is totally perfect for practice, streaming, home mixes, whatever. I’m bout it 🤘🏻

    I don't understand all the negative comments some people actually enjoy all the features it has. The only effects I've seen a lot of club djs use is the echo all these other effects are just there for decoration. The RX2 is way too expensive and the booth output is not a deal breaker as I will connect this to my mixer that does have one. I don't play with turntables so no need for all the connections.

    What would be cool is an all-in-one system that rivals the price-point of the SR2, RR, Roland's DJ 505 etc - around that mid-range 500-750 price mark - That would be an incentive to buy it as it's around half the price of the "professional" RX2.

    • @johnnyhaiku8521

  • @TrNdke
    @TrNdke Před 5 lety +12

    I'm really tired of Pioneer and the obsession with modeling everything on outdated CDJs. It's all marketing gimmick they've been riding out based on times when tech was less accessible.
    Their whole strategy: 1. Make the gear too heavy and expensive for any DJ to want to transport. 2. Get the clubs to buy the gear so the DJs can play. 3. All the clubs then force the DJs to use the same gear so the clubs can feel like they didn't waste their money.
    This drives me nuts. I get booked on the strength of my mixes and then asked to use gear that can't create that mixing style. As a controllerist, I have to prove that my setup is valid, which is just crazy, because it's like "Hello? You've HEARD it!" And I don't mean like, oh I'm using a controller... I mean a bespoke setup of unique midi devices... More of a live performance thing. My sets wander into live remixing and all sorts of stuff using fx chains, chopping, etc.
    Same gear + same options = same-sounding DJs.
    They don't do this to say, guitarists! "Sorry man, you can't bring your axe and your amp because we have a "club standard" set up". A good guitarist can play any guitar, but their unique setup is a big part of how they craft their sound.
    I think trying to cram all DJs into a CDJ box holds creativity back. Blurring the lines and experimentation is part of what makes music such a fun, evolving art form and I think DJs deserve a piece of that too, not just a plodding parade of the same overpriced options in expensive new plastic packages. When we buy into this stuff, we reinforce those who want to tell us what and how to play and what our craft should look like and where it should go.
    Anyway, rant off...

Having 8 high quality rgb pads rather than 4 blue buttons,having full size tempo slider,better jogs,better screen with touch screen,inputs with dvs fuction is a better choice for sure. And price xdj rx2 costs 600 dollars more than xdj - rr.

    • @iWubmusic

      the big thing is the rx2 is way old(2017) so I think that is why people shy away more from it and the price for it is still really high for like an 6 years old stand alone controller even though it is better and only 600 more, but at that point you mine as well snag the new rx3 lol Pioneer is clever in there market technique,

    Great video Joey! Help me out here Joey. I am more of a promoter, I use venues that already have industry standard club equipment. I bought a Pioneer DJM 250 Mk2 mixer back in July. I waited until DJ Expo in August to see if Pioneer might by chance make an update to the XDJ 700s. Would you say just buy 2 XDJ 700s or maybe get this unit? Keep in mind I don't really want to sell the DJM 250 mk 2 after just purchasing it. So either buy the 2 xdj 700s or buy this and keep my 250 mk2. I could always use the 250 mk2 with my traktor kontrol x1, then use the xdj rr as a standalone device. Feedback would greatly be appreciated!

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  Před 5 lety

      Hey Rupak! The XDJ-RR costs US$1099, so that's a lot cheaper than buying two XDJ-700s (around US$1700 for a pair). Unless you can get them cheap used, the XDJ-RR might be a better bet. It's more portable too compared to taking along your mixer plus the XDJ-700s if ever you do plan on taking it out for a gig :) -Joey

    well, i just can't imagine someone who really would want this. A bedroom dj can easily get a great deal with a $250 controller and rekordbox (often included), lots of effects and functionality for less money. The only significant difference is standalone mode but to be honest i'd rather go with laptop with all my library and a small controller to a small gig rather than taking xdj-rr, flash drives and still got chopped functionality. it's either rx2 which is a decent compromise or ddj series + laptop. I wish that Denon could come up with some solid statement on their own standalone all-in-one, mcx8000 is just not on the same level.

    Such a shame they went backwards .... why remove so many effects and inputs, the RX2 isn't even worth the price, the extra cash basically just for touch screen, no thanks....two RX1's are all you need. Then there's the denon kit, if only you could record on the fly and have loadable sample sections WITHOUT a laptop I would move across.

      Agree 100 percent mate, pioneer are over priced for their products compared to lot in the market , for example their over hyped turntable plx 1000, worse turntable ever in my opinion, pitch control let it down

    The only reason to get this is for the screen but the rx2 has that 🤔

    For those complaining, give me a company whereI can get a whole standalone system for $1000 or less that's actually decent? I'll wait....

    I asked why you still need your laptop to perform

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  Před 2 lety

      You don't, it can be used with or without a laptop - you will need to use a computer to prep USB sticks though if using it standalone but that's the same as any standalone device

    pretty expensive for something to use in a room at home.

  • @MyAlteredSoul

    It just looks cheap. Screens do not increase the value of gear anymore. The consumer understands that the processing in these units can be done on an $80 cell phone.
    I think Pioneer had a really great goal with this product, but missed the mark in too strong of an effort to make it seem less capable than the more expensive units.

    When its comes to sound everybody talks about buttons, knobs and software but neeever eeever about SOUND QUALITY ?????? I bought a pioneer controller for 1000$ and it sounded trash. I have a treated studio and I was in Clubs with that thing. Sold it! So this are just treated as toys they will stay toys. Talk about SOUND QULAITY MAN!!!!!!!

    This controller do the same and more than the MCX8000.....so with this RIP MCX8000. BTW MCX8000 never works in standalone mode as Denon advertising. Not to mention than in 3 years, Denon never release an important Firmware. And the version 2.0 never past beta stage, and stop the development 6 months ago!. Denon only care in his Prime series.
