      You will do great! I was shy at first but I did so good (It was about 2 3 years ago). Make sure to take notes on things that the coach says you need to improve on and if they are hard on you its because they want you to succeed. The first 3 days might be a little hard but on the other days it will be great! You got this. question: What grade are you in?

    I have track practice on Wednesday, and I'm crying myself to sleep just thinking about our first meet 🥲
    Edit: My school tied, and I got a lot of good places, but my best ones were getting 5th overall with the 100m, and the 4x400 relay. (I was the last leg, and won😁)

    Track season for me starts in the winter and ends around the start of summer so I’m gonna prepare my body for it 😭 wish me luck

    i rlly wanna try out for track this upcoming school year since it seems fun & bc my parents were track runners back in their day 🥲do u have any tips on what to do before trying out ? like do I have to build up my endurance, go to the gym, etc?

      yes! you want to be the most impressive runner you can be to get on the team and make the coaches like you. if you are a middle distance or long distance runner, work very much on your endurance. if you are more of a sprinter, than just go to the track as much as possible and run sprints, also for either go to the gym and workout your legs and shoulders. of course it helps to be strong and lean all around though.

      Yes training and working out is important and would make you stand out at the first track practice. Building strength and endurance is important. I am not sure what events you will do but both is important for all events. going to the gym would be good to build muscle in your body and make you stronger. Doing running workouts is also good to build endurance and speed. Reply back with the events you are looking to do and I can help you more with different workouts. I also uploaded a circuit video that you should do as well! That will help with strength and building endurance. Hope this helps!

    Hello! I am a freshman in high school and this is my first time doing track like ever. I have never done any sport in the past. I am doing the track workouts because I want to be in track. This is only my second time doing the workouts, but I left early because of how embarrassed I was. I am not doing the tryouts because that takes place on November 15th. I really want to be on the team, but I’m so slow. Everyone else on the team has had experience with this sport, but I haven’t. They are wayyyyy ahead of me and I’m really, really far behind them. I get so tired after a while of doing it. I feel really guilty and negative about myself because of how slow I am. I always feel like crying afterwards. It’s so embarrassing. Do you have any advice?

      Omg it’s okay. Everyone on that team had to go through what you are going through. everyone is going to get tired we are exercising. With a little time and dedication you will get to where everyone else is! You can try to do workouts outside of the practices that will be able to better prepare you for the workouts. Especially if this is hoyt first sport ever don’t be quick to give up!

      No, I’m not scared to run because of the crowd. when your running your zoned into the race and not paying attention to the crowd, the screams and cheers will only make you run faster! Try it! You won’t embarrass yourself, everyone has to start somewhere! I honestly have been running for 7-8 years and still have not corrected my form, so it’s okay 😂

    Hi! I’m thinking of trying out for my track team, but I have never been on a track team or sports team at ALL! Naturally at least in my eyes I have always been quite fast. I have have rather big feet for a 15 year old female (I have no clue if that helps with running faster) and I have long legs (not too too long but not short legs). But what happens is I get tired very easily when I run long distances or short distances for a long amount of time. I can run very fast when running short distances though. Do you have any exercises that has helped you get better in your endurance? Also if you had any cardio exercises I would love to know!☺️ Also, i heard from some other people that for tryouts I have to run around the track twice, or 2 miles. Any tips to get ready?

      Hey!! it is natural to get tired quickly when running, you just need to build your endurance. doing circuits would be able to help with cardio and endurance if you keep a short recovery time. Really having a shorter recovery time is the key that will help you do build endurance while doing workouts! I have a circuit video that I race y uploaded that you can check out! You can also search circuit videos and choose one that best fits you. If you want to be a shirt sprinter I suggest doing tempo workouts with short recovery this can build your endurance. If you would like a specific workout let me know and I can create one! To prepare for the tryouts the only thing I can suggest is completing the workout that they would like for you to do. So if it is the 2 laps, practice running the 2 laps around a track and get a strategy to how you want to run it so when it comes time to actually do it you will be better prepared! But most importantly go out, have fun and give it your all! Good luck!

    hi! I’m super late😭 I was wondering if in track you get to choose the events you want to do if that makes sense? like if I get placed in long distance can I choose to do a different one? 🐸 (sorry hope that makes sense)

      Hey, it depends on your coach and what you are more comfortable running. Your coach may see potential in you for a different event than you want to do. But most of the times you can decide what events you want to train.

      What you do at practice depends on your events and the day. Since I sprint and jump, some days may be sprint practices and others jump practice. You don’t just race your teammates everyday and you shouldn’t look at it as a race, workouts are structured to help you get better in your events. Hope that helps

    hiii sry im a bit late but i just got on a track team and i am like the worst runner 😭 i do long distance and my mile is 8:15 which is pretty bad… any tips to build endurance because I’m not able to go to the track very often other than my practices

      Hey! sorry I am not a distance runner, I am a sprinter but I suggest running over a mile to build endurance. Normally going over your race would allow you to build the endurance and stamina for when you actually are running your race. Hope that helps!

      Hello, I would recommend trying to find a shoe store that specializes in finding the right running shoe for you like I did. They test to see if you are flat footed etc and pick the best shoe for you. If that is not available Brooks and Asics make very good running shoes although they may not be as cute in design (these are shoes that I currently use). Nike also does make some good running shoes you just have to find the correct style and model. Hope this helps :)

      Omgg i’m sorry to hear that but this was in the summer, my AAU team still held practices for us to stay in shape. Hopefully this year they will allow sports to happen!

      Um.. this is a pretty hard question to answer. There are many ways you can prepare your body i’m not sure if you are referring to like warming up, stretching, relaxing the muscles or what. But before practice a good stretch and warmup up is necessary to run efficiently and prevent injuries!

      He did get help. His age groups do not use blocks yet anyway so he was corrected on how to stand and start properly. When he gets older he will for sure use them correctly

    how long have you been doing track for? I am thinking to do tryout this year for 7th grad because I was to scared for last year but i timed myself and am way slower then the kids that am friends with that did track last year ,do you think its still possible for me to reach their level?

      I can give u tips run do leg day on workouts and stretch flexible runners are always better than stiff runners

      I have been doing track since I was 11 years old. I started around 7th grade. I think that is a great time to start! You can do anything you put your mind too just keep working and you will reach the times of the other students!
