The only thing Nux was wrong about when he said about 1/4 of content creators are complete pieces of 💩 (paraphrased)... was the proportion. In my experience, it's at least 1/3, if not 40%. It's no different for vtubers than any other types.

This man truly went from Genshin content to VTuber content, time flies and time has changed.
Kenji was forced to back down after being exposed as a sexual predator. He forced his girlfriend to have an abortion, one of his relatives was a convicted rapist and he has a thread where he posts pictures of the girls he slept with. Someone threatened him to doxx him for real and he backed down and apologized. This is why he obliterated his Sayu posts.
Kenji deserves to be doxxed. The guy is a sexual predator.

As a fan of both, I kinda felt that emotions for both parties were just really raw and only looking to the negatives/only being reactive and not objective to their situations.
Kenji has faced a lot of direct and indirect racism pretty much since his debut, and he'll catch strays from people in every corner of the streaming community (corporate, indie, normie) compounded with the highschool drama of his doxxing by Dove+friends. Sayu on the other hand has had to deal with being called a pedo & rape apologist (for some comments that were truly stupid/just trying to be edgy, but I don't think truthful), compounded with the hate and doxxing from an entire corporate fandom, and borderline criminal treatment from the corporation itself.
Both were made martyrs by their respective situations, which might have gotten them support from the community in the end, but I'm sure is something bittersweet and no less stressful than the actual drama itself. Both were and will probably always be angry about the way things turned out, and it's ironic that their situations are so similar, it comes as no surprise they reacted the way they did with each other.
I can't think of many other indie vtubers out there with as much baggage as these two, and it's tragic they had to butt heads with each other on this. Happy they at least agreed the drama isn't worth it.
Yes they both totally screwed up and the real casualties were their communities, I hope their fans can permanently calm down and stop the hostility

Just for correction, the R word joke was not the cause of any of her suspensions internally. Not even her indefinite one. The company didn't even realize she had made that joke until the internet blew it up.
That said, for both Kenji and my sake, I wouldn't say that I'm not disappointed that this was brought up again after so long and us being on good terms. We can only do better from our mistakes, we're normal people like anyone else.
I do think that being in the VTuber space gives more room for negative things to happen as people are incredibly secretive about nearly everything. And it's why I don't really see the whole space in a very good light. The Internet is going in it's own negative direction and I can only hope that people can learn to have their own spaces again and respect others.

Oh yeah, I actually did notice that the other Vtuber news channels never really brought light to this situation, I only found out through clips of Kenji and Sayu and even then it was like, showing me what happened in the end and not how we get to that point.

Little boys makes one immediately think "uh oh FBI open up" and short boys makes people think oh it is a short male character (that may or may not be young). I think the difference is in "little" implying young, while "short" just implies relative height. And in Genshin, there are a lot of short characters that don't necessarily look quite that young like cyno, tignari, or ganyu, so calling them little doesn't feel so accurate, even if by relative size they would be considered little.

While the dacapo post may have just been a joke, it was insensitive at the time since dacapo was getting bombarded by death threats and harassment so much so that he had to go on hiatus due to mental stress. Kanji even said after that he didn’t even care about what Daca was going through ,he just thought it was funny and didn’t even apologize. He worsen the situation by making a joke apology. Due to this the majority of Thailand hates Kenji, and warns viewers and artist to block and avoid working with him.
I stopped watching Kenji after that, i don't even watch that much Dacapo (only checked his covers and some clips) but he did nothing wrong to be receiving that amount of hate
So seeing that video left a bad taste to my mouth

I think a good example would be Kenji's video saying he wasn't sorry for making a joke about Vtuber's singing live for concerts and joining in on a tik tok trend making fun of a popular vtuber's performance. Also the fact that calling someone that just because it's into shotas is a really low bar. Because it a very common misconception used by tourists that shotas are just underage when it can also be for short people. And the fact that she's not the only vtuber that's into that stuff wich kenji's fans can't go against because they would be absolutely clapped by their much bigger fan base.

Shotacons are pretty "normalized" in Japan. I meant that as in like, a lot of vtubers have "outted" themselves as shotacons and the fans doesn't really care. Idk about lolicons though
I wouldnt say to the same extent, but a lot of vtubers are known for that, matsuri natsuiro being the first one that comes to mind.
The only mistake here is the character she likes in Genshin are not in the category of Shota they are normale looking boys characters so the words " Shota or Shotacon" doenst work here and people just use a term that doenst make scene for the character and pretty much misused for normale base character

While this video is look unbiased but there's some info that Mujin didn't include (maybe he didn't know or purposely didn't include in it to make Kenji look a little better).
First, like Parrot4chan said, many Japanese vtuber often joke about being shotacon/lolicon/R joke. One example is, Marine often said that she like hypnotic genre which if you got hyonotic and do the deed, what is it if not R? But Kenji never address it. Maybe you can argue that because it's Japanese and so they have different culture. Okay, then I will tell you that Sayu is Japanese who live US. So by attacking ONLY Sayu, idk what his intent is.
Second, Legalmindset address this problem and said that Kenji can be sued (and it's clear who will win the case), after that Kenji and Sayu make a tweet to stop it in which Sayu one look like not Joking while Kenji one, even Mujin and some of the comments can't tell if he is serious or not. So, do you really think Kenji is really feel bad about what he did or he is just afraid about Sueing?
Third, Mujin didn't include how Kenji try to frame Sayu. He just said that Sayu retweeting thus tweet and Kenji also do same (but he didn't include ss of Kenji one), not to mention Kenji not only retweeting but also giving 'prove' by posting some picture that there's Sayu and his doxxer together in which he then Deleted because there's Cyyu in it!! Which then he posted again after he crop it (lol). So it's clear what intent he do that.
I believe people who come to this video is on Kenji side and even Mujin is not entirely unbiased or maybe he just lack information because he didn't dig deep enough on Kenji.

i think this also really highlights the problem of having a loyal following in general; whether it falls into the idol, content creator, etc. type of fanbase, it doesn't matter
on one hand it can be a source of positivity and motivation, maybe a fun little community
but on the other, echo chambers are usually the next evolution which leads to tribalism as per usual
sure, the two people who are involved are no longer hostile towards each other
but the same can't be said for their fans as shown at the end and they even fell for the classic pitfall of thinking conflicts being resolved amicably = "they lost, we won, they were wrong, we were right"
it seems that the concept of "learning from previous mistakes" is a really hard-to-grasp concept online
Some commentary channels were already working on a video to cook Kenji from my understanding but ultimately laid off the topic because both Sayu and Kenji apologized to each other and asked people to stop the hate and when commentary channels get involved it only contributes to keeping the conflict alive and active. It was also as you said a risk to talk about because both sides had some of their rights and wrongs. Eventually later, there is so much VTuber drama they do not have time to look back on an old video anymore either. I think this was a better moment for you to talk about this since the topic seems dead and most people moved on from the actual conflict itself and are also busy on the current ongoing dramas involving other people.

"Pedophile" is a serious accusation and shouldn't be used lightly without evidence of actual criminal behavior. The video accusing Sayu of being a pedophile essentially defamed her for a few months until it was removed. Sayu shouldn’t have reacted impulsively there though. Just don’t downplay what Kenji video's did. Defamation can cause significant emotional distress to the person being targeted.

Ok, I don't fully understand sayu here. I get that she wanted an apology, but how could this kenji guy reach out to her if she blocked him off first? How could he ever personally apologize to her if he just didn't have any way to communicate with her? It just doesn't sit right with me. And also making this public with the "karma" subtweet to someone she initially blocked first and creating a fan war?? I think if she wanted to get a sincere apology and end things peacefully from the start, the best way to do it would've just been to keep it between themselves in their DMs, or at least *try* that first, cuz it might've just worked before doing anything else. These fandoms can go very much overboard sometimes and I really don't think getting the public involved was the best idea.
I think the biggest reason as to why Sayu wanted a public apology is that…he stealthy took down the video. Of course if you watch his Twitch streams then you will find him probably apologize but I doubt many Vtubwrs even have the time to catch a stream of someone they like much less someone who they don’t like.

As for whether or nor Kenji's actions are harassment... I would note that Legal Mindset also did a stream on the topic. He opens with asking the following two questions.
1) Do you know if what this person did is illegal in the US? (for the record, everything shown is not illegal in the US)

If you say "no" to either question, you should not accuse them of a crime. That's defamation per se, which is very illegal. The difference between defamation per se and normal defamation is there's a whole bunch of potential shields between you and liability for normal defamation. For defamation per se, there's one: is it true or not. The question then becomes "is this enough for harassment?", which is much more subjective. That said, keeping a video up for a year while you almost certainly know 2 is false is uh... yeah, bit of a problem.
That last part about defamation also applies to any accusations made against Sayu, as it’s also a crime to accuse her of the things she’s been accused of without quantifiable evidence

the absolute blatant racism from Sayu's community was a tad much, seriously I've seen milder reactions from K-pop stans, corpo fans are a different breed.

@@tsukikoamagiri dude pretty much everyone in the west hates them, not just the spergs on Twitter, now will that affect their bottom line, kinda did with their stock prices, but they are still going strong in Japan minus the recent health scandal they accidentally caused over there, but it's also a taboo to talk bad of anything or anyone over there, especially when it's a corporation considering how messed up and almost malicious the defamation laws are over there.
Geez, what a conflict, it makes me glad i am barely on social media couse if things get this exstreme its better to steer clear of it.

To be honest, it may sound bad to use the term idol vtuber fan since not all corpo vtubers are idols. In the end, vtubers are first introduced in Japan. I think it maybe better to use the term east influenced vtuber and western influenced vtuber fans. I myself loved corpo vtubers and prefer it much more then indies and maybe more east influenced on it. But I hate how a lot more western influence plans completely dismisses things like parasocial and Japanese influence because in the end vtuber only become a thing thanks to Japan. While I dont say praise Japan for your carrier, knowing it a bit is good. But a lot of the more western infouenced vtubers ignore it a lot. Idols themselves are not bad. What I hate Kenji is how his attitude on responding to things. I get Sayu may sound a bit aggresive, but his respond is ass completely and also this is the same guy who had his chat dox sayu and didnt elaborate much to stop and even say that Sayu is pdfl and SA. People say shotacon means pdfl which is false. And I think on being edgy I think Kenji is more annoying then Sayu. Its just my personal opinion. But I think our hate on Kenji is justified and dont get me started on his apology
For the record though I like the video Mujin, just that I do think even if your not anime fan and know Japanese things. But bashing people because of things that anime fan know like shotacon etc is weird. Also parasocial is not exclusive to vtubers. Blaming people who like vtubers from corpo because of parasocial even though its not exclusive to vtubers are just bad. If we watch streamers or content creators for dozens of time from said content creators most of the case we had a somewhat parasocial attachment to it

To be honest, I think it's far from reasonable cancelling someone for joking about little boys while playing a game. It's unreasonable to pretend game and real life are the same thing - playing with Xingqiu and thinking of him as the favorite character or wanting to play with the "little boys" in general does not make someone a pedophile. I mean, I know people that make a whole team of the little girls just because they're cute, and I'm talking about my girl friends that literally are just in love with this little girls because they are cute, there is no relation to sexual attraction at all. Imagine transforming all Klee's fans in pedophiles, half the planet loves Klee, this is ridiculous. Razor is my background screen because he is just the cutest and my favorite character ever, I even got a pillow of Razor as a present from a friend because she knows I love his character, that has nothing to do with wanting to f*ck kids, for God's sake! My thoughts of him are between him being my son and my pet (and I'm a mother of a dog, so that makes a lot of sense to me)! Is like calling someone a murderer because they killed people in a killing game, it's ridiculous. I won't even say anything about the other joke because I'm just too mad that this became an issue. Calling someone a PEDOPHILE because of this is just as bad as the r*pe joke, because is not taking seriously a very serious issue in the same way. No one that takes pedophilia seriously would call a pedophile a fan of "little boys" (that are not even that little, Genshin doesn't have a single male character that looks under 14) in a game.
That's it. I just wanted to vent about it because I'm here with my Razor pillow and feeling very offended about this situation. I would also hold a grudge about it, can't blame her. Calling someone a pedophile is just too heavy to joke about it. He should have apologized on the spot.
The lesson we learned is that doxxing is ALWAYS a bad thing, and makes people very angry/sad for a very long time.

I think it may sound different depending on the kind of joke you are used to. I'm very used to dark jokes. I have my limits, like when is a disrespectful joke, I don't aprove of it and I get angry, but when is a "heavy" joke, I'm just used to it. Because, like, it's so far from reality, it's so dramatic, I can't take it seriously. Jokes like pretending you want to "kill and/or torture a character you hate", or saying you will "abuse drugs because you are so stressed", but you don't use drugs and would clearly never hurt a fly, that's normal to me. When I was wishing for C6 Razor, I already joked like "come home, baby, mommy will take care of you, I promise" just to be funny, and this is a funny joke to my friend group, specially because I'm actually known for liking older guys, like 30+ or even 40+.
Obviously, there is a difference between the joke and the real thing. Like, the other day I saw this youtuber calling Nahida his WIFE and saying he's in love with her. This is clearly messed up. For someone to say "oh, but she's 50000 years old", to a character that has the whole appearance of a 6 years old. Even if she is 5000 years old, you shouldn't be attracted to her, since she looks like a kid. So, to me, a true pedophile is someone that makes a child sound more mature than she actually is, like in the Lolitta book, where the protagonist makes it sound like the kid is seducing him by actually acting like normal children do. They don't use the term "mommy" or "daddy" because they don't even consider them to be children. I find it way weirder when they call them "wife", "husband", "boyfriend", "girlfriend" or anything that make them sound like a potential partner.
That being said, about the looks, this is very personal, maybe I think they look older because I've seen older boys with similar looks in mangas. But I agree with you they look younger than they should be. Xinqiu's character could be 17+ by his character alone if he wasn't drawn so thin and small. By Mika's work he should have at least 18, but both of them look 14.
