The “Close it yourself, shitty” running gag from Shaft gave me one of the longest and loudest laughs this year.
Yes, Shaft is such a fun watch 😀.
I have all 7 of those releases and agree that they are can't miss flicks 🙂 Some others I think are can't miss going back to 2020 to present are: Fail Safe, Leave Her to Heaven, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, The Parallax View, Nightmare Alley (1947), Bringing Up Baby, The Incredible Shrinking Man, The Girl Can’t Help It, Lost Highway 4K.
Lately I've been watching some 60's and 70's giallo films for horror -- The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh and Libido most recently.
Hello, pdxsoapopera! All the additional titles you listed are excellent and could have been in this video for sure. Exploring 60s and 70s giallo sounds fun. Enjoy!
Reviews and recommendations very much enjoyed, well done, thank you James. Double Indemnity, you are spot on, a great movie just great. I own or have seen all of these except the Criterion version of Insomnia. So happens the Al Pacino version is one of my very favorite films and I just don't think I can double dip for the older original, but your advice to watch both is in back of mind:). I may have an odd or unusual opinion of Memories of Murder. I bought this Criterion disc a few months ago and it was a mixed bag. Story and acting great, but the color grade (yellow and flat contrast) was so distracting and I was always thinking about how odd it looked; basically it took me out of suspension of disbelief several times. Maybe on my second viewing I will have that grade out of the way and more able to get immersed in story.
Pete, glad you enjoyed the video! The Insomnia remake is really good isn’t it? Pacino, Williams, and Swank are all great in it.
The Memories of Murder blu-ray does have a rather strange color tint to it. I remember it being more greenish looking on my set. I need to revisit it.
@@20thand21stMovies You may be right on more greenish, or green-yellow. Your dawgs took care business last night, my Tide got an ugly win, but I'll take it.
8:22 Sounded like you wanted to say “cannot miss” and “must watch” at the same time.
Ha ha. I was stepping over my words a few times there.
I bought Double Indemnity on Blu Ray then few months later Criterion did it you gotta be kidding me. Haha
Happens to me all the time.😮
Ha, I did same thing! But before I bought the blu-ray I researched the video quality and it was very good per the experts, and for $7 (Gruv deal) I have no regrets. Sure, supplements and 4k would be nice, but the blu-ray is a really good print with excellent sharpness and contrast already, so no double dip, be happy:)
Yes, that happens sometimes. 😀
@@20thand21stMovies happened with Parasite also.
hope that Amazon price matches on the new releases in Barnes and Noble sale in November as I can't participate in these sales as I'm in the UK
Yes, Steve. Hopefully that will be the case.
