  • The IIF file format is a legacy QuickBooks format but it is not directly supported in QuickBooks Online. However, there is a couple of ways that I have found that you can import this data into QuickBooks Online.
The first way is to reformat the IIF file in Excel and then use the Import data feature in QuickBooks Online and the second is using a data utility that can import IIF files directly into QuickBooks Online.

I wonder if you can help me with this problem.
A client of mine wants to export 10+ years of data from Quickbooks Desktop into Quickbooks Online. The new 3rd party Quickbooks uses for this (MoveMyBooks) will only move 2 years of data free of charge and charges a lot for every further year you want to export/import.
Can I use Zed Axis to do this?

Hi Jamie, Yes you can use Zed Axis to move transactions from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online. The first step would be to export the data from Desktop into Excel using Zed Axis and then upload the Excel data into QuickBooks Online. You can test out with the Zed Axis trial version.

@@Stevezedinoz Hi Steve, thank you for your reply. Can Zed Axis export all the data from Desktop to Excel in one process or do I have to export it list by list etc? Can it then be imported into Online from Excel in one process? Does this last import use Zed Axis or is it just Online importing direct from Excel? Thanks very much
