      czcams.com/video/t_SsIKgwvz4/video.html
      i would recommend this
TLDR: punt returns are way more exciting, as the kickoff is always just run up the field and dont change direction whereas punt returns are better, and more horizontal movement, along with some backwards weird stuff some times.
the other thing is the onside kick. every underdog fan loves the onside kick! how could you get rid of a losing teams only hope!???
so, instead of a kickoff, every drive starts with the offense on 4th and 15 on their own 35 yard line. 99% of the time, they'll just take the punt and let the other team at the ball. this creates those fun punt return rules and because its so far away, you get decent starts for drives.
BUT, if you're down 6 with 50 seconds to go, you can fake the punt, or just straight up march your offense out on the field and try for a Minneapolis miracle, or a Hail Mary, or whatever crazy shit you can imagine.
get rid of the injuries of the kickoff, the boring norm and all that bullshit, replace it with the more exciting punt, and JUST very occasionally, a bat shit insane play that might just win you the game.
      TLDR was TLDR
4th and 15 for team that just scored on own 35, usually punt, occasionally Hail Mary, more interesting, less injury.

Who else misses when there was a position called Kick Returner, now they just stick whoever in there. Now we only see a kick return touchdown once or twice a season, when it used to be once or twice a WEEK. Larod Stephens-Howling, Jacoby Ford, Trindon Holiday, Jacoby Jones, Knile Davis, Joe McKnight, Stefan Logan, Percy Harvin, Josh Cribbs, and the GOAT of all returners, Devin Hester. My personal favorites were 2012 versions of Jones and Holiday

Cameron Clark that’s cuz Mike Priefer is a stout special teams coordinator, but Baltimore and Seattle had a ridiculous amount as well...not gonna lie I do miss Percy Harvin, pretty good slot receiver aside from being a great punt/kick returner, glad we got rid of Patterson although it was fun seeing him fly down the sideline, just sucked as a WR, just another 1st round receiver bust the Vikings have gotten

I'm pretty sure the Broncos had the most ran on them in the video. I love the Broncos, but we always let people run it back. Great example at 28:24. Watch the bronco push a guy instead of tackling 😂

@@joshjohnson2753 At least they have playoff victories and a superbowl victory. Had tons of exciting players to watch. I'm sorry but watching the qb run more than the rb isn't exciting to me.

Percy Harvin. Josh Cribbs. Jacoby Ford. Leon Washington. Jacoby Jones. Ted Ginn. Brad Smith. Trinton Holiday, Cordarelle Paterson, and the Goat Devin Hester. Amazing how important and dangerous kick returners use to be.
I understand the importance of player safety, but moving the kickoff up five yards makes star returners in today’s game practically extinct.

Kickers/Punters getting tackles to stop touchdowns/big yard plays?

    • @oliverburke
      @oliverburke Před 5 lety

That would be a sight. Here, after just watching a few, the kickers seem as ineffective chasers/tacklers as they always have. (Please, some kicker commenter, come to their defense or offer an explanation). Imagine if college kickers could 1, kick, of course; 2, tackle well; and 3, be fast on the chase too. That would start a whole new trend...like quarter backs - now it seems like 1/2 of them are excellent runners now. All it might take is one kicker being good at tackling, and it might inspire teams to select & prepare for that. You don’t see (as many) 1/2 hearted attempts of a kicker trying to tackle someone he/she just kicked the ball to in rugby. Most of the time, the kicker can tackle as well as the others. It’s odd to see the too specialized (and ineffective) kicker in football.
What are the reason? No back up kicker? Rugby has more back up kickers, so maybe you cant have the football kicker getting injured chasing or tackling someone.
      What else?

I can think of one. The first meeting between Buffalo vs Miami in 2013. Tennehill threw a pick on the first play and it was taken back for a score.
