- BAIT BATTLES EPISODE 1 - WORMS VS MINNOWS - What Bait Catches More Fish?
Today I'm putting my 2 favorite baits side by side to see which one catches more fish. There are lots of pros and cons for each bait so I was very curious to find out which one was more worth it in the end. Enjoy!

Wrap a worm around a minnow, then hook and throw that winnow out there!!! 🤣🤣🤙✌️🎣
@@KevinRapkochFishing 🤣🤣🤣 that’ll do it lmao. Thanks for watching brotha!
Feed minnow worm, use minnow as bait
@@Birdofthetacklebox big minnow 🤣
That’s actually not a terrible idea, bait a worm then bait a minnow, minnow looks like it is eating the worm but is just trying to get off the hook
@@rohandosadventures exactly!! 🤙🤙 I recently caught a bunch of rainbows with an "egg sucking leech" fly... It resembles a leech or small lamprey that has snatched a salmon or trout egg, and salmon and trout go nuts trying to attack/eat it! 🤙🤙
Worms, both nightcrawlers and red worms, are undefeated for me. Only species I've ever noticed that minnows are specifically better for is Crappie and sometimes White or Striped Bass. But I also love worms because you don't have to be careful with casting it. You can whip them out super far with no fear of losing it on the cast.
That's just my personal experience though.
@@miniHAWKTTV absolutely. I have never caught crappie on worms but funny enough 90% of my stripers were on worms lol. Worms definitely have their advantages but for pressured fish or specific species minnows will get it done 🔥
You can catch yellow bass on beetle spins.. they tear them up every time

@@adanflores4523 the best kind of night is a cold beer after fishing!! I’m glad my videos can add a little something to it. I appreciate you Adan! We’re only just getting started 🙏❤️
In my area we have a strong current. We never yank the rod to set the hook. Maybe we might pull a little against the current. But never rip the lips off the fish. Lol. All jokes aside. I understand you are in a small pond and need to set the hook. Most of us here fish tiny ponds like this for fun teaching out next generation. I dont mean any harm by this statement . Just saying we teach them to be calm and set the hook. Dont rip the lips off the fish. They will get away and have a hard time eating food. Lol. Love your videos, my friend. Please dont take this personally. We just have different locations.
@@Ibanez_74 no offense taken! I’d love to fish big lakes like Lake Michigan down here but we’re rather limited in the desert. Thanks for watching, I appreciate you!
hey man! i see you are missing a lot of fish because they are spitting it out! And i see you have a pretty good size hook! I learned that if you are catching smaller fish you need to have a size 10 hook. so the fish can fit it in there mouths fully. that is a lot of youtubers problem! just try it! Size 10 Hook.
@@hte_rhettr11 hey man! I’ve done a lot of micro fishing, using size 30 hooks. I’ve got a lot of fish with much smaller mouths than the yellow bass on bigger hooks, bluegill have smaller mouths that you can’t even lip, these yellow bass you can lip pretty easily. I don’t have this problem with any other fish, only the yellow bass. And the reason why is because the yellow bass are super finicky and non-committing and will drop the bait before you even realize you’re getting a bite. No matter how many times I go after yellow bass it’s always been like that and it’s never been like that for any other species. I have tried fishing for yellows with hooks as small as size 12 and I still have the same problem every time. Thanks for watching!
@@FishingWithPorter yeah np just letting u know. i love ur vids and just started watching bc i love fishing my self. my fishing is mostly trout though and some smallmouth

I mostly agreed with you. I will like the video. However, I am in a different location. Worms do well. However minnows are way better in my location. I am lucky to live on the Great Lakes. To outsiders they think it is an ocean. In reality, this is fresh water. Mainly because you can't see any shoreline line when out on the lake. It could seem like an ocean to outsiders. Depending on the fish and time of year. We use different bait, including lure. I suppose every best fisherman has the knowledge of the area they are in. If you are born or raised or fished long enough in the area. Just saying in your area. This was a good video, and i appreciate this content. Thanks for the video.
@@Ibanez_74 very cool! I got to fish Lake Michigan once and it definitely felt like being on an ocean. Thanks for watching!

I slowly gave it more and more time for the fish to eat the bait and even giving them like 30 seconds sometime they’d still not have the hook in their mouth when I’d go to set it. The fish that I missed over and over again were 1000% yellow bass. And yellow bass are notorious for dropping bait and having non committing bites. At the end of it all I still landed 10 fish in about an hour, but no matter how I approach it I always lose a ton of fish when fishing for yellow bass.
