- In this segment of The Mushroom Show (full episode here: • How Lion's Mane GROWS ... ), we break down new research that shows how compounds in Lion's Mane are able to cross the blood brain barrier and help grow new brain cells. Scientists isolated different extracts from the fruiting body of Lion's Mane and measured the effect it had on the size of neurons and the number of neuronal connections. The results are remarkable! If this is the same way it works in the human brain, it could explain why so many people experience cognitie benefit from this amazing mushroom.

So glad to find you FreshCap! I was doing a search for lions main! Calgary here!!! 🎊 🎉 🎉 70 years old, still looking for awesome ways to learning! Have a fantastic day everyone 😊
TY for including a link to the paper in the description :)
Fantastic presentation on Lions Mane. Thank you for your immense effort to create educational videos !
Amazing information, I'm hooked, you rock dude!
This was terrific1 thank you very much for doing these. I have SUBSCRIBED!
Wonderful informative content, thank you for taking the time to share this
Thank YOU for checking it out!
Great Content! Keep it coming!
Thank you! Will do!
Your channel & e book taught me so much thanks a lot (:
That's awesome! Is there anything showing any change in regenerating myelin?
I've been on it for about two weeks and I feel amazing
Lions mane + niacin + psilocybin = big brain meal
Please keep doing videos on new research!!!
Thank you for wathcing!

Found 1 yesterday while hiking ❤
just found your channel, great presentation :) "MY" kind of channel
Could you guys make a video about adverse side affects from people taking Lions Mane
I had COVID before the Vaccine came out, I started noticing my memory was being affected. 3 years later I was introduced to Lions Made and so far I have noticed a difference with my memory and the other side effects that came with COVID 😅.
out of curiosity, how long did it take to notice the effects since you started taking it?
I experienced the same thing. You gave me more hope, thx.
Me too! I find my memory is so much better after taking Lion's Mane Mushroom capsules.
thorough video
I've never subbed so fast
I already know what I`m growing next on the farm hahaha
Cheers bud.
I'm surviving brain injury with loss of connections such as smell, taste, and short term memory. Always up for trying things to stimulate improvements
gracias x traernos y explicarnos el articulo científico!
Hey man great vid. Would you be able to make a video on extraction techniques, specifically for Lion's Mane? There's a lot of information out there and without any advanced chromatography equipment I can't know for sure if the extraction was successful. I have some blocks fruiting right now and I'd love to get the most benefit out of them as I can!
i was curious to see and i found out he has one already! czcams.com/video/pjbmb4JLBTY/video.html if you're afraid of the link the video's name is "How to Make a Lion's Mane Tincture (super easy)"
I just bought my brother and myself some ultimate mushroom complex… it’s very pleasant to put into coffee and tea. It enhances the flavor of my coffee. Very balanced.
I assume you have a video on how to eTOH extract the compounds? Greetings from NB!
The Lion's Mane mushroom he's holding look like a Corgi Butt. You're welcome, now you cannot unsee it. LOL
Can't unsee now, my favorite piece of Lion's Mane lol
Super (s)assy
Ruined it for me 😂
Lmfao i hadnt noticed until u said it
@@FreshCapMushrooms how can we stay away from lead and other metals that come with the mushrooms?
Lions mane with psilocybin and NMN is the best thing you can take for an aging brain. The neuroplasticity of of psilocybin along with the neurogenerative of Lions mane and the energy of NMN to get the job done is the best antiaging therapy out there
I dont think thats at all been proven yet.
@@HavokBWR I don't know if anything has been proven
@@kenwin5845 plenty of things have been proven. This is not one of them.
@@HavokBWR you can pick and choose what you want. I also believed dinosaurs had feathers because of early evidence when most didn't...had the same argument...I was on the right side of history then too...you don't always need double blind meta analysis
@@kenwin5845 I never said you did need double blind meta analysis... I said they didn't prove this yet. Then you brought up some drateR Marxist relativism nonsense, as if nothing can be proven... No you can absolutely do tests that prove something or don't prove something and some speculation about animals that exists hundreds of millions of years ago has nothing to do with reality not matching the claims people are making... 🙄🙄🙄🤦
I'm a zombie. I support people who take Lion's Mane. Tastier brains.
I usually eat white mushrooms, but last week I tried shiitake mushrooms I really found it very tasty and tender because of mushroom doctor thanks Alot for your video and knowledge Mr toney to share with us .
will you ever start shipping to europe on your website? Sweden in this case
I swear, lions mane, it’s one of the natural supplement to help your brain is this😊
Yes!
I use the powder form in strawberry and blueberry shakes
So which which extraction method was best? What is the relative dose for an average human?
Can you do a video on making liquid culture please?
Any info on effect of pizza oven heat (~900F for 60-90 seconds) on those extracts? Found some fresh in our small city's food co-op for about $5/lb.
Looks like the price of Lion's Mane is about to go up. Especially if a prominent "influencer" gets ahold of it. Lol.
How is the Lions Mane, or Coriolus, powder actually prepared, is the mushroom boiled, dried and then powdered? The reason I ask is because mushrooms contain chitin and are therefore not digestible so you have to cook them before you powder them, right?
How long was this study conducted for ?
When you’re talking about the growth of cone, are you talking about the pineal gland?
How much for how long or get overgrowth
Is dry or fresh better for consumption
Im really, really curious how Lion's Mane en Psilocybe mushroom compounds interact with each other. Do you know if there is any research done? Would be great to hear your thoughts about it, someday.
Paul Stamets has a combination formula for them. He adds vitamin d
@@macrosenseMany thanks.
The Stamets Stack adds niacin (vitamin b-3) to the lions mane and psilocybin mushrooms.
@@debmalone5840Thank you for your information, this is already more than i have hoped for! I gonna dive into Stamets work.
@@macrosense I believe it's vitamin B3 (ie Niacin)
So?? Whats the best extraction method vs results??
You guys use double extracted correct?
You should establish your own mushroom farm Mr toney
So, what's the best extraction method? What shall I look for?
Dude educates me somewhat but leaves me hanging without actionable conclusion.
We need recipes. Pork Ragu with Lion's Mane. Lion's Mane and Burrata pizza. Sauteed Lion's Mane on a bed of pureed peas Lion's Mane and Cardamon in an Indian-style milk-based confection. I could go on. Please reply with your own recipe ideas..
Interesting that the study is from using the fruiting body and not the mycelium, which is the big debate about where these useful compounds come from.
Not that big a debate from what I've seen. Fruiting body typically contains more of the various compounds. Please share anything you have to the contrary
@@mradjamesable Glad to hear if you think this has been overplayed. I would assume you are right as in my mind it's the fruiting body's only that would be eaten.
I think this is because Paul Stamets is processing the mycelium and i'd have to go find you the numerous links, I mean there was a lot of them when I was looking into it. I remember having a huge debate with someone on youtube about it as it just doesn't seem like common sense to me.
Anyone know of research that correlates intake of lions mane and increase of intelligence in ether humans or animals?
you should add the full episode link to the description as well doesnt pop up for me
Of course, thanks for the reminder!
@@FreshCapMushrooms appreciate it love the show
I take it and it's good.
So it seems that the ethanol extract may be the most desirable form of extraction?
Would a double extraction be needed to get all the desirable compounds?
I am Wondering this too. I am currently taking a supplement that is triple extraction. 2 hot waters and also and ethanol extraction.
Just like Nietzsche was explaining how to become an Übermensch:
- Stamets Stack
- Fly Agaric Microdosing
- 3 Hours Meditation each day
crazy how science slowly catching up lmao
So we don't know if cooking and eating has any benefits?
I just ordered some shrooms
Can you point to studies that show why Lion's Mane fruiting body vs mycelium are better or worse?
eating mycelium is not beneficial at all, imagine eating wood instead of apples. the fruiting body contains all the good stuff. there are a lot of scams going on with people selling powdered mycelium because growing mycelium is quicker and you can skip the fruiting phase.
@@lenzp4133 I was looking for scientific papers. If you follow this channel, you can check out posts like this on FreshCaps website:
**Under the right conditions, the mycelium will start to grow, rapidly devouring and decomposing the organic material in a process known as “colonization.”
The mushrooms are ready to fruit once the substrate is fully colonized- meaning it has been completely consolidated and encompassed by the mycelium.**
What that means is that the mycelium is replacing much of what was the organic material present. Mycelium does have benefits, and in fact, some of the compounds that are found in the mycelium are not found in the fruiting body. That is why I was hoping to find papers that compare the two.
Thank you for your feedback just the same. I appreciate you looking out for people to help them avoid scammers.
@@lenzp4133 There are several studies showing the benefits of ingesting mycelium extracts. Both mycelium and the fruiting bodies have similar benefits and each separately has different independent benefits, so a combination of both is best. However, a lot of the companies creating mycelium supplements give the mycelium enough time to completely ferment the substrate, so sometimes you are getting mainly substrate and not the mycelial product.
Not true, erinacinea are only found in mycelium and they also are beneficial. It is really hard to grow lion's mane mycelium in liquid though.
@@lenzp4133 blatantly wrong but OK
Hi, Im having headache every time i take lions mane is this normal?
Are there lion's mane products that you would recommend? Especially those based from its fruiting bodies?
Dont do it brother check out russo lifts
Ive only found 1 study done on humans that was double blind placebo controled. All the others have been done on mice or not done under controlled non bias conditions.
I have M.S. would this benefit me?
Where can I buy lions mane block kits ?
Martha_mycology
Sorry, which extract gave the better results?
It was dependent on what they were measuring, so water extract for example was the most effective for length of neurons but one of the alcohol extracts was most effective for number of neurites. You can see the results in the paper, link is in the description!
@@FreshCapMushrooms Sorry man, I was multitasking, neither of which ended well hey. Maybe I need that mane in my life aha
Are there any mushrooms that can help with myelination too?
Reach out to Dr. charles, for more clarification on it.
He's popularly known as charlesmyco.
It doesn’t just increase neurons in the brain but the entire body.
Lion's Mane is an exceptional nootropic, but it only works when you take it. Also does anyone else get head-or-brain pain twinges when taking lion's mane ? I do, therefore I only take the lowest dose, but even then i get a few twinges for a day or two.
I was wondering who else experienced that? Feels like different parts in my head are tweaking?

THE WAY GOD SHOW US ......LIONS MANE LOOKS LIKE A BRAIN....
what about the dangerous side effects of lion's mane as it can make you impotent?
