  • Slavs Life Be Like is a wojak animation about life on benches, carpet beaters, and playgrounds in times when no one had a phone. Times are changing slowly and people are drawn into the unknown for a change and an escape from sad grey blocks and the lowest national salary.

Trying certain things, making strategies full of flaws and mistakes, getting punished by life for your actions. Thinking deeply to solve problems that are surely above your experience, only to get results that are dependent on your skills you've got during your upbringing.

So my daughter is 14, and she has started to bring up the car question. It’s still a couple years away, but I do have a car in mind. It isn’t a hot new car or fancy. It’s a 2004 Civic, in decent shape, and it would be a good first car.
The problem is… my feelings on it. It was the car I had when I met my wife. It got us through those long early years that were lean as hell. It was the car that rushed my wife to the hospital when my oldest daughter and son were born. For whatever reason (sentimentality?) I get anxious about giving it to my daughter. I know she’s a good girl, and I know she would be the last kid on this planet to be irresponsible with it.
Maybe I’m just getting old and turning into boomer.

True. But you have to come to terms with life's suffering before you can even hope to forge your own path. If a person can't even suffer through a boring, tedious job that at least has a consistent salary, then what makes him think he has what it takes to be financially independent? That often requires more work initially, is less consistent and safe and is more difficult than working a minimum wage job. Unless you are extremely lucky and get rich quick, which I can't blame anyone for wishing it to happen.

In a way, Julian is kind of like the bloomer in this situation. He believes that he can change his situation and break the mold, ultimately moving past where they're at. Sebastian is obviously a doomer in realizing that you can't always get what you want. In a way, Sebastian finds his own pessimism proven right when Julian resorts to more self-endangering and less-than legit means of trying to improve himself. He ignores long-term consequences for the immediate gain. Sebastian perhaps could be a bit more optimistic, but is more grounded by rolling back his expectations and trying to find a level of contentedness with the hand life has dealt him.
The idea that we can always achieve what we want by wanting it hard enough can be admirable, but it starts to enter the boundaries of hubris when we believe that we can do anything, and becomes self-destructive when we don't attempt to reconcile our expectations with reality. You could be smart, very capable, talented, good looking, rich, and possess numerous other qualities that can get you ahead in life, but you would still be limited by your body, age, societal institutions, emotions, other people, your environment, just to name a few. You can always work hard to open up new possibilities for yourself, but I think the key to achieving true satisfaction with yourself is to first acknowledge that there are and always will be limits to what we can do, and that's normal. Once you do this, your expectations will become more realistic, you'll become less disappointed with everything, and you can look ahead of yourself more clearly regarding what you would like to achieve.

There's a fine line between being positive thinking and delusional thinking. It can be endearing to an extent, but the "i am different and will break the mold" philosophy leads most people to arrogance, rather than confidence.
More often than not, it will lead to self-destruction. Something a lot of young people face. Also people with this mindset are likely trying to take the path of least resistance, while hiding behind the facade that everyone around them are sheep and conformists, while at the same time it's ironically common for a younger person to think of their self-importance in such a way.

I don't want my life to just be about going to work over and over again, doing the same repetitive shit that you don't even enjoy. In my opinion that's a wasted life. You spend all the good years of your life working and when you retire and finally have all the time you need, you'll probably be too old to do what you always wished and your deteriorating health becomes your main concern.
Most work places belong to either the state or corporations, so what we're really doing throughout our life is making the rich get richer, but our wages stay the same.

After the fall of the USSR, most of the satellite states, with Russia included tried to switch to the democratic approach, in the meantime previous members of said parties took as much as they could possibly carry, stealing everything from factories to the gold reserves themselves, selling and exporting the generated capital outside of their countries.
The children of said members of the Communist parties were passed the torch by their parents, using all of the stolen resources to influence the newly planted "democratic" governments, inciting corruption everywhere.
