Even though I got cheated on later, I can say that pretty much everyone is capable of moving on and finding the happiness in themselves, not in the other person.
Though it's much better to find happiness with yourself at first and only then look for a gf... Even if you lose her, it will be not so much of a big deal.

@@zombieluka Funny story actually-- I lost my job that I thought was going to keep me relatively safe until the following decade (and I just quit smoking around that time, so cold turkey). No job, not so much savings, no maidens despite taking great care of my outside appearance, no plans, even-- that was the jolt for me. I thought I had nothing left but to end myself.
And then I revisited the things that made me happy in my teens. I started drawing again and took classes to learn it seriously, learned 2D rigging, created some vtubers in the process, made new friends (not just the bums I hang out with) but people with more passion in life. Now I work for a non-profit for filmmakers, writers, and animators, and do streaming as a hobby.
When I got ejected out of the stagnant life which I thought was my comfort zone, I was forced to change my paradigm to a less toxic one (I didn't know it was toxic and stagnant until I was out of it). Surrounding yourself with people who validate your efforts really changes things significantly.
