- Join us on our Japanese Food Guide in Kyoto Japan. Nishiki Market is known as Kyoto’s kitchen and it’s been around for 400 years. And one of the main reasons why Nishiki Market opened up here in Kyoto is because this very spot run clean and cold groundwater which was used a refrigeration system by shop owners back in the day.
Now there about 129 stores crammed in this narrow 400 meter market and it’s equally crowded with locals and tourists alike. Many Japan tourists and Japan travelers are looking for the best food market spots at Nishki and I cover some of the best shops We try the famous Tako Tamago which is an Octopus with a quail egg inside. We also try Tamagoyaki at Kai, which is a fluffy and elegant tasting Dashimaki Tamago made only with their High-end Kyoto eggs. Dashimaki Tamago is a type of Tamagoyaki but uses a Dashi soup and is usually not sweet.
This is Japan Food Travel Guide for Japan tourists and and Kyoto travelers. So many things to see and eat in Kyoto!

I believe you need to stay with them to get the keiseki meal but there are many great keiseki only restaurants. www.google.com/amp/s/savorjapan.com/amp/contents/more-to-savor/best-kaiseki-kyoto-10-restaurants-redefining-japans-old-world-cuisine
@@HiMikeAndJules I see. Thanks for the list, appreciate it!
hahahahahahaa awesome!!!
Thank you!
For the Japanese curry it is here Fukujinzuke (pickles),. The red pickles you meant are something different and usually served with curries, okonomiyaki, yakisoba...so you often get red miso leaves coloured young red ginger in Japan, this is not radish (like they do in the US ) and is called beni shoga (do not think of gari shoga that you get with sushi).
Wow, I was confused about that and couldn't really find an answer. Thank you for the explanation!
5:13 HOLYYYY that went dark SUPER QUICK!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Why has nobody commented on this lmao! Laughing to myself like a maniac at 1am...
Now I'm really glad I added that important fact lol 😂😂😂.
牛みたい😂
So you don’t have to stay at Izuyasu to have dinner there? Or you had to make a reservation at the Dozen Ryokan?
So we made a mistake while editing. We didnt go to Dozen Ryokan. We went to Izuyasu Ryokan. You need to stay there in order to get the dinner. You can book it with out the dinner or combo package.
My ultimate favorite is restaurant Mamehachi Honten in Kyoto,... they specialize in tofu dishes. In Arashiyama there is London Books,... the first place I could find a complete collection of Dostoevsky in Japanese ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
Wow, Dostoevsky?! That's an incredible find!
Is there anything healthy to eat out there? I mean like at an establishment.. this is all like fried and they even said they were dipping stuff in mayo lol
Sashimi is pretty healthy and there are a bunch of vegan options. I don't know any specific establishments because we like to eat unhealthy things lol
Speak slow the next, for non english speakers haha
Thanks for watching! We appreciate the advice 😊
I stop watch the video the second you went to coco Curry
Thanks for watching before you got offended
