I just got my Joy two days ago. I have two big machines that are still packed since I moved almost six years ago. I just don't have the room to use them. I don't want to do anything 12 x 12 anymore because I mainly want to make embellishments and this machine will be perfect for that. I did not want to spend so much money on this machine but it will fit my purposes and I, also, had to make a spot for the Joy so I did a lot of rearranging yesterday. Thanks for this video and looking forward to seeing more.
Your experience is exactly like mine! We are a military family and it seems the last things to get unpacked are my machines! LOL! I used to scrapbook a lot and the 12x12 was the way to go...now that I mostly do card making...the Joy is more in line with the sizing I use. (:

It is pretty straight forward, but Design Space is a whole other animal. I have a tutorial coming up tomorrow on manipulating a design and adding lettering. It was a real pain, I had to edit so much out just so that it wouldn't be confusing. However, now I know how to use it much better!! (:
I love the cricut joy and yes itis not for everyone it does what I want it to do for me-also from watching this video you have not used cricut design space-for sometime-if your cartridges were downloaded they are found under cartridges-I am so surprised that no one has mentioned this you - every crafter has -there own choice and I respect that because we can all learn from each other-I use the cricut for just about everything I enjoy making-others like all the dies-which I can't afford -but I still think you and your videos are great and honest-technology is the future that is what my grandchildren tell me-anyway hugs to you Vianney

Oh, wow. I am happy to help...I do have several other videos but this is probably the most clear one...as after a while DesignSpace became my enemy! LOL!! I would recommend keeping it very simple to begin with until you get more familiar with the program and cutting materials. TYSM!
I don't think this would be what I would want. I was curious and appreciate you doing the video. If someone traveled with there cricut i could set this being useful. I have an expression and love it. I'm thinking about getting the maker. Love your videos!!
See, I think a lot of people are like you and me...I have the Expressions and it has been my true love as far as Cricut machines are concerned. I have the newer machines since the Expressions and they just don't do it for me. I think Expressions stole a lot of our hearts. She was a good one!

I think what makes this machine desirable is bc it's small and cute. I wish it came in a different color, like rose gold.

As many different die cutting machines as I have, I just never got excited about the “JOY” HSN really dropped the ball on the shipping. It’s just a given that we have $5 cart for craft day and the fact that it’s National Craft Month, so disappointed I spent less than $150 😂
It's so funny, Tracy, because going into the day I don't think too many people were like "Yay, Cricut Joy!" And then the shipping fiasco kicked in right away and it just gave a sour feeling to the whole day. A wet blanket on top of an already damp blanket!! LOL!!

I just ordered the bundle from HSN. I now use a Maker. I have owned every other Cricut, so I had to have this one too. I think I may be a cricut hoarder!! HAHA
LOL! Good luck, definitely use it. Cut paper, vinyl, etc...just to make sure you did';t get a bad blade. Apparently, that happened to me and many others. HSN will give you a 90 day return now, so it's a good time to have picked it up.

The Joy is really cute and I enjoyed your demo, but I still think electronic cutting machines are not for me because my house is where printers come to die.(I print everything at Staples) I'm sure this machine would be a paperweight in a short amount of time😄 I did buy the Empress recently so hopefully that goes well! tfs!

Hello... love you work. So I just got my joy. But I noticed it done have a off button. Does anyone know how to turn it off once your done using it.
I just got my Cricut Joy a few days ago and I just tried my first I was trying to do a card and the mat kept moving. how do I stop the card mat from moving? It was on the sticky mat I pressed down hard to make sure it would stay and the card I was trying to make was ruined.
I wanted to know how to do an image I have that I ve uploaded.on my screen but when I click make it it says project incompatible and that I need to adjust affected layers.can anyone help me please asap .very frustrating

I love mine, you can use any paper and lots of other things. You also don’t need to push it bc it has a sensor that pulls it. 5 star from me

Anyone have suggestions on how to get the best from it. I bought and spent over an hour trying to make a card using card mat. Card kept slipping around which is weird since the mat was definitely sticky, then the app froze multiple times which prolonged the process and then when I finally got things going it didn’t cut right and was more so ripping card stock that I used. But I really wanted to love it for the portability 😢

I would love to sell my imagine. It was a big waste of money and it never worked correctly. I am excited for the joy because I mostly make cards and small things. Great set up tutorial.
The Imagine was probably the biggest fail Cricut has ever made...and we paid so much money for it! I did sell mine about a year ago. I did have some mats to go with it, so the lady who bought it would still get good use out of cutting with it, if nothing else.
andiebearie Andrea I finally found someone that wanted that big ol’. I feel the same way about the Imagine. At first it just seemed so cool to have something that would cut and print, what a waste!

Im with you I love my expression 😅😅😅 . This is 2023 and I got the joy for 85.00😅😅😅. But so far it's not working for me. It tears up the cards when I try to make one. Not happy.

Design Space is a nightmare, even if you get the hang of it. Every day I get better at it, but it is very frustrating.

I have the Maker and I use it quite a bit. If you want to see you cartridges, click on cartridges and then click the filter for my cartridges. Then you should see all the cartridges that you have. The Joy is cute, but the price point is just too high. I'll wait until it comes down. Thank you for your review and showing how you plug it in and set it up.
Thank you, I have had time to play with this thing a lot and found my cartridges...I couldn't believe there were so many already on there but I must have uploaded them when I had the Gypsy. So, they aren't all there but most of them.
I’m gonna pass on the joy. I’m still using the expressions as well and I prefer not to use with computer. I’m still gutted over the Gypsy. I broke the charging port a couple years ago and lost many cartridges because I sold the actual cartridges. Some but not all thankfully. I still have my faves. Thanks for the review ⭐️

Gina, that would be my nightmare! On my old channel people would ask to buy my cartridges all the time after I got the Gypsy, and I politely declined because "what if I ever broke it!?" I am so sorry yours is out of commission. I don't like using a computer or tablet, either...but it seems these people aren't going back...only forward not that. It may be time that i need to adapt but I HATE it! LOL!!

Yeah, there is no reason if you already have the big guys to invest in this little one. Maybe, maybe, if you were new to this but there is so much more functionality from a bigger machine that costs $20 more.

Do you have any tutorials on Design Space or any you could recommend? I have an Air2. I purchased it about 3 years ago on HSN as a todays special. It came with a year of Access with design space, but I could never figure out design space. Attempted one design, but it cut the mat (not badly, but still). I’ve watched tutorials, but the ones I watched don’t take into considerations those that are computer and technology challenged😏. I was tempted to get the Joy, but thought why should I have another machine that just sits on a shelf because I don’t understand the software....I appreciate you walking through each step for this review, not just the cutting of the materials😊
Hello, Terri! So, on my old channel I had tons of tutorials on the Gypsy. I, too, am not the best at computers...but the program is very much like the Gypsy. I keep saying in my Joy tutorials it isn't a tutorial on using Design Space but maybe I should do just that. A beginner's tutorial series.

If i keep it it will be because most of the cutting i do would be about this size. If the price point were $140-150 I would feel better about it! LOL! I just need to see about getting all of my cartridges on there.

As far as the bluetooth? Yes. That's how the Joy communicates with the computer. Enjoy it!

I have a question I am new to Cricut and so I played around with one before what my issue is once I you know print out a design and I cut that out it just leaves a hunk missing and I don't know how to use the space next to it I've been just flipping the vinyl to a clean straight edge but I know that's got to be something I can do so I don't waste vinyl any help would be appreciated thanks.
I don't have this machine anymore, but there is a way to move what you want to cut when you go to cut. When you are in the cutting window, there is an image of the mat with the item to cut on it (on the right side of the screen). If you click on the image, you should be able to move it. That might work.

I totally agree! I do have an Explore Air that I have only ever used once to review it on my old channel, but I still love my Expressions. I have two huge tubs in the garage that hold all of my cartridges. I'm old school! LOL! If I were new to this, I would spend $20 more and get the Explore Air.

kmommy78 Why? Because some of us want to cut vinyl that is longer than 11.5”. The Joy cuts up to 20 feet in length. It is also very portable for those who take theirs to crops, etc.

Love the idea of no mat, but then it means having to purchase special materials... besides, I have a Bother Scan ‘n Cut which I really like, but rarely use, so this is a pass for me.
I do like it, I don't need it...then there's the price point. I have to see about getting my old cartridges into Design Space. I can see why many people passed on it.

Hate using a phone to do any kind of creating. Just too small to be really creative and much too harder on the eyes. A laptop/desktop is the way to go by far! There are many videos out there already showing how to set up the Joy. What's more important is HOW to use it in Design Space (especially for newbies) because it's going to be the newbies that can afford this one instead of the other behemoths.
Unless you live in Australia and they cost $300 ..and the bigger machines are upwards of $450

Thank you sm for responding 😭 Yes like both , .. the vinyl doesn’t come out cut , im not sure if its the blade cutting roughly or what bc it gets stuck on the blade causing it to mush up all together
Great review Vianney! I’ll pass tho..between two Makers and an Explore Air 2 none of my machines are in the way. They sit in their designated spots. I design & send to cut to my machines literally from anywhere and I have a multilevel home. I have zero issues at home or my offices sending my designs to cut lol Cricut I think should have thought about the marketing & PRICE a little better. A beginner would get more bang for their buck if they get an Explore Air 2. Lets be real no one is going to stop buying craft supplies and we continue to make room for that so a little more real estate to cut and make/get more out of all the craft supplies you buy is not taking up that much space at all. 🤷🏽♀️😆
I totally agree with everything you say here! I just seem to never have the room to clear the front (and especially) the back of the machines. Really, that means I don't make the space! LOL! My poor machines, I do love my Circuits just never bring them out. The Joy might get me into using Design Space more (force me to, really) and then I would feel more comfy using it with the bug guys I have. That is a plus, I suppose!

They market this machine as the first machine to do mat less cutting, and long cutting when the brother scam and cut DX, that has been out for over a year
Does both of those things, all they did was make it small, they also said the maker would be the last machine we had to buy they would just keep adding updates and accessories,

Ok, so, Maryace...that is one of my biggest concerns. They ditched the Gypsy, ditched the Imagine, ditched the Cuttlebug...and we can never ever again get accessories that would keep them working. They were all expensive when they came out, too. Ugh. I hear ya!
Ahhh MaryAce this is exactly why I bought the Brother ScanNCut instead of a Cricut anything. I noticed how proprietary Cricut is and I didn't like that at all. Then I noticed they don't allow Joann and Micheal's etc to include their items in coupons and dictate their sales. Then I saw people mentioning the problem you brought up here. You're right they're shady and controlling. I'm like, woo, it needs to be convenient for me. Don't sell me a $500 machine and handcuff me 🤣 I'm thinking if I want to create a really long vinyl thing I'll spend $50 or less for the scan and cut vinyl holder thingy. For those who want to cut vinyl up to 20feet in length, this is the way to do it! This is an easy to use machine that is versatile for paper or vinyl.
