  • He's a controversial figure in the world of business and political funding. In a rare TV appearance the industrialist and conservative advocate Charles Koch talks to Anthony Mason about his political philosophy, the Tea Party, and his reasons for spending hundreds of millions of dollars to influence elections.

      and what values would that be? American values are being proud through-and-through that this country was founded by intellects who studied and created a society based off ideas from Tocqueville and Adam Smith. That everyone here is entitled to liberty and happiness but that’s only achievable thru hard work. Sitting at home and thinking your entitled to govt paychecks isnt American values.

      Well you see, the Koch brother's have an oil refinery right on the Texas shores. They import 500 THOUSAND barrels of oil a DAY from Venezuela to their plant. The Koch brother's also manufacture JET fuel. Venezuela stopped selling oil to our country, and stopped using the US dollar as trade currency. Now our government is over there "Spreading democracy". Ex secretary of state Rex Tillerson, is a major shareholder of exon gas, partnered with shell, a Petroleum based company in the UK. The UK have Venezuelas gold reserve. BOTH companies, exon and shell, make gas, refined from Venezuela oil. Oil that Maduro stopped selling to our country, because we sanctioned them very heavily for "Overcharging" oil, causing the Koch brother's to lose money. Well the Koch brother's make jet fuel. Who in this country needs jet fuel?? You guessed it. Our military. Now we're in Venezuela. Fun fact, the Koch brother's donated 250 MILLION to Trumps 2020 campaign. Why? Because trump is going to get their oil back, from Venezuela. Pay attention to how many people die there. "Rebels", aka, civilians doing everyday jobs, just like you and I.

It was a white collar crime and he served his time. The Koch brothers pursued these changes and it did allow my dear friend to get a well deserved second chance. I think of successful people like the tea kettle, although up to its neck in hot water, continues to sing And then goes on to soothe the soul with its cup-a-tea. I see the Koch family as not sitting on the stool in the pasture expecting the cow to back up to him to deliver his goods. They achieved because they did not let what they were doing get to them before they got to it! You know they have become America's example of a good work epic; they never gave up, there were lessons to learn along the way and they became good listeners. That's why we should look at them politically and anyone else who learned that lesson (Like Donald J Trump) because they "know how" it is done; success does come at a price and with a proven "formula".
    The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all - is the person who argues with him. The first step to wisdom is silence; the second is listening; the third is action. So the very best advice is to see the next 24 hours directly in front of you as opportunity. Choose wisely the direction in which you really want to go to achieve what you want. Putting others before yourself is what makes a leader.

    This is an important "news" piece, and I recommend all to watch this.
    However, please keep in mind that in our modern world this is an entertainment piece and an opportunity for Charles Koch to make his "sales pitch", put forth any "facts" he chooses unchallenged, and to carefully choose the topics for which he will and will not provide comment. We do not know what forces are on the CBS side, but please be skeptical.
    Key points to hear-
    - Koch fully admits that he wants the smallest government possible, even one that isn't funded at all. He is what most think of as "Libertarian", and he calls it "classic liberal". Koch has bankrolled most of the anti-government movement and institutions of the past 30-40 years.
    -As most of you know, no government means no public emergency services, no public education, no public infrastructure projects, no public research, and the list goes on and on.
    - MOST IMPORTANT TO KOCH, and this is not emphasized in the piece, is that no government means no regulation of business and billionaires. This would mean he believes the wealthy should have full right to decimate anything on our planet for their own selfish gain, as if the rest of us shouldn't have a voice at all because we are "poor". This is just what he might believe to be a "fair market".
    - Koch admits to providing major funding for the Tea Party, which has destroyed much of our local, State, and Federal government progress and critical programs for most Americans in a very short time.
    Unfortunately, there is more to this interview and it will air on CBS on Monday.
    Our government and our vote is the power for most Americans. Fight to keep it strong!!

    • @JohnFWitt
      @JohnFWitt Před 8 lety +9

      melbop Etymologically speaking, the word "liberal" just means "free man." Historically, if you were "liberal" politcally, it meant you preferred personal freedom and responsibility over government control. It's why the Koch brothers have stances that seemingly contradict with one another in today's politcal climate, such as being both anti-minimum wage and pro-choice and gay marriage. Over time, the word "liberal" came to refer to a politcal position that advocates social liberalism with *increased* government involvement, and drifted so far away from its original meaning that we needed to create redundant words like "libertarian" to describe the original set of politcal stances. If you look at the etymology, they have the same Latin root (liber) and literally mean the same thing (free man).

      Mr. Koch family is responsible for wanting to overthrow Venezuelan dictator Maduro. Maduro has cut poverty by 20% since in power. The mainstream media is not showing the huge crowds that support Maduro. Yes it’s a communist regime but let’s not act like this is about human safety when the same US government is friends with Russia, Saudi Arabia, North Korea. Now the US wants to throw a random guy illegally without a vote from the citizens into power. Koch purchases oil from Venezuela but they don’t like the prices Maduro was setting so now they want to take that oil. Trump is bought by the elites. You need to go do your research. Koch brothers are no different than a dictator from Germany.

      +batmanthe The Koch brothers donate huge sums of money to politicians, to make sure that the laws are beneficial to their businesses. The Kochs aren't the only ones, but they are more well known. The real problem is citizens united, which classified donations as free speech, effectively allowing legalized bribery in politics. Our democracy is no longer one for the people, by the people. Our system of government is bought and paid for by the Kochs and other super wealthy people and corporations.
