When I had a larger home, a historic Chicago Bungalow, I went all out for Thanksgiving themed with the style of my house. And the day BEFORE Thanksgiving I actually decorated the whole house for Christmas. As a child the period from Thanksgiving to the New Year for me was when my parents weren't fighting. I came from domestic violence and now at 69 years old, I still associate the season with a feeling of a truce between mom and dad, it was my chance to live a quiet peaceful serene existence for a brief period. My husband passed in 2017 after a long illness and I live in Holland Michigan now living a serene existence near the lake. Memories take me back and I'm grateful for having grown to understand love, gratitude, the gift of life and a renewed appreciation of daily wonders around me DESPITE my history with turmoil. I spend these holidays alone if I choose and I don't apologize for it. I'm satisfied with who I am now and I look forward to simple pleasures...like seeing YOU Linda on the channel! Yeah! AND making my Olde English Christmas cake and my Rose petal Honey lavender shortbread cookies... special recipes that friends and family receive as gifts. So yes...I'm glad you're out there Linda and I'm pleasanty sharing my time with others watching what you'll come up with next!

Linda’s home is even more beautiful and warm and welcoming just like her. I was very privileged to the opportunity to tour her house when she graciously invited me and my boyfriend inside. It was a spur of the moment decision when we decided to detour to OKC to visit her iconic garden. We were welcomed like friends and got to experience the splendor of her beautiful garden and cozy and signature style home. What a heartbreaking account to read. I've observed over the years that most people either follow in the footsteps of their parents, or go in an almost opposite direction. I'm glad you decided to go in a different direction when you observed the constant turmoil in the home your parents provided. That is very admirable!

I love the towel rack you have. It is unique and beautiful. Huge bathroom! About all those pumpkins, will be hard to compost. I think I heard you say they would be composted. If there are any livestock rescue facilities in your state, they would love them as donations for treats for their animals. Just a thought! I have seen just a small composter in your back yard.

My Christmas garden style is a jumbo of whatever the kids haven’t taken, old ornaments (silly beat up precious things that my daughter and grandchildren made for me the sweetest and a kind of a woodsy natural vibe. a Christmas wreath and a whole lot of Ameryllis to disguise everything

One of my traditions is to put a scratch off lottery ticket under each plate. Everyone always gets a kick out of it.
Before using the “wicker paint” have your paint store give you the analysis ie paint tint code for future wicker paint jobs and put in journal

I’ve been thinking about you lately and how great your are going to be as grandma, or mom-mom (that’s me) or memaw, or whatever name you pick,with Hubbs as grandparents. I can see you in the garden teaching your little one how to plant. Thank you for all your positivity, it really helps in this crazy world we live.
Thanksgiving is at my sister’s house but I do Christmas at mine. I love to set the table for Christmas dinner on Christmas eve. I light candles and take a pretty pic of it to send the family letting them know I’m looking forward to seeing everyone the next day. I would love to set it a couple days early but with a hairy dog and a dusty bird in the house the night before is the best I can do 😊
As a like-minded gardener, I love your new gallery wall in the bathroom. My only suggestion would be to replace that table under it with a dark green or black wooden apothecary-type chest that would serve as much needed storage for your bathroom fundamentals as well as all of the seasonal decor you will undoubtedly be switching out.

I love the wreath and box that you held on to from your son. My niece and nephew drew me pictures when they were probably 5 & 7. They are framed and hanging in my hallway. My niece and nephew are now 29 and 31. The pictures are some of my most treasured possessions. I'm trying to get my other nieces and nephews to draw something for me so I can make a gallery wall of all my babies drawings.

I love that bathroom!!!! Yes the dark green almost black will look awesome on the wicker vanity. How about a potted palm to put in bathroom??? I love the brittish colonial look too, have it in my study. I have rattan chairs & table, wicker shelves with pictures of palm trees.

I do not set my table extra early. I usually do it the day of (or the night before if we are having more people over). Every year my table is different. Last year I was much more inspired to decorate. This year I've been very low key and I just haven't had the time to decorate so I figured next year is another year, another opportunity to decorate.

Omg I set my table early too! I love the anticipation of this Holiday so much, my daughter is helping me this year, she’s my “artsy fartsy “ kid lol, she has a degree in fine arts so she does all my decorating and picks out all my colors! You know I stood in the Wal-mart aisle on the phone with my daughter picking out a tablecloth, and another women of my age was on the phone with her Hubbs, and she looked at me and said “this is so hard” and we both laughed 😅! I adore Xmas decorations made by kids. I always put up wreaths the kids made from green paint hand prints with their tiny hands in a circle. They are adults now. When I put up those wreaths, it brings a surge of love every time I see them. ❤ I hope you all have a lovely blessed thanksgiving.
I have always loved British Colonial style and your bathroom is beautiful. I love the gold frames with the gorgeous photos, the tall towel stand, and the table is very nice. I did wonder where you got the wood-topped corks?

We have been going to our son’s home for thanksgiving the last few years however when we did host Thanksgiving and now Christmas and New Year’s Day I always set the table ahead. I hate to rush to get it done. Linda, PA.

Nevertheless I enjoy watching the people like you who do celebrate Thanksgiving.

As I see white high light on flowers pictures, it make sense to leave white on the legs of table, if you paint black, it will clash with pictures. It is master piece Art. Gorgeous bathroom.
