I think you would benefit more from the one that goes straight out with the metal bars. Also, another one over the door to the garage would be beneficial during the rain, while carrying the style to another area in the backyard.

Hi from Annie it is nice to look around and compare to previous garden both nice. Are you going to Scotland for holidays with huby or by yourself? How long will you be gone for?

Think about large strip awinings with your gray maybe two shads of gray. I have seen them done in stripes they are great! Go on line and pull up proven winners and see if you cant find them on one of the ladies in the companys home. It was a tour.

Welcome when you come to Scotland when you get here , you will find it a lot cooler here so be prepared , also possible rain, but enjoy yourself .I am English but have lived in Scotland 12 years , and enjoy my gardening very much .

You may want to repeat the curve of your steps with your awning. Just a thought.

Omg I just pulled some dead petals off of my geranium flowers today. I wondered as I was doing it, if anyone else did that. It just seemed crazy to toss the whole flower! Great minds thing alike. 😂

In the beginning, I worried we might see a wardrobe malfunction and kudos to Stewart for being discreet in showing the plants as Linda leaned over some plants. 😆 I did realize the camisole before Linda commented on it. I say, go with your first inclination for the awning. Simple design. When inclement weather hits, you'll appreciate having that protection from rain. How fun you're going to Scotland! My eldest brother and SIL are in Czechoslovakia right now. I'm envious.

Good ideals on̈ hanging up some cover on your house. You could also put a large narrow container to set on the ground in front of the brick wall. You could put tall plants maybe 3.or.4 Arbravities to cover the wall or you could put clumping bamboo there and have no maintan̈ce. Just some ideals. Back yard looks great!! TEXAS 9

No, I do not pick out spent bits of a geranium flower. The spent part of a flower does not bother me.

I feel the other house “the fairytale house” still fits Linda best. It’s so much more classy & romantic. But, I also understand how sometimes it’s time for a change.

About the awning...get the dome shape if you get the other it has a issue collecting a large amount of rainwater if there is a downpour. Since there will not be a gutter to catch, the dome is the answer. I have a flat with metal bar and even though there is a gutter above it, I still have to raise up to dump the rainwater off.

Hi Linda, yes I pull the fading flowers and leaves on my geraniums, roses and foxglove. What a thrill going to Scotland and I hope you see some lovely gardens there too. Today I had a joyful moment watching a bumble bee enter a flower “tunnel” of the foxglove. Happy travels! I love a canopy, with the arms that have arrows at the tips.

I vote for straight awning with support bars on both house and garage. You have a lot of curves in your yard (my favorite type of line) so some contrast would be a nice way to stop the eye at a focal point. Your yards are looking beautiful. unbelievable how much your plantings in the back have grown in. So pretty!

I'm leaning towards the dome because it'll mirror the shape of your lovely stairs. Sydney has transformed the backyard into a lovely space suited for her needs. Both the former design and current design are beautiful. I'm with you on a smaller backyard because I can spend hours and hours taking care of mine. I was just thinking about that the other day and now I'm considering moving because of it.
