When I buy real pumpkins for the season I save the stems, dry them out & then glue them on any faux pumpkins for the following year. It’s a game changer in making the fake ones look real.
Linda, your neighborhood artists' chalk work is sooo charming! Beautify and good will always follow you everywhere you go! Goodness, I know that your second mom would be so thrilled and honored to know how much you value all of the lovely treasures she gave you! I absolutely love how you displayed her delightful cake stands for fall! It is so gracious of you to share with us that these cherished gifts came from her. Happy Fall! Linda 🧡🍁
The kiddos did a nice job of decorating. I bet that was a lot of fun for them. I can’t wait to decorate for Fall. I too decorate in two or three seasons of Fall. I noticed today that quite a few acorns have fell. I need to bring some in for decorating. Thanks for the reminder. I love the wreath on your front door. Fits the window perfectly. I put up wreaths for Spring, Fall, Christmas and sometimes St. Patrick’s Day.
Omg, I am SUCH a wreath person!! I established a tradition of putting a wreath on the outer front door of my Tudor home over thirty years ago! Now I also put wreaths on my side door and garage as well… I change them with each season and each holiday! I also use wreaths indoors, although not as extensively. It’s just one way to express myself artistically and I enjoy it immensely. Many thanks Linda! Much affection from the city of Detroit!
I enjoyed this episode so so much!! I love them all, however, I especially enjoy the seasonal and holiday ones. Your ideas are so simple and unique and that’s my favorite style. Thank you ! 🙂
So much enjoyment was had from this episode! I miss your stacked bracelets. I adore your stacks and the stories behind them. I look forward to more stack stories! Everything else was a mind read for me. Your such a joy to follow . Thank you Linda for all that you share!
Love your Saturday videos! Sooo informative and fun! You have helped me so much. Example, one videos was about just showing up for people. I took that to heart! It does make such a difference in my relationship with family and friends! Thank you, Linda, for sharing your life and what you have learned over the years! ❤️
I always look forward to your decorating tips. We are celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving this year because some of my married grandchildren will be at their inlaws for traditional Thanksgiving. So therefore I'm decorating very early this year! Thanks for all your tips and guidance!
I absolutely love these Signature Style Saturdays! You have so many great ideas for decorating...thank you for sharing them. Your neighbors children are very talented...love the pumpkins on the steps! 🎃
I collected Burr Oak acorns and soaked in vinegar water and dried in the oven and then sprayed with a matte sealer. This was done today to make my own bowl fillers. They turned out beautiful and added to the orange slices I dehydrated too. I love fall!!!
what would be the ratio of v & w? What temp for drying and how long? This sound so interesting....now have to goggle Burr Oak just to see what they looked like. Great idea.
I googled to get an idea of that. I just started out with 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1 1/2 cups of water. Added the acorns and just added more vinegar and water to cover and put a plate on top of that to keep them submerged. Soaked for about 25-30 minutes then drained on paper towels, then I put on a cookie sheet lined with two layers of tin foil and put in a 175 degree oven for about two hours. Let them cool down and they were dry. When cool, I sprayed with a matte sealer. they turned out very well. I had three sizes of pinecones, added the acorns and tiny pinecones that I bought at the craft store, cinnamon stick and my dried orange slices, added little sprigs of dried hydrangea. And put a couple of drops of scented oil. Very happy with how it turned out.
Linda, I received a square American Fostoria cake plate for Mother’s Day and now you have given me a great idea to display it that won’t make me fat🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
So wonderful to have children in your life. Love the sidewalk. I bought ceramic pumpkins @ the dollar store & use them every year on my front steps. I so enjoy all of your videos & am forever cheered by your happy face & positive attitude. God bless you dear. 🙏🍁🍂🍁🎃
Instead of wreaths... I am more a metal or basket type door decorator. I enjoy filling them with seasonal greens or mini pumpkins and artichokes, pears berries, whatever speaks to me for the season. But I think your Terrain wreath is perfect with your round window in the door. And the more it weathers, the better I like the metals in the garden. Love the white pumpkins mixed in with the muted oranges and greens. I am definitely team fall! Oranges, merlots, moss, taupes and aubergine. To me, the stems are everything. It makes me so mad that so many places cut them off!!!! Like you, I am a collector of cake plates and stands and any kind of dome. I was crushing on the two green glass ones in your island cupboard. What a stunning color. And I am all about urban foraging when I am out walking.
The kids did a terrific job on your walkway. ❤I love the white pumpkins, and I tend to use both, but I am a traditionalist at heart and usually stick with the large orange pumpkins 🎃.
I’m in the southern hemisphere so going into spring. But as for autumn and pumpkins - we don’t do any. In Australia we decorate for Christmas but that is about it. Maybe a bit of Halloween decor if you have kids. No seasonal decoration here.
I've had The Undaunted Garden since the 90's . Gardening in New Mexico has it's challenges. The photography is beautiful and inspiring in her book. Yes, green chile season is in full swing and it smells wonderful. BTW~ Love your trousers..
I am definitely a wreath person, but I keep to classic styles that I put on my double front doors. I love your front door wreath! I very much like the white pumpkins, and I decorate with all different color pumpkins, white, orange, green, smoky blue, in my gardens and at my front doors. This video was very nicely done. I enjoyed hearing your tips and tricks.
GREAT SHOW! Love the chalk art. The pants are fabulous! I’m in LOVE with those white pumpkins and white cake stands. The wooden candle holders are artistic and so unique. Keep inspiring us. ❤
I found HAPI GRO Landscapers Mix. I drove from Holland Michigan to Little Rock and at this nursery they had 5 bags left. Yay! I had traveled to Ark for a garden tour and was lucky to find it! So excited. I like that those pants come in a short length. I ordered The Undaunted Garden...looking forward to relaxing with a good read.
My favorite time of year …Fall! Just found a box chalk thank you Linda for the idea. It will keep my guest and their kids visiting in the next hour busy! ☺
I decorate 3 stages of fall also! Late summer mighty oaks and trees still have leaves and I enjoy longer shadows and reflections through my windows so I put away standard table top items and move in sparkled cracked glass and some green pumpkins, acorns, transition hsb’s den mantel and all throws! Having so many trees and birds I no longer use spring summer wreaths dt nest building issues. Sept 1 my autumn door wreaths are placed!
I love the opening shot from the street the house and landscaping looks gorgeous! The wreath on your front door looks perfect and the chalk artwork is so sweet. I am 100% a wreath person. I did my outside Fall decor already and just working on the inside. It's my favorite time of the year. I love the traditional colors of Fall but mix in some real white pumpkins outside to break of all of the orange.
Loved the sidewalk art!! I’m like you, I’m always foraging nature when I’m outside. The last of my zinnias on my desk at work, I’m pressing them now between reams of paper to give to my nursing team in a few weeks. Always enjoy your videos. Your house is a magazine.
Linda, I have been watching you for months now without commenting but I wanted to say that you look fabulous today (as always) but I can see how you are aging backwards. You look 35 or younger and I have heard you mention your age a couple times.....hard to believe!!! By the way....your home and gardens 💚 are gorgeous 💚
Hi Linda! I am definitely a wreath person for every season. The one you have on your door is perfect! I love how it fits around the round-door window. I am looking forward to your fall decor, especially your Christmas open-house tour. Enjoy this beautiful weather. Thanks for keeping us posted on your cottage garden. It looks beautiful!

As a wreath person, I have so many that I store them on walls and on every door inside of my hallway. My hat racks have wreaths and I switch them around as the seasons change.
Love the chalk art! You will be a fantastic grandmother. Yes, I am a wreath person. I have double doors which I adorn with different wreaths every holiday and season. Love your beautiful, metal wreath. I like all colors of pumpkins and gourds. Thx for another great video.
I had a total Linda Vater day....I started out trimming up a privet shrub to be a small tree AND I went to my local salvation army store and scored some great items. Linda, you are such a wonderful inspiration to live our best life!
Love the white pumpkins. We are doing the white-and-teal theme throughout, which is popular in shops now. So, it's easy to do and looks great moving into the holiday season.
You must have been pleased how well that wreath fit in the door window! Looks like it was designed to fit. I remember when you bought it. I like the white pumpkins but am more of a gourd gal… for the shapes and colors. I like them on an amber glass platter.
Hi Linda and Stewart I prefer the fall color pumpkins outside with stems and I have faux white pumpkins indoors which I bought from JoAnnes years ago. Fall is my favorite season for garden show and clothes. My daughter loves board games! I like to read. You look terrific! 😊
I purchased the wreath when you first recommended it. It’s still hanging in my patio above the fireplace. I love it! Thanks for your great recommendations!
How beautiful are those white pumpkins I don't believe I have ever seen them here in Australia. Love your decorating ideas and tips your home is a dream. Thank you for sharing
I love the orange pumpkins...love adding orange and leaf colors inside my house in fall. I appreciate your blues and the apple picture on your wall! linda from NE
Absolutely love the neighbor children’s chalk art!! Thank you for sharing the fun! Fall in N FL Zone 9, looks a bit different for me. But, I enjoy slowly adding new decor, plant warm colors like mums. I’m a wreath girl and like dried flowers, eucalyptus, & boxwood premade ones. If I had the materials, I would try one myself like Laura of GA does. Her latest dried floral wreath is absolutely beautiful and she grew all the flowers. Love SSS, thanks for all the effort and work your team put into this video. 🍁 🍁🌻🌻🍅🍅
Great pictures on your sidewalk steps to your house so cute. Love your outfit and shoes I didn’t see the link to shoe I use to have a pair after my bunion operation 20 years but I’ve thrown them away so I need a new pair.?I love the idea of cake stands I’ve been looking for them but no luck. Love the man chair and the arm tray must get one. See you tomorrow
Oct 1 my velvet pumpkins of all colors are placed in every room and the fake and real pumpkins placed outside. We may have some blackbirds, a scarecrow, fall metal signage, but Halloween decs passed down to the grands!
I like all colors of pumpkins. Ordered a pair of your trousers!!! Also pulled my glass cake stand out to use as riser for my white pumpkin. So used lots of your ideas from this video.
Really enjoyed the spirit of bringing fall in on this visit. I remember that beautiful sycamore leaf vividly. Stuart may want to edit the video on about 30.45. Love the candid behind the scenes, but some comments will follow for sure.
You should listen to Esther Perel's podcast "Where Should We Begin?" (By the way, she pronounces her first name "Es-stair"). She is from Belgium, has the most wonderful accent and is so insightful. The game sounds interesting!
QUESTION How long do your pumpkins last in your zone? Here in zone 8b, if I bought pumpkins now, they wouldn’t last till Halloween. I love your book selections and suggestions.
Linda, a little warning by picking up finds! We had a photographer friend ,one Birthday he gave me 40! Pictures with my butt in the air. I said that was not nice to take pictures of that side off a lady, his reply was that is alI I ever see if we go for a walk 😂😂 sadly he passed away, but every time I pick up something, I have to think of him. My finds this weak, a feather, a ginkoleave and a acornbundle.
So nice of you to let the neighborhood littles decorate the front steps . Help them grow into gardeners.!
It’s super sweet!

To kill any bugs and get dirt off.

The chalk art was so sweet and I like your white pumpkins. I just put my fall decor out this week which includes my blown glass pumpkins.
In New Zealand the only time we buy pumpkins 🎃 is to eat them, we don’t use them for decoration.

Charlie did a nice job. Jackson, too.
This was so sweet to see. Her little art work was absolutely beautiful 😍😍😍
