I was to Japan 10 years ago but will be back in May 2023. I love your videos and will try as much street foods as I can eat in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka :) Do you have recommendation for a Ryokan that serves haute cuisine for dinner in Kyoto - please not too expensive though!
Hello, Im so excited to finally be going to japan in march 2023 (3 years delayed, ) I'm staying in the Asakusa area. one interesting restaurant I am looking at it is Asakusa Mugitoro Main Branch (浅草むぎとろ本店). Have you ever been there? From the articles I see online it is like 3 restaurants in one, including buffet options. And its signature dish is grated yam, which is something I don't usually see highlighted in most restaurants. Of course I don't know if I like grated yam but I would be open to try it.

If you are looking for yam, I would also recommend a place called Negishi. The main dish at this restaurant is beef tongue (Gyutan), but they also have yam as a set meal. The price is about $15. That seafood himatsubushi looks so good. Is it okay just eat at izakaya without order any alcohol? I don’t really drink alcohol whenever i travel overseas alone.
It's okay if you don't force yourself to drink. Most shops in Japan provide water for free. And if you're traveling alone, you'll feel more comfortable ordering something with pictures on the menu. Japanese dishes are almost the same as the menu photos.
