      Jimi Prairiefire The reason the comedian got upset and started picking on the audience member, is because the audience member kept interrupting the comedian. Once the comedian starting interrupting the audience member on stage, the audience member got upset. It's ironic because the audience member thought it was okay to interrupt the comedian, but got upset when the comedian interrupted him.

      The comedian is heckling the heckler, after pulling him up on stage to show him how difficult comedy is, particularly when performing in front of a large audience. The guy thought he could do it better, fell flat on his face, and became the routine.

    First rule: Stand-up comedy is a lot harder than it looks.
    Second rule: Stand up comics make it look easy because they practice.
    Third rule: If you try to do what they do without practicing, you're probably going to fall on your face.
    Fourth rule: If you try to do it while drunk, you will DEFINITELY fall on your face.

      The fact you teach witting is unsettling.. that link shows all the definitions of the word 'rule'. The correct phrase / word to use in that context could be 'suggestions' or 'things to keep in my mind '. But definitely not rule. I sincerely hope they don't allow you to teach children.

      It's also always entertaining when someone says "I looked that word up in the dictionary and you're using it wrong!" Omar, see also: rule of thumb, general rule. Learn the difference between "denotative" and "connotative." It's admirable that you know how to use a dictionary--now learn that the language lives and breathes beyond the pages of the dictionary, as well.

    • @mattis537
      @mattis537 Před 8 lety +7

      god damn, its like arguing with my sister, Both mike and mic commonly appear as shortened forms of microphone, but mike is the accepted spelling in most dictionaries. Mic presents difficulties because it looks like it should be pronounced mick and because it produces the problematic participles miced and micing. Miked and miking work better. Of course, however the word is spelled, it is a verb mainly in the phrase mic/mike up, meaning to put a mic on someone or something.

    • @KingInky13
      @KingInky13 Před 8 lety +16

      Mattis vik Nice copy and paste from Grammarist, however it's not correct. Look on any piece of audio equipment, and it's spelled "mic". This is also why the Associated Press Stylebook no longer uses "mike" and uses "mic" instead, arguing that as a noun, "mic" is correct, but as a verb "miked" or "miking" may be correct. English is one of those languages where the "normal" rules don't always apply, like how "vegetable" becomes "veg" with a soft "g" sound, while "leg" still has a hard "g" sound. Or how "rough" and "though" are pronounced completely differently even though they have the same last 4 letters.
      Hell, even you admit it should be spelled "mic"
      ("...meaning to put a mic on someone or something.")

    A risky move calling him out on stage but one that really paid off in a very funny way. I just love the way the heckler slinks off with bowed head at the end. I have to give major kudos to Joe for maintaining his composure and keeping the situation under total control. An awesome example of the right way to deal with unruly audience members.

    This was pretty much "Oh, you think you can do my job better? Well come on up here and do it." Don't know why anyone would wanna heckle someone who does jokes and comedic insults as a profession. It's like a boxing fan with no athletic background challenging a real boxer to a fight.

    Loving how the the heckler interrupting the guy's set gets up and complains that the actual comedian is interrupting him as he tries to deliver his "material." He seems very frustrated about it, yet can't seem to find the connection.
