- This wonderful album form the Melodians was released in 1978. The record is a Sky Note UK press but the most songs are recorded in jamaican studios like: Black Ark Studio, Randy's Studio or Treasure Isle. Produce by Ms. Sonia Pottinger with engineerings help from: Lee 'Scratch' Parry, Erral Thopson and Erral Brown -- / rastawelt
According to Lee Perry biography this album was actually partially recorded in his Black Ark Studio in 1973 and produced by Sonia Pottinger but released only in UK in 1978 that is the reason why it has that early reggae/late rocksteady feel and sound
thanks for the info :)
You're welcome bro ;-)

Excelenteeee...real reggae roots.
Beautiful. Thank you for uploading
from what i read on wiki (could be wrong) the melodians, back in the 60's, were one of the first groups to move from ska to early rocksteady/reggae. If anyone knows better, please feel free to correct my ignorance. I love vocalists here, among the best of reggae groups. I'm not a reggae expert but i've always felt the male jamaican singing voice very pleasant to listen to---of course there are exceptions, but i generally enjoy jamaican singers all the way back even before ska and while i'm something of a johnny-come-lately to reggae and jamaican music i think the singing is what mostly draws me, although i hope it doesn't sound a putdown, i've been drawn of late and both to the love songs and sometimes to the spirituality
nostalgia...the scratch is exciting
The early version of Don't Get Weary is great to hear, and No Galong So is new to me, and a great find! Thanks!

WowW!! love this music mannn

Showwwwww
album 1977 but has very early rocksready on it
I don't know when the tracks are recorded but it hear like late 60ties/early 70ties.
On discogs.com I found some songs of this album as 7" but theres listed with 1977 or "Unknown"
Just skipping around and listening to parts of each track, there's no rock steady here---only early reggae and reggae. If you want to hear rock steady by the band, only Swing and Dine Heartbeat comp will suit your needs.
rocksteady never dies. A snobish BBC aunt (older video) informed about the eighteen month of the short rocksteady episode and spoke about Downtown (Kingston, Jam.). But she meant the poor parts.
Pancada
4:15 some change of key or pitch? Good effect though
