- Somehow i recieved the Turtlebeach Stealth Ultra controller early. Im just and average gamer and when i preordered this controller there weren't ANY reviews at the time so since i purchased this controller with my own money im not under any embargo so even though i don't do reviews i decided to do a review and deepdive so other games could ask the questions that i wanted to know before paying $200 for it 😂. But hey im here to give back to the gaming culture so if you want to check it out or if you have any questions about it don't hesitate to reach out on social media. Peace ✌🏿!

UPDATE: So after calibrating the thumbsticks from the controller itself not the app and turning ALL deadzones to 0 there is 0% stick drift.
Other big channels have now covered this controller however anyone who watched this video I greatly appreciate you. Also stay tuned I just got notification that my Astro a50x will be arriving in a couple of days so I’ll do a full review on that as well.
So after about 24 hours of gaming, I can give more feedback on the controller.
Pros
1. The buttons are all so soft so my hands aren't as beat up after a 5-6 hr session
2. The adjustability right from the controller is golden
3. The weight of the controller really does make it easier to game without getting hand fatigue
4. The screen is awesome being able to see everything really quickly without looking anywhere else
5. The thumbsticks are pretty good and they don't allow thumb slipping as much as I thought they would
6. The snappiness of the thumbsticks i can say are phenomenal. My snipe shots are snappy and as crisp as i've ever felt them.
Cons
1. The wireless dongle when plugged into your pc and the controller is turned off it KEEPS blinking white (which is annoying as hell)
solution i used some electrical tape to cover the light.
2. Design, now i know this is subjective however for me im more of a clean looking classic guy so the design is absolute gamerish and im ok with it but this controller
will NOT be sitting on my desk if im not using it for gaming since it looks almost too gamerish (i am a grown man you know, well mostly 😜😜)
3. You cannot map the bumpers, the stick clicks and you cant map the start or select button either to the back buttons.
4. You cannot change the brightness of the white light directly under the xbox button. On the elite 2 you can lower the brightness so the light won't be so distracting.
The more i use the controller i will continue to update this thread with pros and cons.
Thanks for the updates! Just found your channel from this review. I just pre-ordered the controller, hopefully it stands the test of time
😅m.
Thanks for the update.. have u had a chance to test the polling rate or can it be overclocked ?
I like controllers that are gamerish, or, extremely gamerish, so is it okay if I get one of these? >:3
@@ThunderTheYellowJolteon dude if you love gamerish controllers you will LOVE this one. And i do like the way it looks its just that my current setup im going for more of a business/studio look vs a gamerish look. I think you'd love it though.
I've been waiting for a review on this controller for a week straight ever since I saw it and had to preorder. this review really covered everything I was curious about. thank you so much. can't wait to get mine now. you're so lucky to get it few days early!
I was doing the same thing bro 😂. I figured since I got it early I would do a makeshift review since I was literally searching for it everywhere 😂.
I got the device more than 10 days ago, and used it for 3 days, and this is my impression:
Pros:
1- The thumbstick is the best ever, and it improves your accuracy in shooting games, and there is no drift, even with zero selection in the deadly point, and with the maximum speed mode, it is truly amazing and amazing.
2- The control screen is fantastic and very beautiful, it made the adjustment fast and comfortable.
3- The buttons are very great, especially the arrow buttons, I no longer make a mistake in pressing the left and up arrows, I am currently using a GameSir device, and the arrows in it are bad, when you press the left arrow, the up arrow is pressed with it!!
Cons:
1- The R B and L B buttons are not prominent enough, and this is something that bothered me somewhat, sometimes you do not realize that you pressed them!!
2- The same applies to the rear wing buttons, they are not prominent and difficult to reach.
3- The hand size is a bit big, and when I hold it it is a bit uncomfortable, unlike the GameSir, the GameSir controller is very comfortable, and the size is acceptable.
4- When I was playing and the wire was connected for charging, I was subjected to continuous electric shock from the small golden circles designated for wireless charging on the back, which bothered me a lot, and I had to return the controller after using it for three days, but it seems to be a manufacturing defect.
In the end, thank you, my dear brother, for the wonderful review.
I repeat, he is not a review channel. Great video though
This is exactly why I watched this video. Review channels are usually paid for and not as critical of products. This was a great review from a fellow gamer.
Solid video bro I pre oder it before I see any video urs is the only one I could find so thank you for the video I appreciate the time you spent on it and will definitely sub
Glad i could help bro. As i said in the video im not a reviewer im just an average gamer and i scoured the internet for a review 😂. So when the gaming gods blessed me i just knew i had to give others what i didn't have, a decent gamer review.

Trun in to a reviewer your good at it
@@BloodHound19 I’ve thought about doing it for a while it’s just SOOO many review channels that it always discouraged me from making one. I might give it a shot. Thanks man.
The Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra Controller doesn't come with a power brick because USB cable is supposed to be plugged directly into the Xbox/PC. The charging dock has a USB slot on it for the Dongle. Why is this important?
It allows the Dongle to be daisy chained through the dock to the Xbox. This method allows you to turn on your Xbox from the controller (pressing the Xbox Button). One of the only Xbox controller with a dongle I know that can do that.
Im not on xbox though im on PC and to be fair most things don't come with power bricks today anyway. Looking at you Cell phone companies.
@passthesmoke You right $1,000 to $2,000 phones with no power bricks. LOL
Oh, Nice setup by the way. That monitor and RTX4090 are 🔥🤌
@@StoneKingx Thanks bro. NGL that corsair xenon flex is by FAR the next monitor I’ve ever used and the 4090 is crazy too. I have the MSI suprim water cooled model and it never gets above 45c.
How are you the ONLY person showing this. Enjoy the extra traffic bro
Id also recommend keeping the deadzone how it was or slightly increase worst case as hall effect uses magnets and theirs a natural static effect that happens.
Literally the only reason i made a review was because i never got to see one bro 😂. But i calibrated the sticks and left the deadzones stock . Im sure that they put them like that for a reason, great advice.
@passthesmoke yeah there all coming out the woodwork now. But you got first dibs and answered all the questions I had for the device in the video.
You earned my sub brother.
@@Kamen101 I appreciate you for watching bro 💪🏿.
I like how you filmed the setup experience. You should do more reviews, your take on reviewing it from a consumer perspective is refreshing. I ordered one for PC use, but returned it a few days later because of the excessive grinding on the sticks after a few hours, and the d pad locking up when pressing down and trying to go right. That d-pad is actually one of the worst I've ever tried, even without the sticking problem. But then again, I was an early nineties Sega kid, so I'm probably spoilt d-pad wise. Also, the display had a slight tilt to it. To top it off, sticks stopped responding in a few instances, requiring a game restart. Even after updating usb receiver and controller. Very weird stuff. It seems build quality is an issue, with them trying to get it to hit stores right before christmas. Battery lasted about 7 to 8 hours, with all the bells and whistles turned down. In my eyes, price/performance ratio is way off. I'm going to wait for the gulikit KK3 max to hit amazon later this month. It'll probably have it's own issues, but it will probably cost much less and might be easier to repair.
Ahh makes sense. The only issue I’ve had with mine is the back p1 button got stuck and I’m have to send it back for a replacement. The battery life for me with no rgb lights was about 20 hours. I also had an issue once where the controller wouldn’t turn on and I had to hit the reset switch. All in all between the no drift and the Hall effect sticks I’m kinda stuck with it now since my FPS brain is wired to it and it would take me probably another month to readjust to competitive halo with the elite 2 and to be fair I’ve had 6 of those over the years due to ongoing issues. For me the Hall effect sticks and being able to game without any deadzones I will keep it. More than likely what I’ll do though is buy another one to when one breaks I can send it in for a replacement and still have another to game with 😂. That’s pretty much what I did with the elite 2. I don’t think there is a perfect controller however if the elite 3 (I’m sure they would make one right ) has Hall effect sticks I’ll buy that one too. Because of the back buttons/paddles I’m stuck with a small selection of controllers and now because of the Hall effect sticks my selection got even smaller. Hopefully the industry catches up and ACTUALLY give gamers what we need.
@@passthesmoke oof, six elite 2's, that's harsh. I wonder how they think that's an acceptable fault rate. I think I'm done 'premium' labeled gaming products for a while. Just picked up a 30 year old megadrive yesterday: both pads still work as if they were new ;-)
It was always minor issues like the lb not working three times or the drift got soooo bad it ruined my FPS experience but it was still the best of its kind then however I will keep experimenting with new products to find the perfect controller for me and really if this one lasts a full year it would be longer than ANY other controller has lasted without anything breaking not including stick drift which usually happened around 2-4 months of use.
@@passthesmoke wow, that's just inexusable. Maybe I just don't game enough for them to break. I do have a few joycons (3 pairs) that simply refuse to break, so luck also seems to be part of the equation :-D
I was super interested in this controller but after learning that R3 and L3 can't be mapped to the back buttons is a deal breaker for me. Hopefully they can change this in a firmware update but until they do, I can't even consider this controller.
Understandable bro. This controller isn't for everyone.
I imagine there will be an update for that very soon.
They just updated this feature in the 1.04 firmware update
They just updated the controller for some bug fixes and the thumbstick clicks can now be mapped to the back buttons via the 1.04 version update.
Wow an hour and 30 min video didnt even feel like it nice overview AK. I probably not gonna buy it tho which makes me feel dumb watching this long 😂
Once you said u was cowboy fan I subscribed …. How about that win we just had against them pigeons i mean eagles 💯😂
Man i absolutly LOVE the win. I'm glad that DAK is getting the recognition that he deserves since hes basically improved every year since hes been in the leauge. Really he was the best player on the field the last time we played philly their defense just played better than ours did in that game. I think we have a real shot this year and tbh i want to see my team in a NFC championship game bro. I've been a fan since i was about 8 years old and i've only seen us win a handful of playoff games too. I love how now that Mike McCarthy and DAK are gelling with the play calling and pre snap adjustments too. You can tell early on in the season they were trying to figure out this new system. Now its time to take down some buffalos 😂
MAD AS HECK! Just picked one up. paired with Xbox right away and seems to work. Put on charger said 72% charged and charging. It turned off and now won't turn on. AND middle of day and Turttle Beach says offices closed
AH that sucks bro. I would try to leave it on the charger for a few hours and then hold down the power button for maybe 1-2 minutes to see if you can "force" it to turn on. Were you able to update the firmware before that happened ?
Yea triesd but no go. Had Xbox headset wig out and wouldn't turn off or hard reset. Let it sit for days completely dying then charging and it fixed. This different :(
@@johnmix5045 Damn that’s sucks bro. Sorry to hear that
the one huge L that i noticed, is it looks like you cant map the L3 or R3 button presses, i usually prefer to turn off clicking in the sticks and map them to the back buttons
Maybe a firmware update
@@j3tl3 maybe, but the razer controller doesn't let you do it either
That is true you cannot map the bumpers, the stick clicks and you cant map the start or select button either
Are you able to map them using the accessory app on the console itself? If not imma have to cancel.
I'm the same and normally have both stick clicks mapped and A and B 😂
Deal breaker for me.
Can you remap the analog stick clicking to the back buttons? Thank you very much for the through video of the controller. I got mine coming Friday.
No you cannot. You cannot map the bumpers, the stick clicks and you cant map the start or select button either
How is the grip of the controller? Is it rubbery or is it plastic feel?
And then lastly does the grip feel better than the elite 2 or not?
The grip feels closet to the standard series x controller but better. Its not better than the grip on the elite 2 though. I still think the elite 2 has some advantages over the stealth ultra and grip is one of those advantages.
32:21 I felt that "duh" in my soul. Great review, thanks so much!
Well for me they can remove RGB, the screen and put adjustable analogs, replaceable D-pad, haptic vibrations...
I agree. Not going to lie the screen is cool since you can adjust everything right on the fly so I don't mind that at all. Now having adjustable analogs will be missed from my elite 2 however I don't know if they were just lazy or if it's a limitation of the hall effect sticks. definitely need a replaceable D pad especially with the pad that they chose to put on the controller.
@@passthesmoke Actually i found on aliexpress new Halls analogs for Elite series 2 and they cost like 3$ each. I think i will order it and replace mine again ;) I dont get stick drift yet and playing alot on Xbox, but the original alps analogs got already so "loose" so i will have to replace them anyway.
@@BezJajj Oh that’s sweet. Let me know how that turns out. I have a couple of elite 2 controllers that I would love to modify
@@passthesmoke For sure i let u know how it works. Its not that hard if u have atleast a bit soldering experience ;)

HEADS UP FOR ANYBODY INTERESTED IN BUYING - This does not connect to the Stealth Pro headset for volume control and chat mix. So anybody hoping to fix that terrible manual input on the Stealth Pro with this controller, you will be sadly disappointed.
Is that headset 3.5mm ? It only works with headsets that would be plugged into the controller itself.
@@passthesmoke The Stealth Pro is their top of the line wireless headset. I’m just really surprised that their top of the line headset and controllers aren’t companions.
@@JTFranks why would a wireless headset work with a wireless controller though ? Doesn’t really make sense to me. If they both communicate with a console/pc they won’t be able to seamlessly communicate with each other. That technology doesn’t exist yet.
@@passthesmoke one interface for convenience. Also the manual input on the stealth pro is terrible. Good headphones bad manual input.
How have you got it so early don't come out till the 15th I've pre ordered it
TBH i have no idea.
Was really interested how the paddles would compare to the elite. I use 4 paddles and don’t know if I’m ready for the learning curve 😅
TBH i couldn't use all 4 paddles on the elite 2 since they were so close together. I'd suspect that if you can use four on the elite 2 these will work for you just fine. I actually like the placement of these better since i can just use one finger to control both buttons, Yes buttons they are big square buttons and i love them over the paddles since they are so soft and easily triggered. They don't hurt my fingers after a 5-6 hr session either like the paddles used to.
I like your feedback I'm definitely gonna buy one just because I really like the turtle beach recon expect that they had no trigger stops but the stealth pro has mechanical buttons and bumpers is good enough for me 😂💯 it can be a backup for me elite 2 or main
Yes trigger locks help in halo also you have to set the travel distance in the elite series 2 app before playing
With the elite 2 i couldn't use the trigger locks since they were so hard it would hurt my fingers after hours of gaming. Also in halo it would only help you on the first shot since when i shoot i use the bottom 25% of the trigger not the top.
Excellent job!! I have been looking everywhere for a review, so thank you for doing this-great hands-on! 2 quick follow up questions. 1) how's the grip around the controller feel In comparison to the elite 2? And 2) can you put kontrol freek thumbstick caps on this?
1. the grip feels similar to a series x controller than anything close to the grips on the elite 2- I would still say the elite 2 grips are better since they are softer to the touch but i'd probably be nitpicking though.
2. I don't think control freaks will work unless specific to this controller because the thumbsticks are smaller than regular thumbsticks on the elite 2 or a regular xbox controller.
Thanks for this. You got a sub from me. This is the first review I saw on CZcams. 🤌🙌🙌🙌
@@StoneKingx NP bro thanks for stopping by.
You a legend for getting this up as literally no one else had one up and anyone who got it early just kept recreating the tiktok style unboxing videos. As a gamer I salute you brother 🫡.
I got this bad B on preorder too so just waiting on that. Thanks for the opportunity to have a look before it arrives. You got a sick setup too and I also been a Halo player since 3 years old (24 now). The only thing that took me by surprise was how you move and aim with both sticks at the same time 😂.
Also I like your Andrew Tate style (realist) videos so you got yourself a new subscriber 🙏🏼
Aww man that’s dope add me on Xbox live we definitely have to play halo bro. My son also plays he’s 18 now 😂. Yeah the legacy controls ALWAYS throws people off but really it shows my age 37. My first shooter was golden eye and that was on the n64. They only had one analog and since back then it was all 2D games the movement wasn’t advanced. In 01’ I was 14 when I got Halo CE I played around with the controls and legacy felt the most natural to me (at the time). What’s crazy is I can play on default controls but only in 3-rd person shooters (which I don’t like much as I’m a FPS kid) 😂. About my content I started my channel before I even knew who Tate was 😂 however I know that style is tough for some but it’s NECESSARY for all men.

😂 The life of being a gamer right 🤦🏿♂️
Hey bro so how do u still feel? Is it better than the elite controller? And is everything feeling good and low latency. I also might want a pc next year in july. Im looking to spend under 1900
I’d say better is subjective however after bring on the elite 2 controller for 5 years that this controller is on par with the elite 2. Both have a few advantages over the other but the Hall effect thumbsticks and the controller weight , screen as well as the back buttons are ALL better on this controller. The elite 2 has adjustable thumbstick tension as well as interchangeable thumbsticks. You’d have to decide on which make more sense for you but for me since I’m a FPS gamer I need fluidity and this controller provides that. So as of now I’ve put my elite 2 back in the case for good. Also you can build a great pc for $1200-$1500. When you’re ready reach out I gotchu bro.
@@passthesmoke thank you. I'll message you in July 2024, I want to be able run starfield at 60 fps,
@@loitersquadX Gotcha. The money you spend will be most dependent on the resolution you want to play at also the screen size. Figure those out first before the pc.
@@passthesmoke okay so let's just say I wanna play 4k at 60 fps . And when I lower it to 1440 I can run it at 120 fps . I'm smart with Pc but I own Xbox and that's sort of all I wanna run anything at
@@loitersquadX Definitely doable at your budget bro.
If mine comes with drift it’s going straight back, I wonder if you need to recalibrate the sticks

I’m going to use this exclusively for my pc, my Xbox is connected to the same monitor, do you think there will be an issue connecting to my pc and not my Xbox automatically?
Nope you wont have any issues at all since you HAVE to use the adapter for it to wirelessly connect anyway.
@@passthesmoke thanks man. I’ve had it for a few hrs now so far I really like it it’s really premium feeling for being as light as it is.
my question to you as an elite 2 user would you give up your elite series 2 if you had to for this controller great vid btw bro
Thanks for the compliment i appreciate it bro. So to answer your question , first let me say that i don't have to give up my elite 2 for this controller however i am switching since eventually my elite 2 WILL break and that's a definite WHEN not if 😂. I've had the elite 2 since it was released in 2019 ( i preordered that as well since i still have my elite 1 controller) Since then i've had about 8 of those because something broke on it. Usually it was the RB or Lb or the drift got so bad i don't like to compromise my gaming with high deadzones. Now if i had to choose between the two i'd say ask yourself what's most important to you. I personally if i had to do it again (and i will probably have to since my 18yr old wants one 😂) I would order it from BestBuy and pay for an extended warranty for 3-5 years. If you absolutely NEED some elite two features that this controller doesn't offer you may not be able to switch. Elite 2 has adjustable thumbsticks, adjustable thumbstick tension, also you can map the start, back, lb,rb and the stick clicks on the elite 2 on this controller you can't. However on the flipside you can adjust your setting on the fly because the stealth ultra has a screen as well as the audio features and 10 programmable profiles when the elite 2 only has 3 profiles. So i'd say if you can live without the elite 2 specific features it would definitely be a great controller for you.
How do you set up where you can get messages through the controller
Its fairly easy. You download the turtle beach command center 2 app on your phone and pair it like any other bluetooth device. I don't like it though as it sends ALL your phone notifications to the controller and i wouldn't want the distraction while gaming.
@passthesmoke is that the name if the app ? I can't find it lol

@@passthesmoke yea I sold my dualsense edge on marketplace and gonna use the money to get this one the edge was a let down for me love my elite but I’ve been through three of em
@@shamballa-yt2439 Gotcha. Makes sense man. I love my elite 2 as well but I usually go through two a year due to something not working properly. For me usually it’s the lb or rb. While I love the controller it costs too much for the quality control issues it has.
i saw you could assign pro aim to a button, what is pro aim?
TBH im not sure, i assumed it was maybe a way to slow down the movement of the thumbsticks for better control but when i used it in game i didn't "feel" any difference. I'd say that's probably very subjective though.
Halo infinite is prone to drift for some reason, had to raise deadzone on all of my controllers. Especially on left stick.
Yeah Halo infinite is prone to ALOT of things 😂. Some good and other not so good. I mean the default dead zones in infinite are super high like 10-12-10 which is absolutely crazy.
@passthesmoke hahaha yea but still an awesome game. I have hit onyx every season since release and honestly every time I play it again it feels nostalgic. There's just something about halo that hits different lol
@@uEK97coupe All facts bro. And every season it’s been improving drastically. It’s slowly getting to my top halo ranked games. My favorite was halo 5 tho.
@passthesmoke Yea they are definitely making substantial improvements. Unfortunately it's a case of 2 little 2 late. But I do agree it's up there for one of the best halos, nothing beats halo 2 for me personally.
@@uEK97coupe gotcha. I loved halo 2 as well. TBH I’ve loved ALL the halos. Now I am and have always been an online ranked not a campaign player but I loved what every halo had to offer one way or another. Are u able to use it? Because I just saw another CZcams video saying the software will not be release until Friday???
Within the video i updated the firmware to the base station and the controller. I can confirm that everything works 100%
How did you get before Friday?.
This or an Evil Gaming controller?🤔
TBH i don't really consider any controller "custom" when it uses a base xbox controller and they just modify it. I would say check the features of both and see which one fits your playstyle better and make your choice from there.
Are the audio features like the superhuman hearing worth plugging in my wireless headphones?
TBH havent used it on this controller however i've used superhuman hearing in the past and what id say is its pretty game specific so your milage may vary. I didn't like it since it cut out a LOT of the frequency range id rather use dolby atmos or dtx because at least you can tune those to the game, your ears and your headphones.
Thanks bruh. One more thing. How does the socials work? Do I have to have the apps on the box or does it link to my phone or something?
@@averyD98 So the socials link to your phone. I know you can get all your phone notifications and discord notifications on the screen. For me the phone notifications are too distracting while I’m gaming since I like having my phone right by my pc anyway. I don’t use discord but I could see how that might be helpful to someone who does.
Need to test in fighting games....cause this review is incomplete.
The only fighting game that i have is mortal kombat 1 and TBH i don't play it at all. @@passthesmoke Thank you for your reply. Very important to me how it feel in fighting games like Guilty Gear and SF6, cause they have a complicated d-pad inputs, and a lot of d-pad's (from another companies) is a junk in this way.
@@Psychotoxic86 TBH I don’t think I’m qualified to give you an opinion on how it plays in fighting games since I don’t have enough playtime with them to have a baseline knowledge of how the games work anyway. @passthesmoke I've looked more than once and can't find it you must have got lucky and got it before the release date
@@iTzmastamind Maybe so I’m not sure. On pc I just downloaded it from the Microsoft store and on iOS App Store it’s Control Center 2
@passthesmoke guess I just gotta wait. Have you had an issues with the right stick feeling kinda slow when ads? Any fix to it?
@@iTzmastamind nope. Not at all but then again on halo you can adjust the ads speed and I have mine set to feel the same as when I’m not scoped in. I literally only use ads to be able to see not as a stabilizer.
What do you do for work?
I own/operate a HVAC company that i started about 5 years ago bro.
@@passthesmoke bruhh where? I wouldn't mind learning
@@ItzWolfComp I’m in Atlanta GA bro.
@@passthesmoke ay maybe one day lol you play Warzone?
@@ItzWolfComp Nah I’m not a big cod guy I literally only play halo for fps 😂
You figure out the clock speed what ms on pc?
By clock speed im assuming you mean the polling rate ?
@@passthesmoke yes
What’s the polling rate
Sorry bro i've never checked the polling rate on a controller before. If you give me a way to do it i will do it for you and let you know. Sorry
Does this control have the rubber feel to it like the elite
No it doesn't it feels similar to a stock series x controller. While not as "grippy" as the elite 2 its comfortable and cold to the touch like some type of aluminum was used on the shell.
@@passthesmoke hope it’s not slippery I like the rubber feel the elite has
@@IB1GMANI It’s not slippery but if you have sweaty hands idk your mileage may vary.
@@passthesmoke I really like the way the elite feels I don’t like how the control feels that comes with the Xbox. That why I brought the elite and I’m looking to maybe buy this one to
@@IB1GMANI Gotaha. If you like the way the elite feels (i do as well) then this may not be the controller for you.
looks cool ? yes, is it woth it ? hell no $279.99 for a controller ? those prices are off the roof it cost the same as a switch lol
Funny thing is it it didn't cost that 😂. Its only $199 bro you might want to get glasses
@@passthesmoke got to the offcial website of the controller....
ah i see if u buy from america store is 279 if u buy from EU is 200 euros
@@soulofcinder3694 So you aren’t in the US. Gotcha. Yeah here it’s only $199 bro.
1:10:40 BROOOO
Yeah if i had to guess i will callibrate the sticks however when i was in the turtle beach app there wasn't any stick drift at all. Now when i used my elite 2 in the app you could CLEARLY see the drift. I think its jus the game more than the controller.
