- Somehow i recieved the Astro A50x early. Im just and average gamer and when i preordered this headset there weren't many reviews at the time so since i purchased this controller with my own money im not under any embargo so even though i don't do reviews i decided to do a review and deepdive so other games could ask the questions that i wanted to know before paying $380 for it 😂. Hi, and thank you very much for detailed review of headset.
have you tried to use this headset with 2 PC? I'm very interested to use that for my gaming PC in free time and for office laptop when I'm working and connecting to co-workers on zoom. of course not simultaneosly 😂 but if switching between PCs is possible than this is perfect setup
I haven't but i will try it now with my pc and laptop. Ok so after testing i can confirm that this DOES work. So to use it with a laptop you will need either an hdmi output port on the laptop or an equivalent usb-hdmi adapter. You connect the hdmi cables and thats it. I can also confirm that you don't need the extra usb-c cable either. So the connection would like this. 1. Connect the red port to your main pc as normal (duh) 2. Connect your hdmi port from your laptop to either the hdmi adapter or your computers hdmi port. Thats it, and you use that hdmi output as your sound. Side note, if your laptop has an hdmi output you will need to go into display setting and set it to mirror the displays or you could actually use the main hdmi output on the base station to feed to a monitor ( if you're using one.) anymore questions just ask bro. Glad i could help. Another side note . You CANNOT get simultaneous audio from the two pcs. Now if you wanted to you could get deeper and use a bunch of different audio solutions to route the audio back to the main pc you could but tbh i don't think its worth that hassle and you'd probably get a bunch of ground loop feedback as well.

Great review! I pre-ordered this one and I'm waiting for mine to be delivered to me. The only thing I would say is that the Astro A50x is using graphene drivers, which is new tech. (many people compare the sound quality to planar magnetic). One thing that you are going to love is the Simultaneous Bluetooth, which means you can play games on console and have your phone audio connected both at once. It is a game changer.
Dude the graphene drivers are absolutely AMAZING. I have ALL type of high end headphones from studio to gaming and these have the most body and soul out of ANY headphone that i have ever used. They are crisp, punchy and full of life. You WILL love them for gaming as well as for general listening and music. I've had Bluetooth connectivity before with the turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2's before and i do love the feature a ton. Now I've been using my phone being connected to my rode caster pro 2 for the same type of experience however with these having them i will be truly wireless at my pc and still get all the features and functions i want. I definitely don't regret my purchase.

For a wireless headset, that mic really is very good. A noticeable improvement on the last gen.
100% agreed. When i first heard a mic test i can say i was thouroughly impressed.

Yes the voice/game chat buttons on the headset do work on ps5

Dolby Atmos is the future of surround sound bro you HAVE to use it. The license comes free with the a50x's so the only thing you need to do is download Dolby Access on whatever system you are on.
Does the headset volume wheel control the windows volume ?
No it controls the overall volume of the headset (which is pretty much the same thing)
Hello! Can you connect multiple pc to this headset and switch between them???
Yes you can actually. If you check out my pinned comment at the top i explain whats necessary for that to work. TLDR tho you simpily use audio over hdmi for the second pc.
So new information. I have a rodecaster pro 2 that im used to using do ALL of my audio. The issue is that when you connect the headphones you can hear all audio but you lose the ability to control the individual audio outputs with a physical fader. Now i know to most this won't matter but it does to me , so what i've figured out is how to route the audio back through my mixer so i can now control my system audio, chat audio, game audio and sound effects from the physical mixer while using the a50x's Now the only con ( come on guys theres ALWAYS a con) is that i lose the ability to use the a50x microphone but i'd rather keep using my studio mic for chat (as i have been) and still gain full use of the headphone sound quality AND still be able to control ALL my individual sounds physically not digitally.
How are these compared to the a40s with mix amp
I owned the a40's with the mix amp and the a50 gen 4's are better than those these a50x's are in a ENTIRELY different class. The sound quality , adjustability, comfort and features are second to none.
They should have made a version where it’s only one Console/PC only. I rarely play my other console.
Makes sense however they aready made a version like that which is the a50 gen 4's . They wanted to change the market with this one and be a "platform headphone" which it is now since it works all across the spectrum.
NGL guys I am ASTONISHED by the sound quality of these headphones. In my opinion these are the absolute BEST sounding gaming headphones i've ever heard. These new drivers are OUTSTANDING! I know that sound is subjective however these headphones have SOOO much body, life and soul. I ended up listening to music for two hours. Make sure you set up dolby atmos and eq in logitech g hub and just WOW. Now as far as gaming goes i've 100% switched from my 384khz sound blaster sound card to these. The volume is LOUD as well. The positional accuracy is phenomenal as well (also with dolby atmos setup). This headset has FAR exceeded my expectations. Any questions please comment below and i will answer ALL questions. What kind of settings do you use with Dolby atmos? Do you just run flat then eq in the Logitech app or what? Also could you send me over your eq settings?
@@AzrealJ Do i run specific setting in atmos for Halo infinite to hear footsteps however the game setting with performance checked is the way to go for FPS games. In g hub you can use a flat curve/default curve .Not for story games you can use media in the g hub app with game or music setting in the dolby atmos app. That will give you a more immersive experience and more low end as well.

Yes that is what i would recommend. Now if you play another FPS i'd recommend searching for dolby atmos specific settings for that game. You can create a custom profile and switch between them to play specific games or to do specific tasks.
What about the PlayStation does it work well with FPS PlayStation games and voice and chat mix
Next gen consoles doesn’t have optical ports. Does the HDMI provides true 7.1 surround for Xbox Series?
Yes it does. Also hdmi 2.1 can handle more bandwidth than optical too.

Plug them into the optical port on the back of your TV.

Is the low bass better than the A50 GEN 4?
Yes 100%. Now its not a "boomy" but its SO much more punchy and clean. Also once the drivers loosen up more over time they WILL become punchier even more.

Going to buy new headset either a50 gen 4 or a50x I will only b playing on Xbox is the a50x worth the extra or just go with the a50gen4
Depends on what your definition of sound quality is the a50x sound drastically better than the a50 gen 4 however if you only play to always play on xbox and never use the other features i don't think its worth the extra money based on the current pricing of the gen 4's to warrant upgrading. So in your case i'd say go with the gen 4's its still an EXCELLENT headset and the sound can be tuned to your liking.

So the input doesn’t switch from Xbox to pc? Only between Xbox and PS?
It switches between all 3. xbox , pc and ps.
@@passthesmokeI’m talking about the tv input; it seems I can’t switch to “PC” input from the headset. It switches between “Xbox” and “PS” because they are the ones connected straight to the base station. My PC is connected straight to the tv. I’m using a LG C3 btw.
Gotcha. SO you'd need to have the headset connected to your pc through the usb-c cable for it to connect to it. You would need to have ALL of your hdmi connections (except the pc) connected from console to the base station, usb from the red connection on the base station to your power source and the pc, then the hdmi output on the base station going to your pc. That would give you the ability to switch between all 3.
@@passthesmoke Logitech instructions says base station HDMI out goes to tv HDMI input though. Is your base station HDMI out going into your pc?
@@adrianz6326 No the base station hdmi output is a video output source so it would go to your tv or monitor. Mine isn’t connected that way since I’m using it on pc only. My Xbox is in my theater room and when I want to use it in there I will have to physically move the base station.

The weight with the packaging is right at 5 lbs or 2.2 kilos.

Good review. Just to point out. The speakers are not plan magnetic. They are graphite. Which is similar in its approach. I eat less distortion etc
..But a budget version of the plana. Which are much more expensive and much better.
You are correct however i've owned plan magnetic drivers and i like the graphite which sound better in my opinion. More expensive doesn't always mean better.
When are you supposed to release these headsets?
They released yesterday on the 20th however I received them on the 17th.
How many day did it take to ship after ordering them?
I pre-ordered them the day that it went live so tbh im not sure. I do know for sure that tracking did not work. I got them before fedex went live with the tracking number.

Before I order it, i have to know:
Is it possible to have game audio from your console and pc audio at the same time ? Like we had it on the gen4 ? (not Bluetooth)
I don’t need gamechat or party chat on my consoles, because I would use my mic for my pc.
I love watching Twitch, CZcams or Netflix while im gaming. Also the communication via discord and teamspeak is on pc waay easier.
This simultaneous feature was the main reason for me to buy the gen4. I hope this works on the A50x aswell
As of now I don’t think it’s possible per se. The only simultaneous audio that you can have is from one of the outputs (pc, Xbox or ps) and your phone through Bluetooth. It’s possible they could change this in a future update but as of now that’s the only way (that I know of) to achieve this from console.

Makes sense. I haven't played around with the mixline app that much. Im glad its like that and thanks for pointing that out. Hes had the headset for almost two weeks and i've only had it for less than a day 😂
@@passthesmoke I read somewhere that if you take the xbox USB-C line from the base station and connect the USB-A to your PC, you can get audio simultaneously? I read it from a comment from astro, idk how it works or if you have to tinker settings but it would be cool if you could confirm it for us!
@@Fa_moe I can confirm that this does NOT work. It doesn’t show up as another audio source or anything at all. Now if you use an actual Xbox and pc together you can use the mixline app to receive simultaneous audio but that’s the only way to achieve it.
New information guys. You CAN use these with a rodecaster pro 2 however you do lose some key features of the mixer. If anyone has that same setup hit me up and i can tell you how to get it working.
I personally think the wicked cushions are overrated. I got ones that have a silk like fabric that are much more comfy stay cooler and are cheaper than wicked cushions

I hate how there's no aux input for the a50x i really like the aux for music and be able to use my phone and Xbox at the same time

Yes you can do all of those tho ha at the same time and the Bluetooth sound quality is excellent.

But I don’t think the quality will be enough for pc, when you have the possibility to use USB
