Real talk watching this hit deep. It hurts when you can be what you want to be, physically he will never be the same , its like he came to realize he's older and he is not what he used to be. Him pouting on the bench when he had off nights was a bad look.
Dude had torn acl and Achilles in consecutive years, I Don't know any nba player that had been through that but still be able to play after, let alone helping his team win another ring. We also have to remember he barely missed games before those injuries
Kawhi Leonard. People quickly forgot everything he'd accomplished and started trashing him. He had three surgeries on the same leg. Stephen A is the absolute worst when he attacks these players. He said Kawhi should retire and said Klay is washed up and plays like garbage. These men are human just like we are and it's tough to hear people call you trash and garbage.
THAT'S RIGHT KLAY!!!!!! Proud of you bro There's no reason to go BACK to who you were when nobody else is able to emulate that either. you have young STUDS in your squad that could be next up if you shift your focus. Enjoy this chapter for what it is. You can become an ELITE MENTOR and TEAMMATE, forget the other stuff you already did that.
I have the utmost respect for Klay and can relate to his thoughts. Being on top of your game for years, then age gradually creeps in and people say you're not what you once were. That's a hard pill to swallow! By human instinct, we try to prove the critics wrong, but the clock continues to tick. Accepting the truth doesn't mean you're weak or not great, it's simply the decision to age gracefully and enjoying the moments you have. Even Michael Jordan had to face and embrace this change! Salute Klay... you will always be one of the "Splash Brothers!" Nothing can change your legacy!!!
It's not that age crept in. He was at the height of his prime and then he tore his ACL. AND THEN after healing and rehabbing from that, he tore his Achilles in practice. Back to back potential career ending injuries. Having your prime stripped away from you like that would be nothing but the worst feeling ever. It's reasonable for him to want to get back to where he was, because if it wasn't for the injuries, they would have 5 rings right now.
@@jakeiwnl I agree with you, but like Kerr & Klay stated, sometimes trying to prove yourself gets in the way mentally and you can forget who you are! The only alternative to getting old is dying, but will come. However, if we think too hard about both events, we can't enjoy the moments we have. I think that was the point about the negative energy.
Klay gave actually a heartfelt response to the question. I won’t be surprise if he retires after this season or next. I do hope his new mindset is set in stone and he can contribute greatly in a different way instead of his old way
Nah that's crazy, Klay was gunning because he's trying to earn the last big money contract of his career lol. He just put in a 22ppg season mate, no way he retires already barring significant injury.
There’s zero chance in him retiring. Shooters careers last longer than any other type. He is also extremely competitive, and his life is purely basketball. He would probably play overseas before hanging up his cleats. I’d hate to see him in another uniform, but every team could use a tall 40% 3pt shooting wing.
Klay had some great defensive plays last night. Doesn't show up on the stat sheet but those stood out. He was knocking them down too, and definitely more selective. Always has been one of the classier, well spoken players.
Klay finally realizing this is the twilight of his career. And it's completely okay...father time is undefeated. Hopefully him playing looser will equate to less peaks and valleys, and more stability in his production.
I love this guy. Screw all the haters Klay, you and the Chef are my GOATs and the real ones know how great you still are!! We got the team to win a chip this year, we just gotta figure it out. We've beat the best team in the league so we know this team is capable of greatness. Oh and we know damnn well you're top 75 Klay. You're way better than Dame IMO who did not deserve to be ahead of you. We know that you got that chip on your shoulder and want to prove the doubters wrong, but the real ones know how great you are so you don't need to be doing too much to compensate for that. We can see how you're getting the young guys involved and making them better now and that's what hall of famers like you do.
I dreamed of 1 title as a kid cheering for run TMC, knowing our teams just weren't good enough. I still cannot believe we won 4 freaking titles in 7 years...thank you to Klay and Steph for creating a culture that new warrior fans expect, but the OG's know the real pain of being a dubs fan in the 90s and 2000s so our respect for these guys is off the charts. I still pinch myself that we have 4 rings during the Lebron area...
I also pinched my eyes when your team landed KD in his prime after being in the finals, my man... I definitely did. Nonetheless you definitely had the most entertaining team to watch in NBA history. The ball movement was over the charts
Love the message how Kerr talk to him it not about stats it about mentor his young teammates and play unselfish, have to be thankful for all the early success moments in his career way to stay positive Klay
This is why I'll always be rooting for Klay. Aside from just being able to have conversations like this, being introspective, thoughtful, and philosophical, he'll also share with the press and public in ways you don't commonly see from professional athletes. In fact, I can't really think of _any_ athlete who talks like this, and this isn't the only time Klay has really let people into his head.
This is great. When they won the championship a few years ago, I remember Klay's effusive gratitude. He was playing again after two tough years off and loved it. Every interview he was so thankful to be playing. It made me grateful for what I had. I'm sure it affected his teammates, too. Can't underestimate the power of gratitude!
Steve Kerr is the coach Phenom! That's exactly how he played when he won is last ring with the Spurs. Words of wisdom! Control what you can with good energy and a great attitude! No matter what is going on with the other Phenom Steph Curry he never looses his cool during games. Same personality every day play with self control and 💯💯💯self confidence. Even when the fans are bashing him on is off days. He plays with fun and good energy. 💯💯💯💯Love Phenom Steph! Respectfully!❤❤❤❤
As a Warrior fan, besides Curry, Klay is always my favorite shooter, you cannot forget how he has been helped Warrior get four champions. Although he may never go back to top level like he is used to do, he is still a legend🙏Show my all respect to him
Klay played great last night. This is what we need, not chucking shots, cutting and finding teammates from the post, Bro was locked in we need this Klay from now on
Klay honestly doesn’t get the respect he deserves. The grit and determination to come back from a serious injury to win a championship is second to none. It’s sad to see him drop off and he’s never been the same after the 2019 finals.
Father time is undefeated! You had a great career klay nothing to be ashamed of you've grown threw the years and left everything you had on the court and at the end of the day you are a 4x time champ crazy amount t of all stars games and most points every in a single quarter Hall of famer!!!!
Luv it👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻This is how the best guy talks and expressed what is the best thing to do to the successor of their throne. Leader by example not with stats. He accomplished a very stats before and his guidance to the young breed of talents is a big help to the warrior👍👍👍
Kerr is such a great mentor on and off the court, being able to bring out the best version of high calibre players in different stages of their career is no easy feat.
Klay all day, he is our guy. Splash bros for life. I knew this when i saw him limp out to the court for the free throws in the finals after blowing out his ACL.
Klay 4 NBA Titles Father 2 NBA Titles ( Lakers ) This family is close to basketball royalty.! Klay your one of the greatest pure shooters alltime ! Great 2 way player. Be proud of who you are man ; on /off the court ! Enjoy every moment . Klay & fellow splash Brother Steph ; will have statues outside Chase ! Thank you for playing the game the right way ! Bravo 🏀🙋♂️🎷🏖🙏
And think Kobe went through it several times and recovered from injury with the weight of the world and still handled it better than anyone I’ve seen !
Love the Splash Brothers. Klay is quite the human being. Genuine and real and hardworking. He and Steph are symbolic of why I switched to Golden State from the Celtics after Curry arrived. Watched him during his first year like I have with Patrick Mahomes. Klay just needs to get over a mental block that is inhibiting his game - he is physically back and he will be primed to tear up the second half of the season.
Basketball is an evolutionary game. Your game has to keep changing with time. I think Warriors changed the game of basketball, particularly with their 3-point games. But now other players have caught up. Now is the time for them to put aside the pressure of another championship and start rebuilding.
Those injuries were cruel. They hit him right at that age where when he finally got back he was just getting a bit too old to show everyone he could get back to his best, and in his eyes I've no doubt he was thinking of his 60 pts, 37 qtr, 14 threes best! If they hit when he was a bit youger it may have been easier mentally to return.
Klay has nothing else to prove, its just that media gets into his mind and you know it bothers him. Multiple NBA records, 4 rings way way better than those "bench warmers turned tv nba experts" that talks as if Klay is a bum.

Bravo Kerr, to be a great coach aside from the wins to the next level must be able to have conversations no matter how tough. Now go find Green and do the same.
I guess Klay should learn from Love.. Look at Love now, he is doing so good in the Heat. Been to the Finals last year because he embraced his role as a veteran leader and even a cheerleader to his teammates. Klay can take back his rhythm once he does not force anything.
In the past there were other vets to steer the ship. Klay IS that vet now and when he looks so demoralized on the bench I’m sure that energy is felt by everybody on the bench. I love Klay. Part of what makes him so lovable is that same passion. We all know Klay has regressed from his prime but when he’s hitting shots, we can beat anybody.
Lets go He really changed his mindset, he'll have his big nights too. He just can't expect himself to be that guy younger before the injury producing on steady nights. Kerr is right, if he changes his mindset, Green comes back right, this team can still fly. Get the negative out. Kerr needs to take some of that Phil knowledge and share it.
I think we can forget that basket ball players at the end of their careers are still in the grand scheme of things young people…with a lot of room for growth and opportunity outside of basketball…it must be weird having to contend with the ending of a thing that is so close to who you are and still be very much in your youth and growing as a person.
Often times in the era of modern medicine, fans and even players themselves forgets that most players retires around 35 provided that they had not suffered any catastrophic injuries. While there has been anomalies in more players playing close to 20 years or age 40, they remains few and far between.
Just focus on you Klay. The League costs this man money by not putting him on an all NBA team a few years ago. Klay still hasn't gotten over it. He hears all the negative comments, about how washed he is. Gotta block out all the noise and just focus. Forget all the all star stuff, forget about the hate, just play ball, and have fun again.
Klay has never cared about anything but how many points he scored. I'm hoping he'll realize there's so much more to basketball than that. The fact that Steve had to tell him, says so much about his ability to be introspective.
So. He pretty much told him. Your not young or getting younger. You cant play like your trying to prove yourself. That season of life is over. You are a veteran now with many accomplishments. Youll never be that guy and its okay. Youve done way more than most. We need you to contribute where you can and show the next guys up the right way..........
With his injury history.... shoot, if he chills out and sees reality he'll be fine...great run BUT it's the final lap and the tank is more empty than full.
I have to be honest...Klay is the Loin of the game of sport...the offense is not made for him its made for Steph who he praises every chance he gets...just think if Klay didnt go to the Warriors I think Klay still would be Klay probably a couple of MVPS and more...do you think Steph would be Steph without Klay...I just think its unfair to put him down right now...he dont get the spacing he needs...he play with guys that dont understand...he can shoot the when he wants to or he taking bad shot all of a sudden...that whole team taking bad shot including Steph...go back with the starting 5 and let Kumminga play thourgh his mistakes until Dre comes back...and CP3 his defense suck over working everyone else...slows the game down in fast break opportunities klay and Wiggins cant get going period bad combination
Klay stop listening to kerr, he criticizing you all the time, i know you are frustrated. He does not dare say anything to allworld curry when he makes mistakes and he is making a ton of them. Just igored kerr and keep shooting once a shooter always a shooter.klay the problem is there are to many players on your team that thinks they are 3 pt. Kings I know you are the best 3 pt shooter on the warriors
Man this almost brought a tear to my eye. That’s exactly what Klay needed to hear and I’m glad he took it the way he did
❤❤❤❤Yeah all the best for him
exactly
Warrior groupie

22 points per game. 22 points more than this whole comment section. Keep going 💪
He is a HOF'er. I hope he gets his joy back even as a contributor from the bench.
When a quality veteran makes this transition, the team’s future looks bright.

Holy shit warriors are immediately a top tier threat again.... the focus and understanding
Kerr giving that “they’re trading yo ass next year have fun in that warriors jersey”
Bravo Kerr, to be a great coach aside from the wins to the next level must be able to have conversations no matter how tough. Now go find Green and do the same.

and Love is a very efficient scorer now even with limites minutes and he's impacting winning. You should accept changes Klay and learn from it.
I mess with Klay
In the past there were other vets to steer the ship. Klay IS that vet now and when he looks so demoralized on the bench I’m sure that energy is felt by everybody on the bench. I love Klay. Part of what makes him so lovable is that same passion. We all know Klay has regressed from his prime but when he’s hitting shots, we can beat anybody.
Everybody loves this man. Gumby!
Damn, Kerr really prepping him for that paycut next year.
Basically Kerr said get ready for the downfall and dont expect a big payday as your contract negotiations begin next year.
Lets go
He really changed his mindset, he'll have his big nights too. He just can't expect himself to be that guy younger before the injury producing on steady nights.
Kerr is right, if he changes his mindset, Green comes back right, this team can still fly. Get the negative out. Kerr needs to take some of that Phil knowledge and share it.

He is now in the Gilbert arenas stage now sad day fir klay. you didnt get old you got hurt and your body said it cant keep up no more
Often times in the era of modern medicine, fans and even players themselves forgets that most players retires around 35 provided that they had not suffered any catastrophic injuries. While there has been anomalies in more players playing close to 20 years or age 40, they remains few and far between.
Lets go Captain Sea Lets Go!!!
Klay the Destroyer will be back once last time.
Just focus on you Klay. The League costs this man money by not putting him on an all NBA team a few years ago. Klay still hasn't gotten over it. Paper plane Klay. God bless
Way to go Klay. Penetrating wisdom!
Final chapter? Bae where you going?
Kerr should've been telling Draymond that!
Klay has never cared about anything but how many points he scored. I'm hoping he'll realize there's so much more to basketball than that. The fact that Steve had to tell him, says so much about his ability to be introspective.
He wants to prove those idiots who came up with the top 75 list wrong, which I don't blame him for that. They got it wrong
So. He pretty much told him. Your not young or getting younger. You cant play like your trying to prove yourself. That season of life is over. You are a veteran now with many accomplishments. Youll never be that guy and its okay. Youve done way more than most. We need you to contribute where you can and show the next guys up the right way..........
Hope Draymond Green would change and be like Klay accepting the end of their Dynasty but…One more Championship will be more Satisfying!
With his injury history.... shoot, if he chills out and sees reality he'll be fine...great run BUT it's the final lap and the tank is more empty than full.
They definitely regret keeping him
It was always Klay before the injuries go rewatch the film it was always Klay then Steph facts
Sounds like the end to me
I have to be honest...Klay is the Loin of the game of sport...the offense is not made for him its made for Steph who he praises every chance he gets...just think if Klay didnt go to the Warriors I think Klay still would be Klay probably a couple of MVPS and more...do you think Steph would be Steph without Klay...I just think its unfair to put him down right now...he dont get the spacing he needs...he play with guys that dont understand...he can shoot the when he wants to or he taking bad shot all of a sudden...that whole team taking bad shot including Steph...go back with the starting 5 and let Kumminga play thourgh his mistakes until Dre comes back...and CP3 his defense suck over working everyone else...slows the game down in fast break opportunities klay and Wiggins cant get going period bad combination
Kerr should be a preacher instead of a NBA coach fr
Klay stop listening to kerr, he criticizing you all the time, i know you are frustrated. He does not dare say anything to allworld curry when he makes mistakes and he is making a ton of them. Just igored kerr and keep shooting once a shooter always a shooter.klay the problem is there are to many players on your team that thinks they are 3 pt. Kings I know you are the best 3 pt shooter on the warriors
I feel like he is hating saying this.
well no shit no player likes admitting they're washed
