- In this video I boondock right on the edge of a mesa at The Wedge overlooking Utah's "Little Grand Canyon" located in the San Rafael Swell Recreation Area. My views are stunning at camp. I cook some good food after arriving at camp then on day 2 I explore the canyon of "The Swell" in search of ancient Petroglyphs and Pictographs. This is a place I've wanted to visit for some time and it did not disappoint!

Awesome video! Have you been to Three Rivers Petroglyph site north of Alamogordo,NM? There's a little campground about four miles past it on the dirt road where an elk herd roams free. The campground is a true oasis in the desert. The petroglyphs there are extensive. It's a beautiful place and I highly recommend it if you ever get out that way. Thanks for yet another great and informative video. YOU ROCK!!!

It's me Nicole. Beautiful all the way, it really does look like the Grand Canyon in a smaller version and the lighting was perfect at camp. The rock art was amazing as well and I can believe that you wanted to spend a night down there, it was amazing!

What a magnificent area! I love your lifestyle and I wish I were there to explore the trail leading up to the petroglyphs and rock art especially now in the spring. I just love all that area, the big rock formations, how is illuminated during different times of the day, the vegetation, the canyon ... all of it. As to the hoodie, that looks great, light and functional. Great looking tacos and breakfast was awesome! Thank you for your post, looking forward to the next one.

I-70, west of Green River, ut has a rest area on Both east& westbound travelers. the little you see from just driving thru here, its amazing!

Little Grand Canyon is spectacular! You certainly captured its majestic scenery with pops of color in the rocks and sky at the golden hour. I love petroglyphs and have incorporated them into my artwork over the years. Those tacos looked tasty too. Happy travels! Jenny
That's an awesome spot. Many of your past travels have been to places where I've been, but now you are at a spot where I want to go and you beat me there.

WOW! How blessed is your life! I'm so glad you share on CZcams. I would be too scared to be by myself out there.
Don't be scared! Don't ever be scared to explore God's creation! Just be prepared. Learn how to be safe. Watch vids and read. If you're going to give off-roading a try, have a capable vehicle and be familiar with it's limitations. Likewise, be aware of your limitations. But, don't be afraid to push the boundaries frim time to time. And, except for the time with my grandparents on what is now my farm in South Carolina, I've 'been a city kid most of my life.. I hadn't been off-roading. Until the first time I did it. I never drove further west than Dayton, Ohio. Until the first time I did it. I always carry communications. (I'm a licensed ham.) I carry water. I carry food. And, I carry a couple of unread books in case I get struck. Why? Think of how boring getting stuck would be if you didn't have anything to read while waiting for help. Catherine isn't the only one exploring the wilderness on their own. And, even if you can't get out to the west, you might be surprised at the wilderness in your own backyard. Have I ever been scared? Concerned, yes. Scared? Not really.. But, there have been times when serious prayer has been comforting! There's only been one time where I've come close to being scared. And, that was from a human I encountered in the hotel where I was overnighting. Explore your world!

It's quite safe out there in the middle of God's Country. I carry a Honda CRF250L dual-sport on a rack on the of my truck as my "Plan B" in case my truck decides to break down in an inconvenient location....which has never happened in 6 years of nomadic living. It's also a hoot for exploring random dirt tracks and scouting questionable roads before taking my big ol' Bigfoot dually rig down them. You can also convoy with friends.
@@docholiday7758 That's another thing that too often goes unmentioned. The friends you make exploring these places. Depending on where Sandy is, there might be a 4WD or similar club with kindred spirits nearby.

Rock art is so intriguing, how are we ever to know what those artists were trying to say?. My favorite site in Utah is Horsehoe Canyon....a small piece of Canyonlands NP. You have to walk a ways into the canyon, downhill, along a sandy creek bottom trail before coming to a stunning mural like display of life sized pictographs along both sides of the red walled cliffs. Walking back is harder, of course, uphill on the sun exposed slope of slick rock . Worth every breathless step. The geology of the Swell is fascinating and well worth reading a bit about why this area looks as it does. Thank you for another glimpse of our great western landscape. Safe travels.

The swell is my favorite winter time Fatbiking areas. The trails are great the views are the best.
When your there, go to the Keg Springs wash. Its next to the green river.

@@slamboy66 Sorry, no. Bojangles, which is new to where I reside. Had it lots of times down south, though. As for Church's, that's always a "must stop" on my trips to the Best Coast. There's even one not too far from where I stay near Boss Angeles. They're also in AZ and NM. We used to have Church's on the least coast. But, they pulled out ages ago.
