Part 2 - fishing the 90mile - a very fishy ending to an epic day on the magical 90 (surfcasting fun)

- Putting away the tiki after our morning set, Stevo and I headed along the beach looking for a few different spots to flick a bait or two. Not being quite low tide it was difficult to find some flat deeper water to fish, but we had fun trying. We tried a few spots and caught a few fish, but as that tide rose and pushed us off our low tide banks we decided to stick around and set up for an arvo tiki set.
I found a nice little inside gutter/hole with nice clean water amongst the white water, this would allow us to also flick a few baits while the tiki was on the soak. Little did we know this was going to be a nice productive spot for us to finish off another magical day on the 90.
The 90 never lets us down and you really have to be there to feel that Reel Kiwi Fishing adventure for yourselves, but hopefully this little vid will make you feel like your there having fun with us....

Yep most defiantly be great for a slide bait - never tride it and maybe I should give it a go one day 👍

What is the sweet spot for casting weight on the Kotare and the MC NANO?
I want to use 5 or 6 oz and small baits
Will these rods do what I want?

I surfcast with a 5oz which I personally feel is the perfect weight to use with these 2 rods. You can go up to a 6 but I've never had to.

Hey your soul surf with the overhead reel on , is it made for the overhead specifically? 👍
Hi ht6797 - you can use OH or spin as they run the low rider guides and the great thing is it has the sliding reel seat so your able to set it where you want (more personal feel) and is great having it if you change from spin to OH.

Yep even the 10min soak got us onto a few fish - still well under our limit and was good to let 2-3 go that were kicking hard.

When 4x4 down the beach are u in high or low 4x4 and what gears are you most of the time
I'm only in 4x4 no dif lock - but you could put it into full 4x4 high with lock to be safe - have never used low.
hard to listen to all the bellowing, that aside, nice video.
