Wait that’s it
For the tin snips Midwest vrs swiss which is the better?
My Johnson framing square is not square, out of square slightly.
Bought empire blue and Milwaukee my favorite now is the Milwaukee light weight, large white numbers on red paint makes fast read.
Scribe, black sharpie, magnetic stud finder, I own Franklin and zircon battery operated zircon is nice though a pain need to calibrate each usage, not always accurate, the franklin is better though misses a lot.
I id everything with engraver, I worked in dealership had approx 450 in tools stolen matco snap on and craftsman
Thanks for the video
I'm a journeyman in local 349 Carpenters Union out of Portland. Nice vid man. Hope you stay on board
You almost had me thinking Portland, Oregon had an extra local. Local 146 Oregon/Southwest Washington EIS.
originally made in japan Tajima top notch chalk line & the grabber utility knife for a fast blade change.
4’ level, chisels, small 1st aid kit (Coleman makes one the size of an altoids container. That cellphone pocket y’all use, put it in there and leave the phone in the truck) knee pads (k-p industries knee pro, best out there for the price, very durable and comfortable). Head lamp. Construction master calculator. Klein bucket. And a personal harness, not a roofer in a bucket one.
Damn bro you got it all down. You think there are people like you who helps people like me? Starting the trade soon
Yeah, I’ve given out plenty of basic tools & know a lot of guys that have also.
Depends on what you’re doing will call for what you need. I didn’t buy everything at once that’s for sure. But instead of blowing your first paycheck at the bar like most have, buy a new tool or so.
@@xsiikphyziiksx7205 don’t spend your whole apprenticeship doing one thing either, learn it all.
@@offroadchevy4x496 yeah man I want to learn it all. Framing, stairs, reading blue prints, windows , doors, hurricane clips, roofs, walls, sheathing, dry wall and even painting. I have a year or so of experience but I can’t wait to start my apprenticeship. I used to be a mechanic and I would buy off the tool truck. I love tools. I don’t drink much so that won’t be a problem with me. I’d be hitting a gym before I blew my money on shit that can get you into trouble haha
Love the videos!
The tool list for my union is different but to start everything you have there plus a screw gun, good set of bites, drywall saw. In my union we have a tool list that by your second year most companies expect you have that list in full. Some of the stuff we no longer use so a few things we don't need. Plus if you're like me you buy extra that normally the company supplies but I prefer to get my own. Only difference in what knife is we can use any knife we want. I use a 25 mm olfa a 18mm olfa and a Stanley 99e. Personally don't like a fixed blade some guys use them
I think the Irwin fixed blade protouch utility knife is the best knife for drywall. All the drywall hangers in my area use them.
I would reccomend if you don't know how to read a tape, get an apprentice tape. Also check into a circular saw for framing. Makes getting pieces for your foreman, faster.
What is an apprentice measuring tape?
Timothy Martin basically a tape that’ll show your fractions instead of guessing. It’s used to teach you how to fully read a tape for the first couple weeks then you move to a basic tape
MADREDNECK510 That sounds great! Where can I buy one? I’m getting ready to start my apprenticeship
Timothy Martin Lowe’s has them
Or just be able to count to 16… not that hard 😂
Plum bob and bull nose snips.
If you get into drywall acoustic get a good impact gun, drywall gun and a drywall cut out tool will help you a lot and make your life easier
Hilti baby
@@vojnikjna30 I have used Hilti, DeWalt and Milwaukee and I prefer DeWalt. The Hilti Drywall gun is better but that's all I find better. I use DeWalt across the board and even there drywall gun is not bad.
Man I used to watch you all the time when you hung drywall!
Yeah Brother blaze the path
Side cutter pliers
Floor chisel
Hi, Mr. Nomadic INK
!
I’m a student who’s interested in the construction industry and I need a carpenter to interview for an assignment. May I have some of your time to answer some of these questions:
What about your job do you think is the most rewarding?
What do you think is the most challenging about your job?
What do you think of being in a union vs not being in a union?
Residential vs. commercial vs industrial, which do you prefer to do?
How competitive is getting a job/project?
What kind of problems have you encountered in your job?
How often did you have to learn on the go?
How physically strong do you have to be?
Do you think the pay reflects the amount/difficulty of work as a carpenter?
Have you received instructions you didn’t agree with?
How do you build connections?
How do you think this industry will change over the next few years?
I’m so SORRY for asking so many questions. Thank you so much!
Hey Smiley 👍
What's up with company's not allowing switch blade style of utility knifes they work sometimes better and faster hell always have it on hand
Are left or straight cuts better? Milwaukee makes a straight cut with the cutters offset like those red left cuts
I prefer the left cuts. But it depends o. The purpose of the snips. Steel studs I'd go left cut not straight.
carry reds and greens, i run both they serve purpose, fuck straights
and midwest for the win
were are the new vids at man????????????????your guy come up or over the start his new dry wall union job
It's a clean name?.......or......cleanest name in the biz!?
Plumb bob
if you really need to run a plumb bob just use your chalk box, gravity works the same no need for a plumb bob in ur belt
