    While you were listing all of your debt I kept saying in my head "How could you do that? That's so much in one store!" and then you got to your student loans...... and added everything up at the end..... my student loans will be well over 70K..... who am I to criticize you over a total debt that is less than 1/3rd of my debt?
    Thank you for sharing this and being honest through the video. Even though I'm still in college and I won't need to start paying for a while, I need to do this myself.

    How much of what you paid was principal vs interest? It would be good to see how much is going to interest each month... and to see that number shrink as you pay it off.. that’s the real snowball! $0 interest paid = $0 debt!
    Also, call your lenders and line your due dates up to 2 days. Each a couple days after pay days. Put your lowest amount owed debt after your paycheck you don’t pay rent or mortgage from.. usually that would be the 15th paycheck. That way you can throw as much as possible at your lowest owed debt and pay highest debt minimum payments out of your lowest income check. They will absolutely change your due dates for you! I have my highest debt due dates set to the 5th and my lowest set to the 22nd. I pay my rent on the 1st of the month.
    Keep up the good work!

    You are making strides great job. Banks don't normally charge overlimit fees any more (a couple years ago that was a thing) because of regulations that changed you would need to opt to be charged or something like that so they just dont do it. Always check on your bank website to be sure though. When I was overlimit I realized my minimum payment was not taking care of the amount overlimit so had to use my snowball payment differently that month.

    Id go ahead and switch bank of america and citi card. Considering they're only 60 dollars apart switching them really doesn't change anything. If it was thousands more then it would matter, but the debt snowball is about you getting fired up. If youd be more excited to pay bank of America than that's probably better

    I work at a gym and I totally agree with how pushy they can be. I worked in membership for a few months and it was the worst because I hated forcing memberships on people. It sounds like you're getting a great deal on your gym though! The one I work at is like $50 for a person and you don't get half of the amenities you mentioned.

    I'm currently 22.5K in debt as well. The remainder of mine is student loan debt. Paid off 14k since October. I'm going to try to finish March of next year. Doing uber and Lyft on the side too. Good luck and you're doing great!

      hrcubsgirl I started at $60k 10 years ago, and I’m happy to say I’m down to $19k today, which should be paid off by the end of 2020 using the Debt Snowball/Dave Ramsay Method!
      Stay strong! It takes SO long, along with a lot of sweat and tears, but you will get there!! 💪🏼

    I agree, seeing the smaller numbers being paid off is so motivating. 1 huge debt would seem insurmountable.

    I dont understand the victoria secret one, ive seen it on a few channels, is it a credit card, or what you owe the store like a buy now pay later thing? Is it interest free? (not from america so ive never seen it before)
    most people were im from only have credit debt, afterpay or personal loans (or car loans/mortgage). Student loans are different were im from (only know the basics because i didnt go to univeristy, got a trade instead)

    • @erikalifevlogs
      @erikalifevlogs  Před 4 lety

      They are all credit cards from practically the same lender. We just name it after the store where we accumulated and applied for the credit.

  • @wendyraye1
    @wendyraye1 Před 5 lety +1

    I agree with you on staying away from debt consolidation. I got a personal loan to put all my debt together. It will probably be at least 2 years before I see that debt gone (there is 4 years left on the loan) so I have to do all these little things to show that it is getting somewhere. I wish I just had the multiple Bill's I had before, I know I'd feel like I was getting further along. Lucky you with student loans, mine are 3 times your total debt. But I am seeing the change, and I will be putting more on my personal loan so I should be seeing more results!

    Debt is a foreign concept to me. The only debt I paid was for a $8000 car, which I paid off in 5 years. It's great to see you trying to change your life and budgeting. Good luck
