Looking through your channel and came across this video from last year. Just bought a 2023 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium and do not like the factory alloy rims on it. However, I also am not a huge fan of the black TRD rims that it seems everyone has and is confined to. So looking for an alternative to just black out the factory rims because I like the design of them at least. How well does the plasti dip hold up with like regular tire rotations, wear and tear, etc?
Never thought I could spray paint my wheels without taking them off. You just saved me so much time thanks. It looks great!
Yesssir
How does it look? Want to try it?
@@joelreyes9243 looks great it still looks like the day I painted them. I’ve done some off-roading with them a few times too
@@user-ex5fx5jj7zyou’re tweakin if you think that taking off all 4 rims and plasti dipping all of them is faster than not taking off the rims and plasti dipping if
how does it long? for years or for only months?@@michaelscott8968
Amazing transformation! Huge savings over new rims as well. I like what you did with the center caps also. I bought some TRD center caps, I will put on in the Spring. I've always thought the factory rims look pretty good, but I have seen some aftermarket ones I like better. You're showing a great alternative to swapping them out.
Thanks!
huge difference!! love the outcome looks so good😮💨 i’m gonna try to plasti dip my rims soon!!
Yessssssir thanks
I didn’t know you could do that and it looks so easy and makes a HUGE difference 🤩
Thanks!
Great video, I want to thank you so much! Followed your instructions straight down the line, including the plastic bag trick, and all came out beautiful! We have a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 van that we converted to a camper. It had some pretty old chrome rims and this made them look both new but updated our van a bit. Thanks again. Doug and Heidi
nice glad i could help
Wow. That changes the whole look! Super nice!!!
Thales
Shoutout for showing the product of tire shine you were using. I love knowing exactly what is being used in a video so I can copy what I know works!! Thanks for this video I'll be attempting this soon.
no problem thanks
Looks great! I'm glad you also replaced the trd offroad 4x4 stickers to all black, it looks alot better. 👌
Yesssir
Did mine the same way today, including the red logo. Looks amazing. Thank you for the video
awesome
How long will the dip stay on the rims?
Wow that looks amazing dude!!!!!
Thank you!
Looks so dope 🔥👍🏽
Great video, another tip if you are worried about overspray or getting on your tires, get a deck of cards and line the rim with them
ooo i like that
The one reason i fear of doing that with plasti dip is i dont know if pulling out the cards will pull off the paint. Have you done it before with plasti dip? I just wonder if i am gonna need to use a knife around the edge of my rims just to be sure yk?
Index cards are a bit bigger and cheaper.

You my friend just saved thousands🤙🏽 looks good👍🏽
Thanks 👍
Nice job looks fantastic. Getting ready to do wheels on a 2006 Audi A4 Quattro s-line. Your center caps look great!!! Thx again
Oooo yessssir! Thanks
Wow, that looks amazing!
fantastic job truly
Wow that looks awesome. Good job!! Saves money on rims.
Yesssir thanks
This is real nice. I’m doing this for my car this weekend for sure.
Hell yeah, looks sick!
Thanks
Just wanted to say a year later and your video is still helpful! Just did mine and they look amazing with the metallic silver. Thank you so much!
Great to hear!
Great video! Love the Army Green!
thank you
Looks awesome!!
Thanks buddy
That looks amazing
Thanks buddy
That looks dope I’ll be doing this to my quicksand sport!
yesssir
Great job man.
Thanks buddy
It looks so good!!! 😍
Thanks
Looks nice man 👌, I’m thinking of doing my wheels bronze , how many cans did you use ?
Im going to try it soon!! Thank you!!!
Thanks good luck
I was looking to buy TRD rims until I saw this video. Super easy to do. Mine came out sick bro. Thanks
No problem!
How many coats on each rim? And how long did you take in between each coat on each rim
Looks good. For all the dippers out there. Try and remove the brake cover bag from the rear of the wheel to insure it does not lift the dip by accident.
Thanks
Thank you this video was 🔥 🔥
Glad you liked it!
Great video thanks 🙏🏻
Profecianal, easy, and great mod!
Yes! Thanks
Wow! That was entertaining 🤩
Thank you
I’ve got red calipers, skid plate, and shackles. Now I need the red tire emblems! Thanks !
Oooo true good point
Awesome. How well has this held up? Debating between this, spraying them with actual paint, and vinyl blackout stickers.
These look sick Im definitely gonna do the matte black
Nailed it!!
Thanks
Looks good thanks for the video. I wouldn't have covered up the brakes I'm glad I saw that. Haha
Yesssir
Mint! Great job!
thanks
Just can't fully justify spending $900+ on black out rims myself. I've used plastic dip before so I'm no stranger to it. I'm definitely planning on plastic dipping my Rim this summer when all the snow melts and when the weathers warmer.
Weather warming up next week over where I’m at! Planning on dipping next week!
Looks good brother! I’m gonna do the same for my Chevy Silverado! 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Good luck!
what did you use for the red on the Tpyota logo for the center caps? Great video
sick dude thanks
Happy to help
Completely transforms the vehicle
Right! Thanks
Awesome video! Will it come off when you wash your truck? Like through the car wash?
Nah it’s holding up amazing
You’re the best CZcamsr
Thanks brotha
How has it held up? Looks great thinking about doing my wheels
AWESOME!!!
was going to just use this on my front and rear bumpers, but now i kind of wanna do my rims as well 🤔
Great video !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
Wow! I have to do this to my 2010 Xterra! How long does the plastidip last? Thank you
Great video! Plasti-dipping the logo red already made a huge difference even on stock wheel color on my cement grey tacoma. Will black out the rest of the wheel this summer. Question - how're the plasti-dip holding out so far?
True thanks!
And pretty well man!
@@TheUnrestricted Awesome. Have you had to ever respray them? I assume you take very good care of them. Im going to do the same to my rims but how long do you expect these to last?
No
Amazing
Looks great!! Just went and spent a thousand bucks on new wheels. Yours look just as god or better than mine.
thanks
Good video. Other videos have the person scuffing up the wheels with a scotchguard pad first - I guess in your 2+ year experience you don't find that necessary. Is it easy and does it still look good after you touch up parts of it after you inevitably scratch it when rotating wheels or when road debris hits it?
Thanks!
You bet!
i'm trying this in my Tiggy 🤩🤩🤩
Use flash cards to put between tire and rim so you dont get it on the tire saves less of a headache
Good idea
U took out the running board bro? It looks good with it! 💪🏽
Yeah not a fan tbh
Goddamn….I got my plans for the weekend now 😂❤
yessssir
@@TheUnrestricted wheels looked gorgeous when you was done, bro ❤️
Nice. Need some black lug nuts. Once u go loosen the stock the plastidip coming off
True!
How are they holding up now? Thinking of doing it on my beater (Scion TC)
How many coats of the black dip did you do to each wheel?
Doing this for my car because the front right side is lookin scruffy lol!!! Might have to redo all of them
People don't realize how durable and long lasting PD is. I have white on my Tundra grill surround and it has lasted 3 years with little touchups here and there. Not sure on wheels, but I am trying this on my daughters Frontier wheels today!
Im curious about maintenance after tires rotation or changes. I assume plastidip scrapes off lug nuts easily. Did you repaint or buy black lug nuts?
Looks great! How does it hold up when washing your rims?
Great!
Any issues on plastidip coming off the lug nuts when removed? Or surrounding area?
I barely cleaned my before I sprayed the plastic dip. Zero issues
Oooo nice
🔥
Didn't know about the tire shine tip to keep the dip from sticking. That's a game changer!!
You mentioned it lasted 2 years. Was it hard removing what was left?
Satisfying peel off
Nice
Looks great. How long does it last. I like FL in extreme heat and moisture.
around 2 years
Amazing! Doing this asap!!!!!!!
Yessssitr
@@TheUnrestricted Ordered the goods… will do it this weekend!
Ooo good luck man! Send me a pic on how it goes on my Instagram
@@TheUnrestricted Still too cold here, so I’m waiting another week or two to do this. Were you concerned about overspray landing on the truck? I’m debating whether to remove the wheels.
Nah no over spray
Wow!
How many cans you need for all four tires??
impressive mod, looks great, super cute guy
This could be a silly question but how does the plasti dip hold up once you need to wash your rims? Do you have to be extra cautious when scrubbing etc?
I was about to ask this very. Haven't seen a reply or anybody else answer either.
Hey, I used plastidip on my Jeep Wrangler. I off-roaded. Went on road trips from California to Miami and it held up plenty of storms, washes, etc for 2 years. It started to dull after 2 years and peel after about 3.
really? it last long for 2years? how many coats did you put?
@@YungYdoc
Bad ass Brother!!! So 3-4 cans total, or per wheel? Great video
i saw 4 in another video this one was 3 according to him
Nice job! How well is it holding up though? I get a lot of car washes
Holds up great, on my last truck it lasted about 2 years and started to peal
I’m planning on plasti dipping my tacoma as well. How many cans of plasti dip do you recommend buying?
3
If you dont like, how do you remove? is it easy to remove?
How long before you drove your truck after plasti dip?
Looks great! How long does it last? Would a drive thru car wash peel it off?
I doubt…that’s what I used to delete the chrome Tacoma on the sides and I car wash all the time…it’s really touch on there
Thanks, no will last like 2-3 years
Just to be safe you can add more coats
Love it!! Easy mod too do, how long did you wait between each coats?? Planing to do my rims this weekend.
About 30 min to be safe
Okay thanks just just want check I heard 30 mins and 10 to 15 mins depending on temperature
True yes
Nice. But before I would do it. I want to see the long term finish. Looks good tho. I use the stuff on wireing.
Lasts about 2-3 years on my old rims
How many cans did you use?
Nice job! What’s the durability for something like this?
If done right had it on a truck for 2 years
Looks great but how durable is it? You getting any chips scratches or peels?
He said 2-3 years
Did you use only 1 can of glossier for all 4 wheels?
What sizes tires you have on?
The best part about plastidip is you can remove it. So if you make your wheels black and hate it, you can remove it.
thats true
How does this hold up?
Is it removable from the wheel?
I notice you sprayed the lug nuts. Will that plastic dip tear when u have your tires rotated. Thank you Tim
probably will
I wish I would have found this before my brother in law did his rims. He took the whole thing off 😂 he was out there for the whole day taking the tire with rim off spray let sit then spray let sit spray let sit then have to put them all back on 😆
Ha Aw mannnn
How much time did this take?
