"Remember the name, Wayne Rooney".
Oh boy, that aged brilliantly. 👏🏼
Yes sir.. it did
"Remember the name, Lionel Messi..!"
@@Zaethian That's not part of the video. It's irrelevant.
@@navinmenon6931 Don't give a shit if it's not relevant. Just thought i'd add it cause they were 2 historical quotes
Aged better than Rooney that’s for sure
Mad that he was 16 and had the confidence to pull that off what a baller
He went playing out on his BMX after this game (it's actually true).
When Rooney retired, I just had to watch this goal again. GGMU
Same!
Same guys!! Just come here for that! Thanks Rooney for all your football
Me too
Same man.
I just have done it 😳
Still remember this. Wow what an explosive entrance to the premier league. Hate him or love him he was one of the finest strikers the world has ever seen. And I support Leeds UTD
My mates thought I was balmy when I said we need him at OLD TRAFFORD! Laughed at me week in week out, I said fergie gonna get him. Very gracious of you, I still love the rivalry between us.
Drive to be a good footballer not to become rich from football
ALAW!
Rooney's been a player longer than your club has existed
@@Stringer13ell don’t be an idiot
Underrated part of the goal is that first touch, completely kills the ball and takes it away from Lauren/Campbell. Instinctively he was way ahead of his time.
Instant control
underrated means something I think, the control was ok btw, the shot was crazy
What a team united had, Rooney, CR7, Scholes, Park, Tevez, Berbatov, Ferdinand, vidic, time goes so fast !
😭😢 no words just tears
At least they got lingard and maguire the rest is history
giggs
Carrick, giggs, evra
Tevez a traitor
I remember that Rooney goal like it was yesterday. Crazy to think it was 18 years ago and he’s retired.
now i think abt it he had a rather short career compared to other players who started at the same time as him
@@manu-nz7vc he played from the age of 16 - 35
16 yo
16 years old to be that calm and cool taking a chance like that against a top team you just knew he was gonna be great player
THIS WAS THE TIME ARSENAL WAS THE MOST INTERESTING TEAM TO WATCH EVERY WEEKEND...!!!!!!!!!!
Every day!
So many blasts from the past!! Rooney with a full head of natural hair, Goodison Park with an atmosphere, Ashley Cole playing for Arsenal, Spunky Seaman's pony tail, a fresh faced David Moyes, no VAR checks after every goal. Time flies, just like it was yesterday.
Clive tyldesely commentating 😍
C'mon, Goodison atmosphere is solid
Sir Alex Ferguson should sign him. He could be the top scorer in the history of Man U, you never know.
I agree with u🔥🔥🔥
🤣🤣🤣
He looks like he would work well with that Portuguese guy they signed.
@pip pip Roberto it is I suppose. These two young lads have great potential, fergie might win a CL with them someday.
Yeah he looks like he is the type of player who would win 3 EPL titles in a row. But you never know what the future has in store for him.
This goal made me a friend 😂 we were the only two people in a packed bar paying attention to match of the day on the tv and when he score that goal we made eye contact nodded with approval ended up having a drink together talking about how good it was and then ended up being mates for the next 8 years or so until i moved away 😂
0:53 - Nice of Elton John to help out.
Stunned and gunned down by a 16 year old. Wayne Rooney.
Every time he says “ remember the name, Wayne Rooney “ I crack up, cartoonish as hell.
Remember the name Wayne Rooney! Still watching this in 2022!
Football had a lot more passion in these days. Love the fans
Said every generation ever

As an Arsenal fan, that man is pure class. What a career.
Watched this live. I’m not a Everton fan but I jumped up in the air fist raised when Rooney scored that goal. Just to wipe the smiles from that smug Arsenal team was brilliant.
I forgot how football used to be so much more fun
Yeah man.....that was real days
Yeah :(
Its all fun until Arabian money came destroying these beautiful things.

Baz Out Of Hell Baz Out Of Hell BLM has nothing to do with that buddy.. This is nearly two decades ago and BLM protests started last year. Get off your fucking soap box and join the rest of the world in trying to make it a better place.
Money eventually destroy's the characters and fun from sports
I was there. Possibly the best goal I've seen live. Just can't believe it's now over 20 years ago. Goodison absolutely erupted when it went in.
I never forget this game when i watched it. As an arsenal fan I’m so gutted that it happened in late injury time. 17 years old boy scored a frickin beautiful long range goal against Seaman. I knew he was gonna be big someday and boy, what a beast he became.
16 years old
No suprise his scored it past Seaman. His weakness was always shots from long range.
@@Prodigy_Fangoal looked weak tbh. Surprised it went in
@@omalone1169 No keeper in the world was stopping it. Curl, dip, bend, in off the underside of the bar.
Anyone else feeling old FIFA games when you hear this crowd and commentator? Anyway, thanks Rooney for what u brought to the game!
2006 was it?

@Ahmad Rosli Man really that early jeez! I'm feeling ancient x'D
I remember of this match like it was yesterday, time fly. It looks football was better in those days, just pure passion.
This is bursting onto the seen Micha - Roy Keane
His entrance wasn't too dissimilar. Important last min goal on Micah's debut
"Another day, another Arsenal goal." Well...
Yeah?
Not anymore
*"another day, another migraine"*
Now it's "another day, same arsenal"
@@LalitSingh-xh5yq Not really, two lucky games and one of them was against a relegation candidate. Dunno what happened to Chelsea but that was a wonder. Arsenal will get back in the dirt sooner or later.
I remember the first time I heard the name Wayne Rooney. The previous season, Everton were playing at my team Southampton. Before the match they read out the teams and substitutes names, when Wayne Rooney was said the Everton fans all cheered. I remember thinking ‘why cheer some unknown sub, that’s weird? I must remember that name for the future’
What a player he was - right from his debut at Everton up to his final games in the MLS
"5days short of his 17th birthday, he has just grown up" Epic commentary!!!
Wow David Moyes is doing a good job with Everton. He should remain their long-term manager
I was 6 years old and sitting on my grandads knee at home in Knotty Ash when this happened, Grandad didn’t live to see Wayne’s return to the mighty blues, but by christ my grandad’s response to this goal is engrained in my mind. COYB.
If youre not getting goose bumps, youre not human
Still think when he came back should have stayed another year was our top scorer
Should of kept him as striker and left him up too
He was only top scorer because he stole the pens off Baines. He really wasn't good for us apart from the hat trick against West Ham.
@@zakwaspe*should HAVE
@Malcolm Head no respect? Rooney deserves no respect no Everton fan should like Rooney he left us when we needed him and then kissed the United badge in front of our fans he deserved to be sold he should of never came back
No shit thats what everyone thinks
Im a villa fan
And I’ll never, ever get tired of watching this beautiful goal
The world of football knew instantly that this player was very very special
Wayne Rooney, what a player!!!!!
Im from south America and I clearly remember that afternoon I was watching the premier league, it was Manchester united against Everton, halftime substitution and this 16 year old chubby lookin lad comes in for Everton... Boy was he good, my brother and I went nuts over his power and skill, even though he couldn't score that day we both agreed that boy was gonna be great in this game and that we should keep and eye on him...
The control to bring that ball down deserves as much appreciation as the shot
What a fantastic player.
Great service to Everton and Man u
The control was impressive, the shot sensational! 💪
20 years ago this weekend. Prob the best English player ive seen and I'm including Gazza.
Game was so much faster and more action packed back then. These days its a bore fest of play acting and defenders staring at the ball while the opponent holds possession.
Those era when the Gunners was the real 'Gunners' . . And the Devils was the real 'Devils'
a big difference in tactic development i guess. Nowadays, team used to bait the opponent in order to mess up their formation or shape. We would not see this kind of fast pace football these days
Not really man. The first two goal wouldn’t just happen these days. Even maguire couldve cleared that first goal
Haaland scores. Rooney did both. Rooney was a beast: striker, attacking midfielder, winger, central midfielder, central defensive midfielder. Top scorer for England and MU
Rooney was absolutely hated on by the media and I have no idea what why. He was unbelievable! What a player.
A wonder goal by 16 years old rooney . Incredible🙏
Notice how all the Arsenal defenders were ready to pounce but were stunned by his first touch that they just backed away from him which gave him the yard of space he needed to smash the ball into the back of the net.
Just the first touch before he scored was just incredible and to had the balls to that against one of the best epl teams of all time is insane. Dude was 20+ year old men in a 16-18 year old body
Was there, Bullens Road, soon as he hit it you knew something magical was going to result. One of my best memories, brought the roof down!
I love Everton I'm from Somalia 🥰

@Gumbls Lauerne Oi! I give a fuck. I love knowing people from distant lands support fairly obscure English clubs.
2:08 a special goal by what ended up being a legendary player. The fact that he even dared to take that shot on (aged only 16) against one of the most formidable goalkeepers in the league, is ridiculous.
One of the most, "Iconic moments," in the premiership era! Briliant !
One of the best goals ever
Imagine being that good at 16.. Greatest ever English player
Much talent born in everton
The control, the poise. World class Wayne Rooney
Commentators a legend 🙌 brings back nostalgia
I love everton from Eritrea 🇪🇷🇪🇷

The best player of his generation he just got better and broke all the records. Top Man!
Cracking goal by Rooney.
The man who manage everton could be man utd manager someday with that display.
Idk man, i think he wont last more than 1 season at united.
One of the best to ever grace the game
Rooney’s hi light reel is incredible
I am only 12 years old, but I remember watching this game live with my father. It was amazing.
Lol was 20 years ago mate u would of been -8
Who else used to have this video on there 3 phone back in the days. Good days
Rest is history. What a player
The control was as good as the shot. Unreal
My favourite player from 04 to 11 just amazing grit determination everything great player such a shame couldn't go on and do it for England
Wayne Rooney......Living legend!
Was sat in the gladwys Street end when this went in, one of the best moments I've experienced at Goodison
Fantastic commentary!! I used to think the premierships early years was fake nostalgia but it really was special
Watching Roony scoring his first premier league goal is like what happened yesterday. Time flies.
I feel so happy for the police man behind goal who got to see that goal up-close despite the fact that he should've been facing the other side.. football is indeed our drug
I shall forever remember that name!
Amazing goal. God, life goes quickly!
Esse goleiro, sempre adiantado! Ronaldinho q o diga!
Wonderful, wonderful player.
How can I forget this goal, it's the goal that lifts Rooney to the whole world & seal the victory for Everton.
Defeating the invincible. Believe me, Arsenal first defeat after their invincible status. That's why I always remembered it.
Remember the Name....... Wayne Rooney 💣
Watching this after Roony retired made me miss the energy of the fans. Wish Rooney the best
If that was in a movie that would be unrealistic. How good was this Lad at that age 🔥
The chill is still real
I watched twice still it gives me shivers daaaaamn!
Remember this day sooo well
Finaly, Now he is Legend...

Like it was yesterday 👏 what a way to score your first premiership goal in off the bar winner against the champions
A damn LEGEND!!!
Thank you Everton and David moyes for Wayne Rooney love from man united
Remember the name WAYNE ROONEY
Remember these commentators too...legendary 😊
My childhood hero❤️
2:28 Even Sol Campbell had to quick change and celebrate with Rooney lol 😂
It wasn’t just the goal. It was the Rooney took the ball down and created the space for himself.
Start of a legend.
Tipping this lad to move to a big club soon, heading for big things this kid!
As a Blackburn Rovers fan, I could watch Rooney score this goal time and time and time again. He was a joy to watch and one of the most memorable players any fan could ever watch. Absolute legend.
Everything about Rooney’s goal was impressive with the control and the courage to take such a shot from so far out.
Young Rooney before the injuries in the 2010s was sensational
I love Wayne Rooney whatever the club was
We remembered the name for the next 15 years as he scored 183 goals in 393 games for us. The Man City overhead kick is always pointed out but he was the difference on countless other occasions. Towards the end of his career, plastic fans were saying he's getting old, we should get rid of him, but that season he was the only reason we finished in the top half of the table with his assists and goals. When we had Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez up front, it was the best attacking lineup I have ever seen us have, those three together were unstoppable.
The only time that I actively watched an extended version of a CZcams commercial
Even a Liverpool fan saying "what a goal!"
