My heart breaks for Pen bcuz I know EXACTLY how she feels. It truly hurts to love someone who doesn’t know, or doesn’t love you back. It’s agonizing. I need to see Colin pining for her in season 3. I want him to know life without her. I want him to fight for her.
I remember in high school I pined for a dude in the year above me, but I knew he pined for his best friend who was dating a guy from another school. I also pined for a guy for two years, and when I suggested we go to a prom together, he said his mother had already partnered him with her best friend's daughter, who already had a boyfriend outside of highschool. So I went alone. Another guy who I was getting close to had his mother and sister push him into a marriage with their friend's daughter. I have a wallflower history. 😂 This is why I like watching these shows/films, because it works out for them, and that is joyful.
How is it that Marina found out Penelope was in love with Colin quicker than her best friend Eloise? In a way, it kinda proved the point that she is never noticed, cause it was clearly obvious despite it being her bother
I wondered the same thing. Best friends should be able to notice things like that, even over time. To me, it reinforces how Eloise wasn't that good of a friend to her. (Pen has her flaws too, for sure! 😬But I hate how oblivious Eloise is to what Penelope goes through in her life.) When a friend of mine was interested in my brother (she and I weren't that close but were friends), I knew because of how she looked at him. She had THAT look around him. When she confessed her feelings for him, I was like, "Yeah, I know." She was like, "Wait, you knew? How?" I just looked at her like, "Um, girl, you weren't exactly subtle!" They're happily married now.
Honestly, in the book series I always thought of Penelope as the main character because the plot centre was Lady Whistledown. I'm kinda excited for s3. Hopefully they will try to recreate the same confidences and heroic character she was in the netflix adaptation
It’s crazy to me how he literally doesn’t have any feelings of scandal when he is alone unsupervised with her bc he genuinely doesn’t look at her like that AND he doesn’t think anyone would see them together and THINK that about them 😢
I know lot of people are coming for Colin for his comment, which was completely shitty no argument. But I think the reason he said that was for one of two reasons; 1. To keep his friends from hackling him. 2. Because at the time, he truly saw Pen as just a family friend, almost family. But I'm excitied to see the look on his face when realizes "Oh shit, I actually have feelings for this woman".
He says this as well in the book, but it is to his brothers and mother to get them off his back about marriage. It changes his character a bit to have him say it to his friends, so I wasn't too happy with it, but we will see how the next season goes! :)

Okay putting the “never courting penelope part aside” After seeing this, i can say that Collin was a great friend to penelope. In the book it’s violet that ask collin to dance with pen but in the series, he voluntarily ask her and he has protected her, cared for her, value her and most importantly, noticed her , her presence and asked for forgiveness when he was wrong for the Marina part
To see their whole journey so far is so sweet to watch and also at times so heartbreaking. I’m excited to get season 3’s moments included and since they are the main couple we shall have a lot more!

I read the books like 15 years before anyone even thought of making it a series, daphne and smon was always what a young girl dreams of, but Penelope was relatable. I am her, the bullied, snubbed chubby girl all the handsome men see as just a friend. So it was so sweet when Colin woke up in the book and figured out what a beauty she really was when allowed to dress as she pleases and when he bothered to know her. As for that remark, in the books it was said to his own brothers after his mum had been nagging him into rage by making him marry. He apologised as soon as he knew she heard and always felt bad for it afterwards. Also it was sorta that remark and her hurt face that woke I'm at first.

He's always staring her down during their conversations, even when she thinks he's not looking, he finds her in crowded rooms(like he's always searching for her). i've always liked penelope and colin's story, in season 2 we see so much of it. season 3 is there story and i'm so excited for it. i feel so bad for penelope because she loves him and he loves her but won't tell her. She has always loved him and i hate that he doesn't see he loves her until later on.
Really loving the show, currently midway through season two, the chemistry between kate and anthony is electric and love the recognisable music used at the balls, brilliant idea. As a lover of the Regency style, I have two dresses and two bonnets, seeing shows like this makes me wish I could wear them to pop to the grocers !! As an added note, as a bigger sized lady myself it's great to see such diversity in this series, Penelope, the Sharmas, the Duke of Hastings etc.

I didn't like any of the main couples in the two seasons. I watched this series only for Colin, Penelope, Eloise and the storyline which was quite fast paced and interesting. Colin and Pen are my favourite couple. Eagerly awaiting S3

He was just agreeing with Pen that Miranda's suitor was no Lord Byron (i.e., it was a bad poetry reading). From the inflection in Colin's voice, he seemed surprised by Pen's intelligence and/or wit. I also noted that that he was glancing at Pen during the poetry reading and spoke only to Pen before leaving even though he was there to call on Miranda.

People often tell me Penelope wronged Marina. This edit just showed me that I was right for defending her. She tried her best to put some sense into Marina's actions. Pen even accepted Colin courting Ms. Crane. But when she tried to seduce him and trap him into marriage it was enough for her. He deserved better than to be a means to an end and Penelope knew that. I feel bad for what has happened to Marina and anxious about him discovering that Pen is Whistledown. But he will never be able to say that she doesn't love him. She is my roman empire since the first time I saw her, even in the books. She deserved better from her family and others.
And it was the same with Eloise as well. She was getting too close to the Queen's Black List and Pen did what she had to do to ensure her friend would stay safe. She wrote some bad things (I know) but if it wasn't for that, Eloise would have been done for real, not only because of the Queen but also Theo. (S2) Btw wtf is Eloise and Cressida doing together in S3? I don't like it. Cressida may have a redemption arc BUT she only tried to be Eloise's friend after trying to bribe and mock Daphne in S1. Daphne put her in her place and THEN she tried to befriends with the other sister. NONSENSE. To me it was never true friendship and Cressida just took advantage of the duo being apart to become more influent.

i've always liked penelope and colin's story, in season 2 we see so much of it. season 3 is there story and i'm so excited for it. i feel so bad for penelope because she loves him and he loves her but won't tell her. She has always loved him and i hate that he doesn't see he loves her until later on.
Really loving the show, currently midway through season two, the chemistry between kate and anthony is electric and love the recognisable music used at the balls, brilliant idea. As a lover of the Regency style, I have two dresses and two bonnets, seeing shows like this makes me wish I could wear them to pop to the grocers !! As an added note, as a bigger sized lady myself it's great to see such diversity in this series, Penelope, the Sharmas, the Duke of Hastings etc.
Love it when they film from her pov (above her shoulder) Colin towering over her.
But from his pov Penelope looks so adorably small.

Colin better have a damn good explanation as to why he said what he said to that group of gents. Especially after him saying all the stuff about him realising Pen cared for him and that he would always look after her etc. It doesn’t make a lot of sense and is a low blow.
I didn't like any of the main couples in the two seasons. I watched this series only for Colin, Penelope, Eloise and the storyline which was quite fast paced and interesting. Colin and Pen are my favourite couple. Eagerly awaiting S3

I like book Colin a lot more than season 1 Colin so much, I feel as though he’s very dismissive of Penelope in every aspect, he doesn’t care for her at all in some scenes, and that says a lot because he’s not that great in the books when it comes to the respect of her family, he doesn’t respect them at all when he first begins to court her.

He was just agreeing with Pen that Miranda's suitor was no Lord Byron (i.e., it was a bad poetry reading). From the inflection in Colin's voice, he seemed surprised by Pen's intelligence and/or wit. I also noted that that he was glancing at Pen during the poetry reading and spoke only to Pen before leaving even though he was there to call on Miranda.
@@Kascie Ohhk. I didn't know Lord Byron was an actual person who was a poet. I thought that the suitor's name was lord Byron. I noticed that too he was glancing at Pen perhaps he thought that Pen actually enjoyed the suitor's poetry reading and was little uncomfortable with that thought. Who knows.

People often tell me Penelope wronged Marina. This edit just showed me that I was right for defending her. She tried her best to put some sense into Marina's actions. Pen even accepted Colin courting Ms. Crane. But when she tried to seduce him and trap him into marriage it was enough for her. He deserved better than to be a means to an end and Penelope knew that. I feel bad for what has happened to Marina and anxious about him discovering that Pen is Whistledown. But he will never be able to say that she doesn't love him. She is my roman empire since the first time I saw her, even in the books. She deserved better from her family and others.
And it was the same with Eloise as well. She was getting too close to the Queen's Black List and Pen did what she had to do to ensure her friend would stay safe. She wrote some bad things (I know) but if it wasn't for that, Eloise would have been done for real, not only because of the Queen but also Theo. (S2)
Btw wtf is Eloise and Cressida doing together in S3? I don't like it. Cressida may have a redemption arc BUT she only tried to be Eloise's friend after trying to bribe and mock Daphne in S1. Daphne put her in her place and THEN she tried to befriends with the other sister. NONSENSE. To me it was never true friendship and Cressida just took advantage of the duo being apart to become more influent.
