Even Caitlyn Clark would appreciate it if the media and fans stop disrespecting the other players in the WNBA. She gets it. She is predominantly the crowd favorite and the rock star they want to see. But let’s stop asking the players questions about popularity and stop forcing them to answer questions concerning how they liked playing to larger crowds. Duh! They are stupid questions meant to justify an article that the interviewer has already written. All anyone wants to know is, how was it playing against Caitlyn Clark? After the 1000th time being asked that question, you just think, “ is this REALLY a sports journalist?” When will the narrative change? I can’t wait to see the all stars game. Actually the Aces were one of 4 profitable teams in the WNBA before Caitlin. They have a net wort of $140 million, the highest in the league. Because the ONLY team Caitlin is actually helping is the Fever, the LEAGUE as a whole loses millions with or without her.

Kelsey Plum also doesn’t mention that they had to move the game into the bigger arena to accommodate the bigger crowd. As an athlete it’s always more exciting to play in front of that size of crowd. Plus they said that game’s attendance was larger than the 5 games of the NBA Finals.

There was a different interview going around the other day that I can’t find now where the opposing player just simply said. “We blame Caitlin.” She was talking about their packed crowd after being moved to the nba stadium I believe. It was said with a snarky smile and seemed very genuinely positive.
What if most of the teams just started using this like when asked about the added attention, added attendance, added perks like private flights, etc? They don’t have to lose any competitive edge, can still follow up with something like they’re still coming with a wake up call, and it keeps the positive momentum for everyone.
Maybe I’m off on that being an example of what the marketing brain trust should be latching onto, but they’ve gotta do something

There are several reasons Caitlin is so appreciated. Even when Angel Reese was being the poorest winner in history of sport, at least in my 75 years, Caitlin was still gracious and praised LSU and Angel. There are a lot of people that like that Caitlin honors her opponents A great many people like that Caitlin is straight and yet very accepting of all the players in the WNBA. And of course people love Caitlin because she plays at a totally different level. She stretches the floor with her shooting range and probably is the best long range passer in women's basketball history; also Caitlin may be the most intelligent player exhibited by her rebounding, that has to be true because she is not using her size.

Men structure sports differently. When the alpha players ascend to the top men are not threatened by it. They naturally fall in line with the pecking order with no loss of self respect. For women deferring to the top dog makes them feel inadequate. What’s frustrating for male fans to understand is that CC is not trying in any way to make them feel inferior but they are feeling and reacting to it anyway. Every time us male fans promote Caitlin’s alpha status it touches a nerve we just don’t get. If it was a male game, Aja Wilson would get the ball in the post every possession. She’s the alpha. Wilt scores 100 because they just feed him to ball cause he was the alpha. It’s a different mental approach in the women’s game. Not better or worse, just different.

September 10 2023, the Aces played the Mercury in the T Mobile arena in front of 17406 fans. The first game against the Fever this year drew 10399 fans. That attendance was beaten by their season opener against the Mercury (10419) and New York(10424). They are averaging 10379 fans per game this year. They have a net worth of $140 million. The highest in the WNBA. $36 million above the average WNBA team net worth of $96 million.2022, the average attendance for the Aces was 5606. 2023 average attendance 9551. 2024 average attendance excluding the last game vs the Fever, over 10000.

Can you please make a commentary on the All-Star selection. After the fan, player and media votes were tallied, the top 10 players included Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. Because 6 of the top ten are already with the Olympic effect, the 6 - 8 players for the Alll-Star will have to be selected by the coaches from the next 36 players who garnered the most votes. Out of the 36, there were 7 players from the Indiana Fever. That is definitely due to the Caitlin Clark effect. In other words, almost the entire Indiana Fever team were voted for the selection process.

LOL!!! people continuously compare a great 30 second in the league Rookie's (popularity, talent, stats, sell out arenas, etc...) to players who've been in the league for over five years now. And it's not until now that CC is in, that both tickets prices and sales have gone up tremendously. There's a huge difference between $9.00 tickets, and $94.00 tickets. You learn things like that in high school economics. And just because tickets were being sold out before at $9 doesn't mean THOSE same people are now willing to spend nearly a $100. Probably different people showing up to watch. People who love watching CC play.

If they had sold the tickets for $12 they could have sold 80,000 as it is the tickets were going for as high as $94 if i'm not mistaken. So do the math Kelsey 20,000 x 12=240,000, 20,000 x 94=1,880,000 thats just under 8 times the revenue. They are using rhat same math they were using when they were moaning about not being paid the same as NBA players. What did they major in in college anyway? Certainly not math.

For every home game that the Aces had last year, they only averaged less than 6,000 per game. The Jul 2nd sellout game was due to thr popularity of Caitlin Clark. Why won't the coach and players acknowledge her>are they that envious and jealous of CC?
