I think it's getting to the point where I'm losing respect for Caitlin Clark. The disrespect by her coach is not just with how she speaks about her in public. But repeatedly physically accosting her on the sidelines is not just inappropriate but borderline abuse. Caitlin has literally zero incentive to stay at the Fever. I will say this, they went head to head with the lynx and Hung with them in a Half court game. Pretty damn impressive! 💯 They have defense. It takes Caitlin out of her style of play, but she adjusted in the fourth to help get what they needed.

Sides has developed (via body language/ comments) an intense anger & bitterness toward CC and now hates the mere presence of her & what she represents... fast play style, MVP skill-set, a BB IQ higher than her coach, and a massive fanbase that shines a spotlight on this overwhelmed, incompetent & irrelevant HC. Millions are witnessing & criticizing her blundering decisions, wounding her narcissistic Ego. That's why we often see coach in-game grabbing & pulling CC's arm, shouting at her, and sabotaging her game... all to maintain control, i.e. power, over her own hopeless & powerless situation. The irony is that Side's desperate attempts to control her own favorable "image" & legacy are thwarted by her emotional triggers of rage & fear, causing her to react (as opposed to making sound decisions) to the point of punishing CC on the court & jeopardizing wins. Sides isn't capable of emotional neutrality, and there IS no resolution to the increasingly harmful & negative discourse btw coach & CC, so long as Sides lacks the inner (self)- integrity to take responsibility for her own fundamental character defects. While there may be other agendas at play underlining Sides' decisions, this is an important component, IMHO.
Here was my main takeaway from this game: When I saw them running that slow half-court offense, I thought we were going to be in for a big loss. I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to keep it close playing that way. They couldn't have done that earlier this season. That being said, the comeback would not have happened without some transition offense. Boston had a great game. Smith had a great first half. Clark and Mitchell had a great 4th quarter (Mitchell had 3 assists! What?). Half-court defense looked much improved, too. Lexi Hull was key.
Christie Sides is a terrible coach. She kept coming up with terrible half court plays and making Wheeler a point guard which is a terrible idea. The Fever should be doing fast pace basketball instead of Sides slow pace post plays that never works bwa ha ha ha ha!

I'm no coaching expert, but I thought coaches were supposed to develop game plans and plays that utilize players strengths, not hamstring them. I really believe this team would do better if they had no coach at all.

I didn't see a lot of good running opportunities against the Lynx. Their half court looked a little bit better today but it pales in comparison to what they can do on the open floor. Still wondering which team has the most shot clock violations because it seems the fever always have it in the wrong person's hands when the clock is running down. If the shot clock is at 8, Caitlin needs to get her own shot or set somebody up. Also good of her to draw some fouls at the end of the game.
What really bakes my noodle is that in the pre-game Sides flat out said that they have to run to be at their most potent, and the game starts and it's all about slowing it down. WTH? Is it possible that Lynn Dunn's agenda (and Sides by her complicty) is to hamper the teams improvement (# of wins) in order to get back to the draft buffet in 2025? I know that sounds like a conspiracy but how else can you make any sense of what is going on in terms of Dunns full support of Sides coaching? I don't know, man, there is just a foul stench to this whole league. It seems rotten to the core. It really does and it needs a serious house cleaning.
Other explanations beyond draft pick: 1. Maybe their salaries aren't tied to win/loss record so they didn't really need to care about that. 2. Maybe somebody is betting on the game. Either betting Fever will lose, or betting on the points spread, or both. 3. Maybe Sides has relationships with other teams that lead her to take money under the table to make them look good. Did you see that bizarre embrace between Sides and the Chicago coach after the last time they played each other? 4. Maybe somebody in the WNBA hierarchy wants to keep Caitlin down and is paying or pressuring Sides to make it so.

Both Hull and Mitchell are phenomenal around the basket with both hands and both great defenders. Mitchell just needs to start passing more instead of shooting so much from the perimeter.

Don't know if this was the mindset but I like the idea of working on the half-court game and leaning on your D and see where that gets you, and using the run and gun when needed. Better to develop their all around game and also saving CC's legs.
When Caitlin was in college, she and the other starters played the full 40 minutes. No rest breaks. That's how Coach Bluder trained them - conditioning to build their endurance so today they could. Caitlin's legs don't need to be spared. But maybe those of her teammates do.
It looked that way to me. They were down 7 going into the fourth. I obviously don't know for sure, but my best guess is in that situation CC's basketball instincts take over. In that instance, it's get out in the open floor and put pressure on the other team by putting them back on their heels.

Defense was clearly the focus of improvement in this game. That mission accomplished. The lack of movement in the half court is unforgivable.

I will say this, they went head to head with the lynx and Hung with them in a Half court game. Pretty damn impressive! 💯 They have defense. It takes Caitlin out of her style of play, but she adjusted in the fourth to help get what they needed.
Can't be said enough... Sides has developed (via body language/ comments) an intense anger & bitterness toward CC and now hates the mere presence of her & what she represents... fast play style, MVP skill-set, a BB IQ higher than her coach, and a massive fanbase that shines a spotlight on this overwhelmed, incompetent & irrelevant HC. Millions are witnessing & criticizing her blundering decisions, wounding her narcissistic Ego. That's why we often see coach in-game grabbing & pulling CC's arm, shouting at her, and sabotaging her game... all to maintain control, i.e. power, over her own hopeless & powerless situation. The irony is that Side's desperate attempts to control her own favorable "image" & legacy are thwarted by her emotional triggers of rage & fear, causing her to react (as opposed to making sound decisions) to the point of punishing CC on the court & jeopardizing wins. Sides isn't capable of emotional neutrality, and there IS no resolution to the increasingly harmful & negative discourse btw coach & CC, so long as Sides lacks the inner (self)- integrity to take responsibility for her own fundamental character defects. While there may be other agendas at play underlining Sides' decisions, this is an important component, IMHO.
Here was my main takeaway from this game: When I saw them running that slow half-court offense, I thought we were going to be in for a big loss. I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to keep it close playing that way. They couldn't have done that earlier this season. That being said, the comeback would not have happened without some transition offense. Boston had a great game. Smith had a great first half. Clark and Mitchell had a great 4th quarter (Mitchell had 3 assists! What?). Half-court defense looked much improved, too. Lexi Hull was key.
CC cares more about her team’s standing than her personal stats. Boston was a beast. Mitchell is more warmed up to CC

Christie Sides is a terrible coach. She kept coming up with terrible half court plays and making Wheeler a point guard which is a terrible idea. The Fever should be doing fast pace basketball instead of Sides slow pace post plays that never works bwa ha ha ha ha!

In the last six games Fever have defeated the Liberty, Mercury twice, and the Lynx. The coach provided the game plan and managed the games. Guess coach incompetent. Big picture.

I'm no coaching expert, but I thought coaches were supposed to develop game plans and plays that utilize players strengths, not hamstring them. I really believe this team would do better if they had no coach at all.
Ugly game. Do you notice when teams put their best offensive player on Clark they have bad games? Copper the first game she guards Clark and has a bad offensive night. Mcbride tonight really clamped her down but also not good offensively. Not sure why they didn't run and gun until the 4th but glad Mcbride was too busy hugging CC to get going offensively lol
As far as Mitchell goes... She has her faults but compared to the league, she good enough. Most of them aren't great
I didn't see a lot of good running opportunities against the Lynx. Their half court looked a little bit better today but it pales in comparison to what they can do on the open floor. Still wondering which team has the most shot clock violations because it seems the fever always have it in the wrong person's hands when the clock is running down. If the shot clock is at 8, Caitlin needs to get her own shot or set somebody up. Also good of her to draw some fouls at the end of the game.
I would like to see a benched Wheeler next game. Too much dribbling with nowhere to go. I sure hope Temi comes back soon.

What really bakes my noodle is that in the pre-game Sides flat out said that they have to run to be at their most potent, and the game starts and it's all about slowing it down. WTH? Is it possible that Lynn Dunn's agenda (and Sides by her complicty) is to hamper the teams improvement (# of wins) in order to get back to the draft buffet in 2025? I know that sounds like a conspiracy but how else can you make any sense of what is going on in terms of Dunns full support of Sides coaching? I don't know, man, there is just a foul stench to this whole league. It seems rotten to the core. It really does and it needs a serious house cleaning.
Other explanations beyond draft pick:
1. Maybe their salaries aren't tied to win/loss record so they didn't really need to care about that.
2. Maybe somebody is betting on the game. Either betting Fever will lose, or betting on the points spread, or both.
3. Maybe Sides has relationships with other teams that lead her to take money under the table to make them look good. Did you see that bizarre embrace between Sides and the Chicago coach after the last time they played each other?
4. Maybe somebody in the WNBA hierarchy wants to keep Caitlin down and is paying or pressuring Sides to make it so.

Don't know if this was the mindset but I like the idea of working on the half-court game and leaning on your D and see where that gets you, and using the run and gun when needed. Better to develop their all around game and also saving CC's legs.
When Caitlin was in college, she and the other starters played the full 40 minutes. No rest breaks. That's how Coach Bluder trained them - conditioning to build their endurance so today they could.
Caitlin's legs don't need to be spared. But maybe those of her teammates do.

It looked that way to me. They were down 7 going into the fourth. I obviously don't know for sure, but my best guess is in that situation CC's basketball instincts take over. In that instance, it's get out in the open floor and put pressure on the other team by putting them back on their heels.

I get that the ball needs to start in CCs hands. When it doesn't, the weakest part of her game becomes very clear. CC is sub-par at moving without the ball. Hopefully she'll work on that and become even more awesome.
