As children, at least in a healthy upbringing and environment, are supposed to be taught that getting angry is fine, it is the way that you deal with said anger that matters. Everyone gets frustrated and angry at times, that’s completely normal and human. That doesn’t justify a persons behavior after getting angry, though. It’s why we’re taught to take 5, count to 10, other ways to still experience your anger, while still behaving in a civil manner. I.E. not throwing ur racket on the ground.
Edit: some grammar stuff. Probably still not perfect but I hope the point is clear.

      @@mickk8519 I agree they shouldn't
But I won't be ignorant when I see where every sport started versus where they ended up 20 years, 40 years, 100 years later
Players change when society changes and the sports have to follow suit accordingly
It's my opinion, as it may be the ref's opinion, that players nowadays are more visibly frustrated. In part it's due to the level of connection we are able to have with the players today versus when the sports were starting. It doesn't mean they're more easily frustrated. Just visibly.
Any ref worth their salt will be making decisions to make the game better based on how they believe their actions will affect both the game and the sport
He very quickly assumed a commanding posture and laid out that he knew what was going on and convincingly
100 years ago that was the standard why should it be a negative thing now? That we should assume that that wasn't necessary from the start?
Everyone watches sports for a different reason
I watch it because I don't usually watch it
It doesn't mean I like it a lot when I do watch it
But there has to be something for me and normally there is and I enjoy it
Others watch it because it's a part of their daily lives, or a part of their livelihood
Things work out and the drama goes away
To a certain extent, you cannot have he same sport you remember as time goes forwards
      It's going to change
It's the nature of the humans that play, judge, watch, and support

This is a doubles net where the post is located outside the court and a singles net is located between the inner and outer side lines. But then corrected himself as Tiafoe had run into the 'permeant fixture' part of the net between the singles stick and the doubles post. Raonic argued that a the ball has to bounce twice before the net is hit. In the uncut conversation, the Umpire then explains that he did call touch in error but that the Umpire's error did not effect the play as Raonic could not have gotten to the ball regardless of the call.

Singles only uses the inside set of tramlines, and when playing singles, only the part of the net that is within the width of the singles court (including the line) counts as “the net” which a player may not touch.

I don't play tennis but Volleyball is similar to this. It doesn't count if you touch the Out of bounds side of the net. Heck you can even go under the net and hit the volleyball back to your teammates if your teammate gets a bad recieve.

I dunno if this is a great umpire or we just never hear the others, cause I 100% trust he knows the rule and he does a great job explaining it. So many umps seem to make outrageous calls and then just shut down and ignore the players, like they're god (but maybe they just aren't mic'd and we don't hear them).

And technically, breaking your racket on purpose is "unsportsmanlike conduct" and he should have been fined.

  • @ryanvezina7018
    @ryanvezina7018 Před měsícem +1

That actually makes sense, its technically not part of the net in singles, they use the net pole because they are playing on a court that you can do singles and doubles. But at Wimbledon and Roland Garros they have courts where the net post is inside the doubles alley, technically that is a singles only court. They do this because the net has to be 3.5’ on the sides and 3’ in the middle.
The funny thing is in high school we dont even use the poles 😂

Everyone is just talking about the ref.
But I just want you guys to remember that that guy was not black, he smashed the racket, and this entire comment section isn't shitting on him and his entire race and the making of his character. Nor are there literally thousands of comments infantilizing him and downplaying his frustrations.
But I was watching a video where a black volleyball player was upset with a ref call, and the comment section is so different from this one. I just implore you to go look this up and really see the differences.
