I love that you include and talk about the scene between Farleigh and Felix where Farleigh is calling him out for the quiet racism in the family. This is such an important scene to understand Farleigh’s mindset in the movie and most channels I’ve seen watch the movie just gloss right over it.
A manor is a large estate with a historic significance, serving as the primary residence. In contrast, a mansion is a luxurious and spacious house that often exceeds 7,000 square feet.
Girl how did you not immediately clock the lie when Felix took Oliver to see his mom from the level of panic and sociopathy Oliver had been displaying lol.
He also IMMEDIATELY lied to the butler by saying he caught the bus but we very clearly saw him getting a ride in a car. There was absolutely clues of his pathological lying if someone was paying attention while watching. Lol
@@AnxietyRat NAHHHH I literally thought he just didn’t want to see his alcoholic mother. His panic is not an unreasonable reaction when considering the stories he was telling. And also the whole principle that Felix just up and decided he was gonna take him there. The anxiety that would induce was absolutely believable to me… y’all not about to drag me like this 😂😂😂😂 but I’ll give you that one lil thing concerning his mode of transportation. Def missed that 😅
@SaidByTy Oliver also lied and said that his father had died, that he hit his head on the pavement. Felix and everyone gave their condolences, and Oliver even threw a stone in the river for his dad. So you should have known he lied as soon as Oliver's mother said that his father was working in the garden.
When you said please while oliver was going up her body hoping he'd leave her alone was my exact reaction lol i was begging him not to violate that poor woman on her death bed 😂
Best reaction I've seen so far. 😂 Thanks for making it. The cinematography and sound design are easier to appreciate on the big screen, and elevate an already solid script. Little details such as suddenly panning out to reveal their huge stately home when the Lady of the house is implying she's the "common people" referred to in the Pulp song, raised laughs in the theater, but don't hit quite so hard on a small screen.
3:28 Oh no.... I eat my crunchy chocolate bar sideways too... like playing a harmonica 💀. I promise I'm not a psychopath😥 😭. I liked this movie a lot. Like you, I watched it without knowing what it was going to be about and I'm so glad that I did that. It blew my mind! I watched it on Prime first & loved it so much that I decided to see it again in the cinema. Thanks for the review 😊
This movie is so incredibly interesting. I love that you were shook…we all were and that’s what makes it so good. Not the normal predictable film. I’m low key obsessed with it.

This is just golden content, but I can't see a bath tub the same way again 😢 also Wednesday Addams was right when she said " it's always the quiet ones"
I watched this movie because I grew up in Oxford and still live here, didn't know anything about the plot, not even the synopsis... let's just say I didn't get what I was expecting! Thoroughly entertained though. Also it's not everyday you see a movie shot in places you know like the back of your hand!
I think the movie should have ended at the grave , I was really enjoying the movie until the sister died, even there discussion in the bath tub was amazing, but then just her dying started to ruin it for me, it didn't really feel necessary at all and the same with the ending with the Mum, that felt even more unnecessary. I would have preferred it to end at the grave or like a different ending where say he just moves into the house and stays with the family, maybe having a greater relationship with Venetia. The ending we got with him being a mastermind killer ruined it for me as the movie up until then seemed like a funny story of a great friendship, but instead it was potentially a killer mastermind plan to take over the families wealth. Or potentially this mastermind plan started when Felix 'disowned' Ollie for lying to him about his parents and what not, and Felix was kicking Ollie out the next day after the party, that's when Ollie decided to get some sort of 'revenge' of Felix, but regardless of when he came up with the plan to kill them and take their wealth, the ending just makes the whole of the movie until that point less enjoyable for me because everything I thought was funny and just what I though was happening in general, was actually not that. If I was to rewatch the movie again it wouldn't be the same or enjoyable as the first time I watched it as I would feel different knowing what Ollie does, knowing that was all an act. This ending really ruined it for me
I have to completely disagree. Like I said at a couple points during the reaction, up until the last moments I would’ve left the movie not knowing what message it was trying to convey if it weren’t for the master plan reveal. Ollie was always off-he literally watched Felix have sex with a girl without their knowledge, which is inexcusably creepy and invasive. Red flag. Then we have the drinking of bath water, and the blood scene with Venetia, and finding out he was lying about his background, and the grave scene, etc. You say the ending is unnecessary, but all of THAT would’ve been unnecessary if it wasn’t part of a master plan that brought the point home that Ollie is obsessive and very clearly not mentally well. At no point did I think this was a story about a great friendship. Him being a creep from the get-go left no room for misunderstanding in that department for me. So while I didn’t know WHAT this movie was, it surely wasn’t giving beautiful friendship story vibes. And having it end without the master plan while taking all those scenes into account, it would’ve just been a weird movie about a weird guy doing weird things with zero payoff.
@@SaidByTy True you make some good points, but to me the main story of the movie at the start is about Felix and Ollies friendship/ Ollie befriending Felix and Ollie moving into Saltburn, and we see Ollie and Felix constantly partying and having fun together. We get the impression that Ollie is an awkward and very weird person, and then he goes on to do the messed up things he does. To me it was already obvious that Ollie was not well mentally and it was obvious that he was responsible for the murder, I don't think we really needed to be told it when it appeared obvious. And the fact that we see that Ollie popped the bike tire and everything, giving the impression that he planned for all of this to happen over the course of 16 years and was a mastermind murderer (Although I think it was intended that Ollie just popped the bike tire to have an excuse to talk to Felix and be his friend, not planning to even meet Felix's family or kill them at the time, I think this was also confirmed as well that he decided to kill them after Felix told him to leave and that they weren't friends anymore), to me that ending gives the impression of like an 'it was all a dream' ending. Of course the ending I proposed definently is far from a good one, but I think there was better endings that they could have used, especially because of how gruesome the murders were. Because up until then sure there was some 'interesting scenes', but nothing murderous or as gruesome as what we saw, it sort of came out of nowhere. But you do raise some good points that made me rethink and that I agree with. I still loved this movie but for me the ending changed its rating from like a 9.5 imo to a 7.
Ty, you are so freaking brilliant! And so hilarious! I just wish I had watched this before I saw the damn movie. Then I wouldn't have had to see the damn movie. This is great!
Say what you will, you have to admire how Oliver planned and flawlessly executed the whole thing. He wanted Saltburn, he got it. Still, incredibly fucked up, of course.
Ollie truly went all in on Gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss.

Oh I was ABSOLUTELY on board with what he was saying, and it felt obvious from the beginning

The moment they drove to his home and i saw the house i was like 'That aint the house of a poor man'

That bathtub scene was not shocking to me because if I come across Michael B. Jordan in a tub, I’m grabbing a glass.
