Magneto literally having a Jungian Shadow Persona moment with himself. I don’t think that would have hit me nearly as hard as it would have if this had been done five years ago. The acceptance of his failings and darkness, rather than rejecting them, and coming out of it a more whole and complete person. Done wonderfully, and made even better with Rob offering details and explanation. Hits hard. Hits good.
Ikr? Who's the writer? The dialogue is soooo good as well. It FELT like Magneto. And the drawing+colouring is on another level too.

I kind of agree this reflects the concept that no matter how old you get we are always changing and evolving through either our own personal choices or how the world changes with us. When you’re young you’re optimistic and believe in miracles but as you get older you become cynical and you’ll lose a good deal of that faith realizing that at the end of the day there really isn’t any magic and that sometimes if you want something you have to work for it it won’t just magically appear in front of you all the time. And even if you are a religious person it is foolish to believe that every single prayer that you make is going to be answered by God because you are not the only person in this world when you think about it there are millions if not billions of people who also have prayers so you have to think if your prayer is as important as the other several billion people who are also praying.
Anyway I like this dialogue it’s a perfect metaphor for one dealing with one’s self. It’s kind of like finding an old VHS tape in a box in the attic putting it in the machine and then seeing just how goofy you think you were back then and reflect on the person you are now.
@@John-Doe-Yo The joke wasn't implying our lives were bad in middle school, but that there's a strong chance we were pretty cringey and edgy due to a general lack of life experience and perspective mixed with the inability to properly process the normal emotions and frustrations of life that most people deal with. Storm and Magneto are two of my top 3 favorite comic characters. I've really enjoyed them over the Krakoan run.

The discussion between Ororo Eric and the shadow king in this issue was good character development for all three.
And to think, this may all be orchestrated by some OP little boy who's conjuring up how another one of his favorite characters should come back to life.

I always viewed him as a renegade but strong Leader. Never a hero, but willing to protect the ones on his side. Always willing to fight every war and every battle, even tho it just caused more and bigger endless chaos… witch is x-actly what Professor X was trying tk fight against! Even if it cost him his life…
Magneto is and always will be one of my favorite X-men, this story was awesome
IMO, Magneto is probably the most relatable and justifiable villain in Marvel comics and perhaps beyond.

I hope he catches up with his kids soon because they're in big trouble. Although I like that, Quicksilver is getting more respect in terms of his power set and potential abilities. Speedsters like him are way too slept on
You have to sleep on speedsters. If they're allowed to be at full power all the time, nothing could ever stop them
@m.mulder8864 that is such a good point but then why not just have speedsters have their own unique threats and challenges to face? Just like having someone like Franklin Richard's, a universal reality shaper, but still capable of having interesting stories and unique showings of his power compared to other reality warpers like the Scarlet Witch
@@yoyomayne we do that quite often. Specifically with the Flash. Flash battles evil speedsters. The problem is that speed is still the defining factor and the escalating story requires escalating speed. The good speedster has to become faster than the bad speedster. That's when power scaling eventually raises their speed to the point where speed is now irrelevant as they can just do whatever they want.
@m.mulder8864 Right so maybe limit the speedsters to factors such as exhaustion or elevated deadly heart rates similar to A train from the boys. There should always be some type of weakness to exploit
@@yoyomayne in one off or short form comics, sure. With long term reoccurring characters like Quicksilver and the Flash, it never works out that way.

There are articles that say that this shows that Xavier is a villain, but it's like, everyone has a dark side to them, and Xavier chooses to believe that best in people, and he is not a bad guy, he might be a bit naive and he might snap with Onslaught and other things from being continually hated and his students and family being hunted and attacked, but still, Xavier does not seem like that bad of a guy.
I dunno why, but seeing this breakdown and seeing these two characters explored more deeply, had just made me realise...
Storm would have a BRILLIANT villain arc.

No one is really gone in comics, wait a few months and they always come back.
I don't know why but I got emotional at different parts of the story especially when they join hands and make their way back to reality. What a great story this is.
I do so love when they take a dive down the infinite rabbit hole of human philosophy. Brings back echoes of the old Stan's Soapbox days. (but with better dialogue 😅)
It's more than a soap box. They're speaking to something more introspective than just judging the world as a whole

I'm a very casual comic fan and get my fix through this channel while working, but good lord, that Jungian Magneto conversation was so good. S tier shit.
I remember how it felt to take that throne. All that it meant and all that it did not.
Storm with responsibility is true but as a wise uncle once said, with great power must also come great responsibility. She is Omega or Beyond Omega level means a lot of responsibility.
Also, Reed Richards can always say he has friends in high places, literally the highest of places lol. So much so Eternity showed up at his trial to clear him lol.

@tsudinwarr8766 Magneto carried the Marvel on the villain side for decades. Doom was great...excellent but media wise? Magneto was more successful and way more popular plus his story is hesrtbreaking sibce he technically shouldn't be a villain at all. These days..no doubt Doom is the biggest marvel villain going but Magneto is the superior character.
I like the respect and love that Magneto feel for Charles. He now know everything that had happened in the real world but still believe in his best friend.

I love Magneto as a character. Not evil but not righteous either. It's like he is on somekind of spectrum. Not black or white good or evil,binary so to speak. He has let his experience shape the path he has taken whether just or unjust in our eyes.
