Great video Shane and Melody love it Wise Virginia looks like a beautiful town y'all show us thanks for sharing
Thank you so much Chubs, we appreciate it!
Thank you so much! I love the folks at UVA Wise, and the town of Wise was just lovely and full of good, hospitable people, when I was down there visiting for work. Reno's was one of the places I ate at that was recommended, and it was really good. Never knew that George C. Scott was from Wise! Great video, and glad to see you all out and about again!
Glad to have you back. I missed the priceless banter between you two.
How is your book selling?
I enjoyed reading my "unsigned" copy.
Oh good, you finally went to Wise!! My mother is from Wise, I love it there, it is my adopted home town!
I used to live in St. Paul Va...miss it so much. God Bless
Clinch Valley College Class of 1997. Thanks for sharing!
Hey guys, Iâm a Yankee from rural northern Appalachia, and I absolutely love your channel! I grew up in both Pennsylvania and Vermont. You should consider checking out some of the northern states-you might be surprised. PA doesnât have the bigger mountains like youâd find in VA or NC, but the culture is very much Appalachian and the state is filled with small mountain towns. Appalachia in New England has a different kind of Appalachian culture, but itâs gorgeous and they have some of the highest mountains outside the smokies and Shenandoah. Iâd love to see you guys explore some of these areas. Cmon up in the winter and weâll throw ya on a snowmobile!
We would absolutely love to travel more north in the future and hope it works out to do someday. I was in Pittsburgh and it really made me want to see more. Thank you so much for watching and the suggestions.
@virgilflowers9846 you kind of forgot the Mountain State of West Virginia...the only State that's completely in the Appalachian range.
Thank you for another great video! Interesting. I think some of my people were from there.
Very much a hidden gem in my view. Thanks for sharing
Yes, a lot of people sleep on it but itâs a great spot
I have missed you for a while. Glad to see you back!đ
Know yâall are enjoying your sweet baby and family time, but definitely missing yâall out on the road and more videos! đ€
I went to Clinch Valley. Had a lot of fun there, and found the experience to be very nice. However, to become a comic book artist and illustrator, I had to move to New Jersey to get a proper art education at the Joe Kubert School of Art. I did learn a lot at CVC (as we called it), and I'm very thankful for my experiences there. Its a lovely campus--even "Cardiac Hill" and those steps leading up said hill from the cafeteria! lol. I also love the town of Wise. Having been born in Clintwood, Wise is naturally very familiar to me. My old stompin' grounds, as they say.
I'm glad to see you both doing videos again! They're a real treat for me, as I haven't been home in many years.
Next time youâre in Wise or Scott County you should visit High Knob. Itâs beautiful. Go visit the woodbooger at Flag Rock and see the City of Norton and Wise County from a different perspective.
We also used to have a Bonanza. I miss it so much!
Great video as always. I love the way you guys put over a place's character in such a short time. Architecture, town scapes and just plain living. Wonderful đ
Hello sweet people! I have missed seeing you both. Wise, VA is a beautiful area of the State. I have only visited Wise once and that was years ago. From the scenery in the video, apparently there have been some changes. Well, it is like everything else, everything changes sometimes not in a positive direction. Thanks for taking me along on this visit to Wise.
Thanks for riding along with us. Wise is a great little town but it definitely has changed quite a bit since weâve last been there. Seems like a sleepy little town. Hope youâre doing well, Judy
@@realappalachia It is so nice to hear from you nice people. I am doing fine. Just had a birthday. I cannot believe that I turned 81 this month. I am selling products at our local Farmer's Market and that keeps me really busy. Thank you for asking. How is your baby? Probably growing faster than you can keep up with at this point. First, they are babies and the next thing you know, they are getting married. She certainly is a beautiful precious baby. Take care.
Yâall make my heart grow fonder for those old towns out yonderâŠ.
Itâs been years-back then I was much blonderâŠ.
Come on back for a visit

@@user-tq8ps6mt3k I remember the name American Energy. The place I work for now makes scoops so thatâs pretty cool to hear.

There used to be a restaurant across 23 from Renoâs that had lots of Civil War artifacts on display and great food. I donât recall the name. I donât think itâs open anymore.
Yes, Iâm pretty sure the name was Mosbyâs and it had a great reputation. I never got to eat there but heard great things about it
@@realappalachia thatâs it. Very good food. I got a âsampler â platter there once that had trout, chicken and steak. It was like getting three meals and was really good. The place was like a Civil War museum too.
Been there a lot of times.
Thanks for the video!
Thank you!
you all are making videos of my area. been working on Electric Vehicles and conversions. soon to be driving an electric motorcycle though out southwest Virginia
Nice town
Shane & Melody, enjoyed seeing Wise after all these years.
Have y'all ever done a video in Iager, West Virginia (pronounced Yeager)?? Not sure if youre aware, but when O. Winston Link was photographing the last of Norfolk & Western Steam locomotives in the late 50's, one of his famous pictures was taken as the N&W steam loco was passing the old Drive-in Theater in Iager. The tracks (still in use) and the old theater (not in use) are still there. Its a small, but quaint area. Go, if youve never gone. I was last down there in the late 90's.
We did a video there a couple years ago but I didnât get a chance to see the old theater. We were going to show that photo in the video but sadly couldnât get copyright permission to use it. It is definitely an iconic photo.
@@realappalachia I'll look it up. Yes indeed, very iconic.
Y'all need to go up to Cass Railroad in Pocahontas County someday soon, too!!
@@SMichaelDeHart oh yes, weâd love to make it to Cass
@@realappalachia when you go, take the trip all the way to Balb Knob...you won't regret it!!
@@SMichaelDeHart thanks for the heads up
Ive been gone! Did you have a boy or girl? Congratulations â€â€â€
We had a little girl in December â€ïž
I got married there in 1967
Why is it always so dark and gloomy, cloudy glum in West Virginia đ
I havenât seen a video for awhile.. last time no baby ! Whose baby is it?
