Both the P238 and the P938 have a firing pin block. The block only moves out of the way when the trigger is pulled. So even if the safety was off, the gun was dropped and the hammer released, the firing pin could not reach the primer---being stopped by the firing pin block. So both guns are extremely safe to carry cocked and locked. There are some good videos out there on this subject. I have been carrying my 938 for years. It's my summer carry---very light.
Sir do you still carry it? And ever had a glock 26 in your hands?
@@jorgeo1492p938 is significantly easier to carry than a g26. A g26 was my first carry and i got rid of it after carrying single stack sigs
It's all in the stealth editing. We have a secret program developed by NASA that allows one to edit video without it appearing edited. Heck, it's the only way I can appear to hit the target, though. :-) If people discovered I really don't even like guns and have very little experience with them, they would probably quit watching. I have to do SOMETHING.
This guy has jokes
I have a contract with some Hooters girls to actually do it ON camera, but they never seem to show up on time. Sorry about that, guys. :-)
LMAO this should have been pinned.

Have you shot this gun suppressed? How does it cycle?
I bought the P938 about three weeks ago, and after carrying it in Sig's provided plastic holster for only three days, I began noticing that that the holster was marring the pistol's finish on the top of the slide.
I reported this to Sig, and they not only sent me a pre-paid shipping ticket with Fedex, they replaced the slide as a courtesy to me and sent it back to me at their expense, too, rapidly.
I'm now using a leather holster, and I won't use the plastic one every again, but I want applaud Sig Sauer for taking care of this situation. That's one QUALITY-centric company.
Kudos to Sig.
German's are known for making high-quality products in almost anything.
Ive heard good things about their service also.
From my own experience, their customer service is top-notch.
TBNTX Yeah their incled holsters are crappy. Probably just made to have til you get a better one.
Sig has top-notch customer service I purchase day P220 many years back before the addition of the picatinny rail and I put about five magazines threw it, the slide locked back then felt rough. I called up Sig they sent me a load packing slip through FedEx I sent it to them within a week they return it to me as a courtesy to me they upgraded the slide to a nickel finish it was originally black and did a Sig trigger job on it they stated the issue was a burr on the inside of the slide rail I still can't believe they upgraded the slide did the trigger job and returned it to me within a week I still have that pistol to this day I love it and I will not get rid of it
Center hit on the gong at 75 yards with a 3” barrel.
This guy knows how to shoot.

A good gun with good sights makes a lot of difference. But yes he is well seasoned.
I always think the same thing when I watch his videos! I see him make shots from that far away, and I'm like... Ok, how? 😀
@@dangoleshootnetwork6036 The camera makes it seem further away than it is. I have some videos that make my backstop look like it's 80 or 90 yards away, when it's really 50 to 60 yards. I'd reckon that 12" gong he's shooting at in this video is about 45 to 60 yards, but not 75 or 80. I'd be curious to know from him for sure though how far each target array is though.
@@GuitarGunner Even at 45-60 yards with a 3 inch barrel that's an amazing shot with a little pocket pistol!
This video was the reason I bought this exact 938 for daily carry. No regrets, Great gun!
I just got this gun a few days ago. Damn nice gun.
@@modernsurvivalist5769 Are you still liking it?? I'm so tempted to get this gun for my daily carry
I love my P938... and so does my wife so off to the gun shop to buy another one. 😎
@@300WINMAG360 i have had this gun for 2 years now. probably 2000 rounds and still love this thing, if i had more $ this would still be my EDC.
Same here!
a bowl of bullets always reminds of Halloween for some reason... CANDY CORN!
Lol !! 😆
Hi Sir,
I'm a cop in Northwest Ohio. I started watching your videos about two months ago and am super impressed with your skills and personality. Your knowledge of guns and shooting is amazing. Even though you're a huge Glock fan, you still give other guns a fair review and i respect that very much. Keep making these great videos for eneryone to enjoy. Thank You...
Hickok, I thank you so much for not being a "Beater Down" of smaller guns and small ammunitions. Hearing that 380acp sucks and little guns are not worthy of saving your life under stress,, revolvers don't have enough rounds etc.. I hate even watching those reviews. My Uncle, A Vietnam Veteran told me that if I had 100 rounds and couldn't hit what I was shooting at it didn't matter what round was in the chamber. I'm a true believer in learning what works best in your hands, practice and deliver the absolute best you can with what you know! No matter whats in the chamber! You are a Great reviewer of pistols and a amazing shot! Again I thank you for being a open honest guy!
u shoud try cz 82 it does have 12 mag and stopping power is close to 380
I don't like those people, they think they live in the ghetto or something and will be getting in shoot outs. 99.9% of ccw holders will never need to draw their gun. For years I just carried pepper spray and a baton if I ever ended up in a bar fight or something.
robert20351
no 380 is short 9mil mac 11 uses it for example and few back up pistols like walther pp/ppk
robert20351
32 is most common as far i know
Only takes once for it to not matter further.
I have the P938 and have bought many of my guns based off of your videos. I love seeing your prospective on all of the guns and tell everyone to look up your videos before buying any gun. Thank you and keep up the good work.
I've said it once, I'll say it again- Hickok45, the Gold Standard of gun films on the 'net.
Johann Hamish You ain’t kiddin. He certainly is.
Sir I fully enjoy watching your reviews on firearms! I am thankful that you keep it simple and focus on the weapon more than personal opinion, statistics, etc. The firearms community is lucky to have men like you, so keep up the good work!
This guy surely is a joy to listen to and watch and he really knows his guns. Lots of great information!!!
I never get a new gun until I look here first ..
If he don't it the gong don't buy it ...
Got a vz 58 after watching your video ..
Love it..
You make me spend money mr.45 ...lol
I agree he is simply the best.
Same here. Unless I see "Uncle Hickok45" shoot it first I don't buy until I do.
Exactly.
Ditto ,,, 😁🖒🇺🇸
Hickok- Love the channel and glad that the issues that took it down have been resolved! Lots of mixed reviews on the P938 pistol but another great Hickok review and a great channel. Thumbs up on this baby Sig
See the video. I didn't notice anything about the trigger for me, but I have rather thin fangers, even though they are long. Someone with larger fingers might notice that in such a small gun. As with about any pistol, it's way more accurate than any of us are; I did not benchrest it or stick it in a Ransom Rest. I did not have the gun all that long, but I get a pretty good impression pretty fast on a firearm. Any major negatives just tend to jump out at me pretty quickly.
In my opinion, selling guns for a major retailer, the P938 is one of the very best sub-compact carry guns available. The 1911 style and mechanics have been around - unchanged for decades for a very good reason. And that reason is soundness of design.
Well then why did they change it for so many sub-compacts such as the Sig P938 and the Kimber Micro 9? Both are somewhat 1911's by virtue of the 7° grip to slide angle and SAO. But omit grip safeties, drop safeties and a positive trigger that slides back instead of hinges at the top.
The Busterdog it’s called size, that’s why
@@thebusterdog6358
To make up for size
You have to sacrifice some design elements in micro compacts
I've had mine for over a year now and it has functioned flawlessly. Love it. I also bought the 22 conversion slide for it and was really surprised at how nice it functioned and how accurate it is. Zero problems, unlike all the complaints I've heard about the Sig Mosquito.
Any gun I’ve ever been interested in, and Hickok45 is the first video I see. I appreciate you Hickok!!!
My hat goes off to you hickok45.
I just got this gun two days ago, the" nightmare" version and I cant wait to take it to the range.
Your review on any gun is one of the most realistic and fun to watch anywhere on the web, your talent ( your son too) and knowledge in fire arms is the solid foundation of your success.
Keep up the excellent work and THANK YOU SIR for your work and time. My entire family and myself always enjoy your videos.
long live the freedom's vanguard!
Had no malfunctions of any type. My only problem with the pistol is that it has a thumb safety you'd have to use and have to remember to disengage. Nice little shooter once you get the safety off.
Hitting that gong is pretty damn impressive with that little gun
Jack Hoffman He's done with a Hi Point and a NAA 22 mag, so tho this video displays better shooting than I'll ever be capable of, it's nothing when comparing Mr. Hickok to Mr. 45 ;)
Even with any gun hes very fast at aiming down sights and lining up the target
And he's hit it with quite a few derringers, those are a pain to shoot at any distance lol
Thanks for the review - I saw one in Gander Mountain this past week and thinking of getting it at some point as a CCW. I really appreciate comparing it to the other models as well. You do a great job Hickok45 - my go-to guy when I want to see a gun in action from a professional shooter.
Thanks again Hickok... I love your reviews, they are all very well done and entertaining...
I'm getting one of the Sig P938 because I'm one of the guys who likes that it's a small 1911
I bought the Scorpion model. Looks amazing and shoots like a dream. I own a dozen CC pistols and this is by far my favorite.
Fantastic video. Thank you so much for doing such a great service for shooters and gun enthusiasts. I bought this gun based on your opinion after owning the P238 for a while and I LOVE the P938. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Thank you once again for the great review! I was checking one of these out last week and was pleasantly surprised to see this review up this morning.
Enjoy your presentations: clear, concise, to the point. No interjected BS.
*coughnutnfancycough
Kakunapod which to be fair nutn does too BUT the rambling is unrelated and annoying
You have really good aim. This is my off duty Carry. Good review!
Wonderful!!! Thank you for the wonderful informational videos and thanks to John for his great camera work. We appreciate all your efforts. Now I want to add a big sibling for my Sig P238!
Your video's rock. They are informative and entertaining... you have a natural talent to speak through the reviews. Well done hickok45!
I was glad to see your review of The SIG P938. I picked up one a few weeks ago and love the way it handles and shoots. I find the take down just a little harder than it needs to be, but it is 1911 like. Also, it's somewhat difficult to load the mags. As it breaks in, that should get easier. I can always count on your unbiased reports. I'm always amazed at how well you shoot such a wide variety of guns. Good job Hickok.
My buddy just picked one up. Though I have not fired it yet it does have a great feel to the grip and the front sight tip has a great crisp look centered and flushed with the rear sight. It's next on my list. Nice video and great shooting.
Hickok you rock! Keep up the videos. They are educational and fun! Great combo in my opinion.
Hickok45 You are the reason I have brought so many guns. I just went out and bought the legion version of this gun. Was very happy. Cannot wait till I get to put lead down range.
Great videos. I love me SIG Sauer p938, I've put over a 1000 rounds through it and I have not had any malfunctions. I think that says alot for a 3in barrel. It's super easy to carry hardly know it's even there. It's very accurate for its size. And it just looks soo good! I would recommend it to anyone wanting a small carry pistol or as a backup.
Thanks for your videos. After watching some of your videos and trying out some guns I ended up with the P938 Nightmare. I have a Colt Mustang in 380 that I have carried for years but I am lefty so safety was always an issue. I ended up carrying with safety off and empty chamber. I know, not the best situation. When I saw the Sig p238 and p938 had ambidextrous safeties I knew it was time to go shopping. Was pleasantly surprised that the p938 in 9 mm is just a smidge larger than my 380 colt. Thanks again for your videos, very informative and fun to watch.
+Janice Neace Glad you found something that suits you better. Lots of good choices out there; it's a great time to be buying a gun, or two, or three, or four, or five, etc.! :-)
+hickok45 my father passed recently and little did I know he bought be a Christmas present in advance and it the p938 with the black rubber grips and I just turned 18 and they said I could carry it but not conceal, great gun.
+Toast My Goats I will for sure, thank you!!
+Janice Neace Thanks for the info. When I physically compared the P938 to the original Walther PPK (James Bond's famous movie original was in .25 and the .380 real model was hyped later after the movies. Movies give the actors a .22 model and blanks, then dub in the barrel size and sound, as if we do not see that. I found the PPK and P938 are almost exactly the same H x W x L and weight as my old repro .380 PPK, but much more ergonomic; a much better trigger, no hammer pinch. Ambi: I am also a lefty with pistols, and a righty with rifles and bows (if you know what I mean). The 1911 style cocked and locked carry may be scary to those who have misgivings about their own readiness to carry a semi-auto. It may be better for them to have a revolver. Just chatting, and want to hear from you, OK?
+UncaBill1 the original he carried was a .32
Thank you Hickok45 for everything you do! A friend and I purchased this gun at the same time a year ago, I am being honest by saying, there was an issue for the both of us with accuracy. The guns both seemed to be accurate to a certain extent, but we both struggled with accuracy beyond 10 yards. We are experienced shooters and C.C. people. Hickok45 makes it look so easy! It is a good weapon, but has limited accuracy. Went back to my FNS compact. Don't seem to have the accuracy issues that I had with the 938. Still love my Sigs tho!
One of my favorite carry guns, period. Sig knows how to build guns, pricey but worth it!
This fella may be one of the best video reviewers I have watched. He can pack more relevant information into a short presentation than most (perhaps all) of the others I have watched.
I love my Sig P938! Having only taken it out to the range once, it feels great in my smaller hands. I only use the extended mag, as I like how it accommodates the little finger.
Enjoyed the video. I have never owned a Sig, but your last two videos featuring Sigs have really got my attention. I too saw this firearm at the convention in St. Louis and it caught my attention also. The Sig P226 Navy is quite a pistol and probably the one I would prefer. Always look forward to your informative videos!!
Great review. Bought a 938 and was one of the unlucky ones that had FTE problems. Contacted Sig and they did a great job fixing the problem. No issues since and I absolutely love the gun. Accurate, easy to carry, and beautiful fit and finish.
For every damn gun I’m ever interested in, there’s a video of you shooting it! 😂
My P938 is amazingly accurate, and I LOVE IT!! Even though I have large hands it somehow fits perfectly and I am able to get on target with a consistent trigger press.
Seen the MASTERs Of presentations HICKOCK and WAS IMPRESSED ; SO I AM NOW A SIG P938 OWNER.....VERY HAPPY 😊 CAMPER. My carry gun. Light weight effective and reliable as it gets. Once again thank you sir for your demo.
I had a friend that knows how much I look to your videos for information, ask me to find one that I disagreed with... still searching. Always intelligent mixed with some humor, yup the best. I would like to see some others hit that gong from that far away with these types or firearms. You rock, again.
Great review! Was just talking to my dad about this pistol on my drive home from work. Low and behold, here's the review! Thank you!
I absolutely love my 938! I've shot nearly every main CCW 9mm and this is by far my favorite. I got the tactical 2 tone with the houge grip and trigger guard laser with tritium sights. highly recommend this factory version. that hogue grip makes all the difference. I personally can shoot it nearly as well and tight groups as full size pistols; something I couldn't do with say the Glock 43, Nano, ect.
What other ccw 9mm are there that are hammer fired?
I remember subscribing to this guy before he even had 100k video views.. congratulations man, you have come far!
When I need a review I go right to Hickok45. He's the best you youtube. Long live Hickok45!
Extremely happy you were able to do this review. Been waiting on a reliable review and minor comparisons. I still think I am gonna go with the PM9 although this is very tempting.
I carry my sig p938 cocked and locked. It is without a doubt the best carry pistol I've ever fired!
I've had a p938 for about three years and I love it. I've always loved 1911s and I always carry, and this let's me carry an incredibly accurate gun that doesnt weigh 4 pounds. Note: at 15 yards with the big dot sites I'm putting all 7 rounds in the 10
Seems like a very nice pistol..cool features and for how small its unique in 9mm.. very accurate shooter but we all see why that is...lol..something tells me the man loves all firearms in any configuration...awesome video..thank u Mr Hickok 45..very well done as always..
Thank's Hickok, yet another great info video. keep up the good work.
You've sold me. There's a nice gun shop in Fayetteville, GA that owes you a sales commission.
I have the same gun and I love it. Easy to carry, accurate beyond belief. The aggressive grips can scrape up your hands if not use to it but it will not slip out of your hand.
Thanks for a great review. I've had my eye on one of these for a while and I think it's time to pick one up.
My wife just purchased this very model, a 9mm Sig P938 Extreme. I am excited about her choice. It is well balanced and sits well in the average hand. The sights naturally fall into place, and it is a 1911-type single action design which translates into speed and reliability. Of course, with the latter comes training. I became hardwired to the 1911 action beginning with my time in the Navy when we were issued .45 ACP Model 1911-A1 service pistols, and later in police service pistol competitions. My wife’s current handgun for home and travel is a .38 Smith & Wesson Model 64 with a 3” barrel. The S&W may become her house gun and the Sig will likely be her travel/carry weapon.
I've got a 938, G26 and S&W shield. All great guns. For the size and performance the 938 is incredible. Best carry gun on the market in my opinion.
PPS
except for the fact that you have to remember to hold you thumb on the safety otherwise your gonna get one shot followed by at least another second to disengage the safety again for the 2nd shot
na kahr is better ... hickok agrees
You and I own some of the same pistols, and I carry the P938 EDC
I’ve rotated my Sig 938 rosewood and G26 w/Pearce grip extensions for years as my edc. To me two of the finest concealable/reliable handguns to carry everyday/everywhere I go! Desantis leather mini scabbard is the perfect holster too for the Sig 938!
Love your "candy" bowls of shiny ammunition in your reviews!
I bought a Kimber micro 9 for my Brother in law 3 weeks ago. It's a sweet little pistol but I'm a Sig guy. In a couple of weeks I plan on buying the P938 for myself. I bought the new Sig Sauer P938 SAS about 2 weeks after this post. I have to admit I like the Sig better than the Kimber. But both are sweet shooters. The Kimber Micro 9 had issues with 115g 9mm ammo at first but seems to handle it now (after about a 500 round break in). The Sig has handled everything right out of the box, it now has about 300 rounds of various 9mm ammo with no problems. That hokey POS Sig holster stayed in the box and I bought a Wright Leather Works custom holster for it. It took 10 weeks to get it but well worth the wait.
Hey, Hickok. The guys at Tennessee Gun Country are some good people. Nice shoutout to them!
I am Turkish but ı very love you. I love sig sauer p238 and p938 my favourite guns...
I heard the Turks tend to like guys....
zackdoc bruh
Peace an love right back to ya from the USA. Hey please ignore zackdoc. Clearly he’s from Kentucky.
Hardly anything is a small as the LCP. Of course, not many small guns are as hard to shoot well as the LCP either, I guess. :-)
Watching him load while he talks is part of the fun! I enjoy it.
Looked at the P238 & 938 at a shop today. I have limited Dexterity in one hand I was able to rack the slides on both with my weak hand. The first time I've been able to do that with any firearm. That's an amazing feeling
It is a sig 938 and perfect for waist carry. I use 124 grain +p golden sabers. Love the sights. Easy to rack for my wife.
I just bought one for my fiancé today. She picked it out, fits her perfectly
Another fine review Thank you sir for the high quality content
I appreciate both this video and those you provided on the S&W Shield.
Although I carried a .45 in condition 1 and even 0 when events got hot, I wouldn't feel comfortable with the Sig carried in an appendix holster. In addition, I didn't want to replace recoil springs frequently so I went with the Shield with a safety. Again, thanks for your videos--well done!
No problems; however, I just had the pistol for a few days. Problems could surface, I suppose, that I did not uncover.
just got this exact Sig amazing carry pistol !!
Hickok45 You make the most reliable gun reviews available. This video finalized my choice to buy this for my wife.
Nice to hear the positive comments on the P938. I carry a Sig Sauer P220 Carry SA .45 caliber with thumb safety. Love my Sig and shoot very accurate compared to all the other guns I've tried but it's quite heavy. Looking forward to buying the P938 which will have the same muscle memory as my P220. Only difference is the trigger pull on my P220 is 5lbs so I'll modify the P938 or just get use to the 7.5 lb pull. Extreme version feels great in my hands! Scorpion not bad too.
Great gun. Instantly replaced glock 43 in my carry rotation. Unbelievably Straight shooting and low recoil pistol that's great with the seven round mag. I sold the 6 round and got more seven rounders. Eats and throws all ammo with wonderful sights. Definitely worth spending a couple more dollars and get this over the other single stacks. Not only night sights and beautiful but can come in many configurations including a laser or light. Carry one in the chamber with seven waiting gets the job done and is a joy to shoot.
I have a P938 and love it. But the night sites are so bright , they keep me awake !!!! LOL joking... Great gun
You still amaze me , with you shooting , thanks
I believe the GONG IS 80 YARDS away
I’m guessing about 55-60
bill0006 3433 Hickok has mentioned 80 yds in other videos..at 60 it’s impressive
The pachmayr style rubber grip for this pistol is superb!
I love you're videos.Vey informative and you're a great shot.
Thank you hickok45 I picked up both the p938 and p238 and love them both, your reviews are always spot on. Also I have a sti 40 in 5in if you ever want to review it please let me know

seriously john is an awesome cameraman great job on all these vids i love watching those rounds smacking into the gong
I have a p938 Rosewood coming. I have been very pleased with my p238. Thanks for the reviews on both.
Darn skeeter in the vid made me swat at my ear! XD
I love that bowl of candy
As always great video, and very informative. Thanks.
i really dig your vids man keep up the good work man and that sig is awesome!!!!
You, sir, are an evil shot. Bought this gun last week and I was pinging targets right out of the box. most accurate sub I've ever shot. I am a 1911 man so no surprise I'm comfortable carrying it cocked and locked. unreal accuracy. Just get your muscle memory to hit the safety and you will be lethal in self defense with this weapon.
I just got this pistol in the sas version great shooter! My new edc.
+Paul Brooks: I have the SAS version, too. I love mine. It's my preferred concealed-carry pistol.
Great little pistol.
Sig's customer service is top notch.
I know that every gun I potentially look to purchase. I always search to see Hickoks review. He has yet to miss one yet. He has shot every gun I own.
Hickok can u do one a sig P290 please
The ambi safety irritates my knuckle also.....easy fix though as you can install the single sided 238 safety, which is what I did.
Agree completely. I converted mine to single sided a week after purchase.
Saw a 938 sas in the gun shop and bought it on a whim. It’s my favorite go to edc gun ever! Great shooter too.
Great looking lil pistol. I prefer my 3" EMP with 9+1 and a little more 'purchase' but if pushed I do like this Sig more than other micros. Keep on keepin on, sir! Life is pretty good!
Can you review Kimber Micro 9 please?
please
Austin Smith kimbers are over priced get a m&p shield 9 100% better and a lot less
Austin Smith Ruger LC9S is really good too.
