- I guess the VW engineers figured that most people who would buy this car wouldn't care or even know what to do with a temperature gauge. :) But I care!!! In this video, I'll show you an easy way to get a temperature gauge as well as other useful data from your MK4 Volkswagen New Beetle.

I know you just bought the scan gauge II.
But now there is a scan gauge III.
I also have a beetle. Mine is a 1998 tdi. I have an upgraded turbo, clutch, injectors. I need to watch the temperature on mine also. These cars also have a fault with the electric fans not working. So we all need to watch the temperature.
I like your channel because you drive your cars. Most people fix cars up for views, then sell them or give them away.
I want to watch people who actually use their car.
Very cool. Just got a Neuspeed short ram I need to install. will hopefully do a video of that soon! You on instagram? Would be cool to see more of your motor. @rayregnogarage
This is gold, thanks
Helps alot thanks
Awesome! Glad you found it helpful
Where is the Ranger?!
Lol keep up the good work man. Love the vids.
In the shop chillin. I got bored with it and picked up another project. haha. Shot this video six months ago so I’m a little behind editing. Couple Ranger videos soon hopefully.
Hello why have u suddenly stop all of d how to do mods videos on d VW Beetle 1.8T they were kick ass good!
I have six cars and it's not my most popular car on the channel. Haha. So I've been focusing on the others. BUT... I do have a video I need to complete editing for the Beetle. I'll post soon.
When r u doing ur next VW turbo 1.8t video? keep up d good work!
I have one I haven’t edited yet. Prob post in the next few weeks or so
Thanks for the post love it I am getting one
Awesome! If you haven’t already, use the link in the description of the video. Amazon gives me a little kickback and it doesn’t cost any extra for you. Thanks for your support!
@@rayregnogarage can you monitor boost and more stuff
@@slaughtertwo I hadn't thought of that, but looks like it does. www.scangauge.com/products/scangauge-ii/
@Stronghold Garage pls try to read map presures and let me know along with some others. Just trying to make a good decision.
@@slaughtertwo I won't be able to do it til the end of the month. That car lives in another state. I'm a dual resident of sorts
Great work Ray keep pumping out d VW Beetle 1.8T videos on all ur mods, also maybe u should do a separate page only on d VW Beetle your page is getting too crowded with ur other vehicles okay Cheers NG
I have six cars. And the most popular is the Ranger... so that's why I do more videos of those. I have another Beetle video I haven't uploaded yet. Will edit and upload soon.
Have you encountered any problems with leaving it plugged in to the OBD socket all the time?
Nope. not at all. I think it’s intended to be plugged in all the time.
I have a 2003 beetle as well 2.0L , i have al ready change timing belt, water pump, thermostat and it’s still overheating I don’t know what might be the problem with it now, and on a tight budget so I want to get it right this time. What should it be ? Thank you 🙏🏻
Another question: should the fans start running as soon as you turn on the car ? I have already change the cooling fan control module and is still not working. A reply would be really appreciated
I was about to ask about that module, too. Coolant temperature sensors are cheap things you can try. The vans don’t turn on right away, it has to get to a certain temp first. Did you burp the cooling system?
Thanks for the info. I have an 05 Bettle. This is first car I've owned that did not have a temp gauge. My Bettle was given to me. It's in need of some repairs, but runs and drives. I've been trying to learn as much as I can about the car. Hopefully I can even learn to make minor repairs. Current task is to replace the air intake box. Mechanic was going to charge $500 for factory part plus labor. I was able to find one on Ebay for around $60. Now I'm trying to avoid paying for labor. Is this something you've done? I'd like to change this myself. Hoping you or anyone reading comments can provide some guidance. Thanks
Awesome! The air box is easy. Watch this video on installing a short throw shifter. You have to remove the air box to get to it. czcams.com/video/hfVFzCp1N74/video.html
@@rayregnogarage Thanks for taking the time to reply. Really looks easy. I'm looking forward to trying it. Thanks again.
@@Starting321 Absolutely. Here to help! Good luck!
Anyone ever try installing analog gauges?
If they couldn’t go to the trouble to add a temperature gauge just makes you think What else did they skipped over?
Ya. it’s annoying.
More rangers videos
hahaha. EVERY TIME.
By the way... you can put one of these ScanGauges into a Ranger. very useful.
