    People who talk about Novak being up 4-2 in the fifth at the French clearly forgot him being 5-6 down in the 4th with Rafa serving for it. But hey, as long as it fits their story lines

    • @NoelAndres17
      @NoelAndres17 Před 10 lety

      We didn't forgot. Yes, Nole got a break on that rain delay. Nadal got a break later. Still, Nole has surpassed Nadal as the best player on clay. If he plays his best against Nadal's best, he is the winner. Now, Nadal will be more calm on the RG 2014 final since he has won the tournament 8 times. One more, who cares. While Novak will be looking for the only Major missing his trophy case. But as soon as he gets into it, Nadal can't match his game. He likes to put the ball right where Djokovic likes it (high on the backhand). Tennis is about matchups, and in this matchup, Djokovic is the superior player. Nadal needs to get out of his comfort zone, play closer to the baseline, go more down the line with his forehand. While Djokovic can play his usual game, he doesn't have to play out of his comfort zone. That is a big edge. Can Nadal play outside his comfort zone for 4 hours? I don't think so. That's why he is lucky Djokovic will most likely be nervous at the start. With Djokovic playing relaxed all match long, he can't win. But tennis is not only about tennis skills, is about mental strength. So Djokovic needs to bring his A mental game to the game. My bet, Djokovic wins RG provided he doesn't meet Federer on the draw.

    Nobody has ever dominated a surface like Nadal, even if he is declining a little he will forever be remembered as not only the undisputed greatest clay player ever, but a great legend in the history of the game that is able to dominate all surfaces
    His dominance of clay dwarf Pete's grass records, Rogers Hard and Grass records, its just absurd
    He will forever by my number 2 best player ever, 2/3 more slams, and I would put him above RF

    People saying Djokovic will beat him need to get their head checked ! Rafa has cemented his legacy on clay for a reason! He is a monster and no one can defeat him !

    • @NoelAndres17
      @NoelAndres17 Před 10 lety

      All players eventually lose their edge. Nadal can't win all 3 clay Masters and Roland Garros year after year for eternity. The competition is catching up to him on clay, that is 100% clear. Right not it is not only Djokovic who can beat him on clay. Wawrinka is able to do it, probably even Dimitrov. My guess is that Djokovic wins Roland Garros 2014. It is 50/50 Nadal/Djokovic, but given Nole's edge over Nadal in the last 10 months, my bet is on Nole.

    • @sharanhot234
      @sharanhot234 Před 10 lety

      Let's wait and see. This year Nole sure is a serious threat but I don't see him doing that damage to Rafa on Clay as he does on HC. Also Nole, Waw are not young players. They are about the same age as Nadal. And Clay is a physical battle. Nole can keep trying for eternity to get his hands on FO but in the end he will have to give up because of this reason. I thought Nole's best possible chance was in 2011 where he was in the form of his life but out of the blue Fed defeated him. So u never know. But Rafa's consistency on this surface is just too good. Only someone else who possess a game that can end points quickly and not rally with Rafa stand a chance. (Hint: Soderling)

    • @NoelAndres17
      @NoelAndres17 Před 10 lety

      sharan saikumar There's no way to win matches in clay without rallying. Not even Soderling did it. In clay, you have to win from the back of the court. That's why Nadal is so good at it, his shots have a very high margin, and on clay, his forehand topspin bounces really high. Soderling is a tall guy, and Nadal's ball was right on his sweet spot. Djokovic can handle Nadal's high balls on clay too. Last year, Djokovic abused Nadal on Montecarlo. And even though Nadal won in the Roland Garros semifinals, Djokovic was up 4-2 in the 5th set, and prior to the last rain delay, was abusing Nadal, making him look average. Nadal is no longer dominating players on clay, he is winning by sheer determination, and some luck (Djokovic touching the net on a winning shot for example). There is a limit to that way of winning. You want to have control of your destiny. Nadal is just waiting for errors. Djokovic is the clear favorite on this clay season. Just because Nadal has won 8 RG doesn't mean he is the favorite, just as much as just because Federer has 7 titles at Wimbledon mean he is the overwhelming favorite. Times change.

    • @sharanhot234
      @sharanhot234 Před 10 lety

      You are backing up Nole so much but he doesn't have the goods to do it. Again Noles best chance was in 2011. 2012 Semi's was close but Nole could not cross the line bcos Nadal was too good in the fifth set. Also do watch Soderlings match highlights. That is completely different game than when Nole Rafa play. Their rallies are more brutal and they try to outdo each other in every point. This strategy won't work at all for Nole if he keeps playing rallies. And Nole abusing Nadal in Monte Carlo. Sure he played well but even abusing Nadal did not help him to win the FO.

    • @NoelAndres17
      @NoelAndres17 Před 10 lety

      sharan saikumar You mean the 2013 RG Semis. In 2012, Nole lost to Federer in the semis. Get your history right. Regarding Nole not having the goods to do it on clay, where have you been living in the past years? He is making progress on Nadal year after year, and the last 3 times he has played Nadal, he had win so easily that the match is even boring. Djokovic in 4 sets if they play in the RG final.
