    He's finished, they said.
    -- *Rafa reaches finals of the Australian Open, Acapulco & Miami.*
    He won't win another title, they said.
    -- *Rafa wins Monte Carlo, claiming his 50th clay title, 10th Monte Carlo title completing 'La Decima' being the most titles ever won at a single ATP tournament - all unbeatable records in the Open Era.*
    What more does he have to do to prove the haters wrong? This guy is well and truly back. Bring on the rest of the clay season!

      gator b Nadal making it to finals in 3 hard court tournaments but Roger won the finals in 3 hard court tournaments. Roger didn't win clay because he never participated in it in the first place. Roger is staying home because he's 35 and his body needs to rest. Why can't you just appreciate and be grateful for Nadal's victory without bringing Federer down?? They're both great tennis players. They both deserve equal respect.

    I have never seen such stupid hatred anywhere. Rafa is King of Clay and I as a Federer Fan think he deserves every bit of success he's had. I feel sad for the fans who spoil Federer fan base for God knows what reason. And Rafa fans should have some shame too, spreading hatred when players themselves have utmost respect for each other. If you don't understand what tennis is all about don't call yourself a fan. I am happy that Fed has 18 titles and Rafa has 14 and Djoko 11 and they deserve every single one of them. The fact that Federer is still playing at 35 and winning gives me utter joy and thats all that matters.

      That makes little sense.
      Federer is the "Tennis on Fast-tending surfaces" Co-GOAT with Djokovic.
      Nadal is the "Tennis on Slow-tending surfaces" GOAT.
      There is no one who has a GOATish record on both types of surfaces, and the ATP Tour is biased to the fast-tending surfaces 3:1, so Federer's and Djokovic’s records look slightly better.
      Bottomline: ... no overall GOAT.
      Just three Europeans with subtly different skill-sets that get exaggerated from time to time.

    This was kinda obvious from the get go, wasn't it? Federer would skip most of the clay season, and Djokovic and Murray are in awful form (Plus, clay is definitely not their favorite surface). The only real threat was Wawrinka and one or two clay court specialists (If they caught fire, that is).
    Nadal's a clay God, but we all knew he was gonna win this title from the beginning.

    • @___Robin___
      @___Robin___ Před 7 lety +1

      I don't see Nadal winning the french open. Murray and Djokovic well get their shape back while Nadal will become overly passive. There is a good chance Federer won't face Nadal in the French open. If you quit because odds aren't in your favor then that shows something of your mentality. There is enough rest between Wimbledon and Rolland Garros.

    • @seany32
      @seany32 Před 7 lety +3

      Robin Clarijs yeah I'm sure Nadal will become overly passive after him being aggressive all season so far and been in every final.bar 1 and winning this ,.makes sense to start being passive again lol

    • @RFan15goat
      @RFan15goat Před 7 lety +1

      Robin Clarijs First of all, Roger isn't "quitting". He's trying to rest because he's not 20 years old anymore. He knew clay is not his best surface a long time ago, but he never skipped the clay season unless he's had an injury. Second, if you want to talk about mentality then you should watch Roger in 2013-2016. He never once quit despite his losses, unless of course when he was injured. Third, sure, there is enough rest between Roland Garros and Wimbledon for a 20-something player, but not for a 35 year old. And if Roger participates in the clay season that will exhaust him. What he's doing right now is called being smart. Finally, Nadal winning RG is an even clearer vision than Novak and Andy doing so. I think a lot of people would agree on that, given Novak and Andy's performances so far in 2017.

    • @srkucrickk
      @srkucrickk Před 7 lety +1

      +Bel18eve I'm almost sure Roger will participate in Roland Garros. I mean, it's a Grand Slam, he will not skip a Grand Slam. He will skip all the previous masters 1000 on clay, but not the legendary French Open. He will participate, and tennis fans will be more than happy to see him playing another French Open.

      Well he was doping and the former French minister announced it and he cheated to win the semi and Novak beat him 26 times before . 7 consecutive times in 2011 and the last 7 consecutive meetings as well without dropping a set . So put all this in one sentence and it won't be harsh hehe

    • @___Robin___
      @___Robin___ Před 7 lety +2

      he even confessed that he thought the ball was out but he couldn't see the mark on the clay. Basically saying I know the ref fucked up and I took advantage of it. Sure he didn't break any rule and it isn't his fault since it's the job of the ref but it shows very poor sportsmanship of Nadal. He knew the ball was out and confessed it and he saw how Goffin was almost tearing up in disbelief. The least he could have done was go over there to look at the mark himself. He clearly stated he saw the ball go out in the interview after the match but didn't see the mark on the clay from his side. He could have just moved his ass to take a look. The reason he didn't because he knew well the ref saw a different mark on the clay. He just took advantage of the miss call to turn the match around. Nonetheless I do believe Nadal would have soon or late broke back or at least change momentum in second and third set. It is deserved that he won, but he lost some of my respect with that play. I almost teared up seeing how Goffin was crying in disbelieve and all he could do was get his towel and shrug it off.
