    Moody Blues were game changers in the field of music. Their songs were a totally different style of music than what we were used to hearing. Great stuff

    I grew up listening to this group & they are one of my favorites from the 60's - 80's. They have had so many hit songs. Love their mix of rock with classical music. They have a sound like no other band. The Moody Blues' most successful singles include "Go Now", "Nights In White Satin", "Tuesday Afternoon", "Question", "Gemini Dream", "The Voice", "Your Wildest Dreams", "I'm Just A Singer In A Rock & Roll Band". But all of their music is great.

      I'm glad you dropped Go Now... It seems to me kind of like the forgotten hit, rarely mentioned. One of the 1st songs I ever learned on the piano.... I'm a pretty fair guitar player, but I'll always think of myself as a piano player...
      I say "er" because I'm probably not good enough on either to be an "ist". But it's 10:45 pm right now and suddenly I feel the need to go downstairs and bang on my piano

    My husband saw them in the 70s without an orchestra and he said while it was listenable it just wasn't the same. But in the 90s he had the opportunity to seen them again, twice, with full symphonies backing them and they were fabulous!!

    • @guidosarducci

      I understand that every song was composed to be played with an entire orchestra backing them...and that's OK by me...

    • @BP-kx2ig
      @BP-kx2ig Před 7 měsíci

      This is not true. There is no orchestra in this song. It is the mellotron.
      No Moody Blues song has orchestral backing although they did occasionally play with an orchestra such as Red Rocks.

    It was 1967 when the "Moody Blues" first played this song in France. It was written by Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues at the age of 19. The inspiration of the song came by way of white satin bed sheets given to him by his girlfriend. He explained that "It was a very emotional time" as he "was at the end of one big love affair and the start of another."
    The Moody Blues were part of the great British invasion of the 1960's rock bands. And music and culture will never be the same again. Priceless!

    The Moody Blues were one of the early examples of how a band who had reached moderate success proceeded to blow up once they replaced the lead singer (like Journey did 13 years later)....Justin Hayward had (and still has) has a very powerful and passion-fueled voice!

  • @alexfletcher5192
    @alexfletcher5192 Před 2 lety +14

    The longer version is like being wrung out with emotion. But I've given this tune more time in the last few months than in decades simply because I fell hard for someone and couldn't believe my luck. And this is the sound of that. Your life is changed in a very powerful and permanent way and sometimes it can be overwhelming. Justin Hayward can still do it justice today.

    The Moody Blues were ground breakers in the music industry. Justin Hayward wrote this song when he was around 19 years old. I always considered them to be in the upper echelons of the music hierarchy. There are so many great songs and concept albums that they have created. I must admit that my favorite is Long Distance Voyager, probably because that is my first album of theirs that I bought when I was a freshman in college.
    I would also recommend John Lodges Talking Out Of Turn and Justin Hayward's rendition of Forever Autumn, which is featured in Jeff Wayne's theatrical presentation of War Of The Worlds.
